  • Member of Parliament Amanza Walton-Desir recently addressed the concerning issue of the current teachers' strikes and their broad implications for children, parents, and the economy.
She criticizes the government's lack of concern and the proposal to provide vouchers for private schools instead of paying teachers a livable wage, emphasizing the widening educational inequality and socio-economic impacts, especially on poorer working-class families.
Walton-Desir also highlights the public's insufficient support for the striking teachers and underscores the potential long-term learning loss due to the extended time children have been out of school.

    Yep!
Taking taxpayers' money from publicly-funded schools and putting the money in the hands of the rich East Indian businesspersons!

‘You people?’ What ingratitude are you referring to? Teachers were teaching during the pandemic.
      We need to remember
That when justice fails for one sooner or later ALL will suffer injustice. There can be no positives coming out of this situation.
The real ungratefuls are those people whose children were taught by these teachers yet they have no compassion for them.
