  • The 2S7M 203mm Self Propelled Howitzer is an updated version of 2S7 Pion which refers to a Soviet-made self-propelled 203mm heavy artillery system. In the West, it has been attributed to the M-1975 as this is the year when the system was first observed. The former Soviet ground forces began receiving the 203 mm Model 1975 (M-1975) self-propelled gun in 1975.

      and why the hell does it have to be a Russian version of the M110? SPG has been produced from as early as world war 1, and NOT by Americans, so why does the Russian SPG which is the biggest SPG in the world right now be a version of the American M110????? would you call the M110 an American version of the German Hummel?? what is your logic i fail to understand it.

    Five minutes to dismantle this beast and begin to move away from the expected GMLSR impact. On the other side there is 60 seconds for radar target identification, 30 seconds for computer to identify a parked HIMARS in range then 60 seconds to fire and then 180 to 300 seconds to impact. Or any 155 with an Excalibur in the breach will do. (Note the Excalibur has to be attached to the thingee that programs the GPS in the shell so it should not be in the breach yet but it sounded so good I typed before thinking)
    Considering that this thing is outranged by all NATO 155's with Excalibur and way outranged by GMLSR and expensive enough to deserve 2 missiles to kill it and with a very distinctive radar signature for its shells it looks like suicide-by-cop to use in a peer-to-peer artillery fight, if Russia v. NATO is called peer to peer.

    • @tomnguyen9931
      @tomnguyen9931 Рік тому

      Sorry, it not really peer to peer. It like Apples (NATO) to crush Oranges ( Russia)!!! The days of just throwing 50,000 shells per days at you enemy are over. Now Ukraine can just throw 300 that do the jobs of their 50,000.

      Dude, it can move away before the first two rounds even hit. Safe from radar counter battery...

    • @gerennichols6075
      @gerennichols6075 Рік тому +1

      @@patriciolucianoarriola4875 Optimistic.
      Basic rule do not open fire if there is active radar because NATO command chain should be able to send a firing solution to batteries before the first impact also.
      If there is no active radar then shoot and waddle with a super heavy tracked vehicle is plausible
      But if you have not convinced the radar that they need to stay off to avoid taking a high speed missile attack that monster might be able to get the recoil supports out of the ground, the barrel down on the travel lock, turned around and be flying off at a sizzling 40 kph (after a couple minutes or more of maneuvering) but there is an additional degree of difficulty we are seeing played out in videos.
      There are a number of videos labelled HIMARS attacks on a convoy. We see drone video with sequentially one vehicle after another blowing up with direct hits; no misses even when moving. And it is actually not one by one, it's two by two.
      I doubt that it is HIMARS. HIMARS is silly accurate if they have a drone spotter yes but not that good at even a slowly moving target. A target should be moving enough that it should not be hitting the top of the vehicle every time.
      And two targets hit within seconds and then 15 seconds later it happens again. That's the rate of 155 fire, with a rim shot.
      That's 155 mm artillery Bonus rounds each one of which is supposed to delivery 2 submunitions to a GPS location and then the submunition independently separate and using video identify large metal rectangular shapes as vehicles and deliver a small package of explosive (but more than a Javelin) and enough to destroy tanks.
      Bonus is supposed to be able to scan a hectare for targets so you need to be 50 meters away from where ever the enemy is guessing that you have gotten to and thus will be need a substantial head start.
      HIMARS superseded the M-270 because the US Army was convinced that tracked vehicles were doomed to lose shoot and scoot.
      This beast is much slower than a M-270m more visible and has less range so even shooting at the front line it will be within range of HIMARS and M-270s also hanging back and within range of Ceasars that have gotten as close as 10 k from the front.
      It is a step up from a towed gun and will be devastating if its side can freely shoot at the other

      @@gerennichols6075 If what you said is true then the himars would've made a difference in the war. The truth is like most modern weapons developed by NATO they're a gimmick at best. If the war ever went hot Russia would shoot down all the satellites making the himars ineffective.
      I'm also not going to get into the fact that a single howitzer shell costs hundreds of dollars and a single himar rocket cost hundreds of thousands of dollars... Again modern nato weapons aren't about being efficient or effective, just how much money they can loot from the tax payer (See the F-35 project).

      @@LCDqBqA Remember how you felt in June when things were going so well?
      We do not know what is happening. No war reporting can be trusted, but the 3rd largest military force in the world which has.a 10:1; advantage in artillery over Ukraine, a 10:1 advantage in airpower, a 20: zero advantage in stealth aircraft 100+: zero MBT's from the 21st century should be doing super, far better than their substantial accomplishments in June when the Russians were crushing the Ukrainians in the DonBass under piles of artillery like this piece.
      Ah for the halcyon days of June.
      What happened to those days?
      The two of us really know nothing and can make up stories about how the machines of war work.
      It is a terrible story in which Mr. Putin loves his fellow Slavs some much he. has to kill them. And if killing them down't work destroy their cities. And if destroying their cites does not work what then.
      All the while inciting hatred.
      Now most of Russia thinks that the solution to Ukraine is to kill them all.
      That reminds me of 1945 when suddenly there was no one in Germany who was a Hitler supporter. They just previously supported killing all the Slavs because they were forced to by the real Nazis.
      People are cruel.
