    Diawa Zillion 10.0 topwater/heavy cover, Diawa Zillion 2022 TW HD 8.0 pitching/flippin (New), Okuma Hakai 6.3 spinnerbaits & plugs. Shimano Vanford 2500.spinning for light finesse drop shop, shaky head. As a kayak angler I keep rods/reels to minimum & elite to cover all needed techniques & not to risk failure. Im not much on small baitcasters labeled "bait finesse" , I learned the hard way years ago that they can not hold up to 8 - 12 pounders. It's worth paying the money for elite reels "especially" if one tournament fishes & is serious angler. Those Shimano Vanfords are 4.8 - 5.3 oz. They can handle any finesse I need & are more sensitive in feeling bites than a "baitcaster finesse" reel. Tightlines Matt.

      You should revisit the bfs and light lures with baitcasters. They can absolutely handle big fish. I throw light tackle very often on UL, L, and ML rods and land big reds.

    • @danielmcnish6555
      @danielmcnish6555 2 роки тому +1

      @@rainbosprinkles6548 As I stated I learned the hard way. I've had big bass explode on my once light baitcaster finesse & had reels break from the rod an land in water an tried to recover the line but lost big fish due to the torque power of the bite. I do fish finesse but only with spinning reel as my Vanford is superlight for its purposed technique of drop shop, shakyhead. Everything else is Power reels an Elite quality. I've been fishing since I was 3, an now 46 yes old an a baitmaker & tournament angler ,I'm not gonna risk losing big fish anymore.
      Your able to withstand "reds" because you fish in low water an Reds don't jump, so your able to wear them down. Big bass get under stuff, over stuff, jump, deeper water & have bigger mouths an produce more torque power versus just dead weight to speed in low waters. Hopefully you understand the difference. Tightlines.

    What rod in the tatula line up with the 7 ratio reel for bass casting soft baits and lures. I need it to be a solid utility set up for good all around fishing. I’m a female kayak angler but not a pro and just need a go to set up like I have in my spinning fuego set up. I can not have more than three rigs due to space. I have a ultra light fuego spin, a medium fuego set up spin and I need a baitcaster in that utility range to fish for bass or occasional striped might jump on. Any suggestions on a great size and weight rod is appreciated. One pice obviously 😊

    • @MattLunaFishing

      I don’t know the tatula rod line up at all. For an all purpose rod to pair with the reel in this video, I’d recommend the 6th Sense Unicorn 7’3” MH for a higher end rod. For a rod that’s more budget oriented the 6th Sense Lux 7’1 MH. I have a discount code to 6th Sense you can use as well. The code is Luna10

      It’s nothing negative. It’s more just a feel in the spool. You can tighten the spool as well with the brakes near the reel handle.

      @@MattLunaFishing Looking into it more Im thinking the reason why Im seeing some say 6:1 and others 7:1 for all purpose is not taking spool size into account. I just did a IPT calculator and an epmty sv103 with 32mm (small reel so im guessing 32mm is a small spool?) empty spool does about 25inches per turn so it will get more with line on it. Im just getting back into fishing after a long life of spinner fishing into 10years of no fishing. Right now the walleye are in 10-15ft of water so just need something to get some Storm Thin Fins and grubs down there plus be able to catch the Jack (northern pike). Your making me feel beter about the 6.3. Thanls brother!

    • @MattLunaFishing
      @MattLunaFishing  Рік тому +1

      You’re welcome. I think you’re overthinking it. Here’s the easiest way to think about it. Slower dragging presentation, faster reel for line pick up, faster presentation, slower reel to not go too fast, and for the gearing to not over power the reel.

Otherwise the reel cast and handles like a dream. EDIT: i swore it was the 203 but doesn’t show anything besides 103 on google… idk lol either way i love the reel but hate the size and weight. I do not use them for any jerking, popping, lifting techniques.

      Interesting. I’ve never been unhappy with those things. The 103 is a smaller profile than the sv, but the shallow spool on the 103 isn’t good for deep cranking, Alabama rigs, or anything that you cast extremely far.
