- In the Senate chamber, Governor General Julie Payette delivers the Speech from the Throne to open the 43rd Parliament, The speech outlines the legislative priorities of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s government.
I’m from Australia, and despite both countries having an identical system of government - Canada’s opening of Parliament seems far more formal than Australia’s, and probably even the UK’s.
what do you mean by formal, in this case?
What do you mean even the UK's, we literally have the monarch doing it it's going to be the most formal lol
these traditions are similar across the Commonwealth. the UK, Australia, and New Zealand also all have the Black Rod come to tell the House of Commons to come to the Senate/House of Lords to hear the Speech from the Throne/King's Speech
I love this tradition
50:33, I enjoy the varieties of uniforms.
So Julie Payette may only get one chance as Governor-general? (I'm from CANADA)
56:45, throne speach starts.
And she is from Quebec, If all over Canada learn FRENCH
Why she is on a throne when Queen Elizabeth is thier Queen.
She, as Governor-General of Canada, acts in person of the Queen for ceremonial functions such as this one.
We haven't had a civil war yet.
Wait a bit.
51:59, poke.
50:00, these elbows are looking a little bent.
50:46, spy tunnel what? Who is the voice here?
What’s with the Indians😂
1:25:33, end of throne speech.
1:13:45, the Queen inspired this speech?,🧐
Sic
why is this like opening of parliament in UK? Is it Canada affiliated to Britain?
Canada and the uk use the same government system ( Constitutional Monarchy) and they both recognize Queen Elizabeth II as their head of state
The uk gave birth to canada, most white canadians are british descents. Others are french too but the british conquered the lands
i hope this is a joke
@@bombkita what joke?

@@dorismcnaughton8346 Count your blessings, look south of the border at what we had to put up with for four straight years. Still think you’ve got it so bad, look at how the guy left! And we still can’t get a 9/11 style commission to examine what happened on January 6.
You guys are still worried about the climate? 😂😂😂
As much as I like the Queen and don't mind keeping the monarch as the head of state to represent our history, I feel like the GG is pretty useless. And they also tend to cost the taxpayers too much money, as seen by the recent costs of Mrs Payette to Rideau Hall...
Speaking as an American observer. Anybody who thinks the GG is too expensive for taxpayers has no business wanting to keep the monarchy. Granted Canadian taxpayers do not finance the palace, but if you compare the cost of the monarchy to the cost of the Governor General.... I bet you she lives quite frugally compared to the royal family. Plus you guys only have to pay for her immediate family And only for her tenure. Compared to the monarch Who has the job for life, plus the dukes and Earls, plus the house of lords. That said, I kind of like the idea that you guys have the head of state and head of government separate. After some of the leadership that we’ve had, it is a nice idea having a person that is separate and above the head of government. Someone who can set a good example for the nation, and be a non-partisan unifying figure. And someone who can be the adult in the room in the event of a constitutional crisis. I know the likelihood of that is not tremendous, but still not a terrible idea.
@@antmagor You don't seem to understand how the UK Monarchy is funded. The monarchy's properties were stolen err appropriated by Parliament in the 19th century. They generate a revenue of something near 2 billion pounds a year. They are called the Crown Estate. Out of that, the Parliament "grants" Her Majesty The Queen about $150 million to run the affairs required of The Sovereign.
So no, The Monarchy does not cost taxpayers a dime.
I seriously hate listening to this in two languages. It's beyond stupid. Say it in one language first then the other.
So French first then?
Only in this country. I propose all speeches in english, french, indigenous and lisp... It is beyond stupid. So is a country that elects a compulsive black face wearing prime minister
So maybe stop making excuses for yourself and become bilingual?
It's really not that big of a deal 😂
@@pcbeauty2696 as bad as you think he is let me assure you, you’ve got it pretty good compared to the human Cheeto we’ve had to put up with for the past four years down here. My god that was painful to the bitter end. To this day the great gas bag still claims that he’s the legitimate president. It literally never ends with him.
Independence is Alberta's only hope
NOW
Sucks to be a landlocked one trick pony peddling the worst oil in the world eh?
America is more bankrupt than Canada!!! GOOD LUCK TRAITOR!!!
If Alberta becomes independent it’ll become a banana republic. I’m sorry but you need something more to offer the world then just oil.
