Prince Icons. Little Richard.👑

In a continuation of my Prince Icons theme (Sly Stone) here is an excerpt from The Mike Douglas Show 1970 with Little Richard and Liberace. It's easy to imagine a 12 year old Prince watching these 2 giants of entertainment and drawing on their expertise in showmanship in order to encapsulate his own future style. Here, Little Richard performs ' The Girl Can't Help It' and I was struck by how easily the Prince song 'Peach' would flow to this. A lost era yet they speak of people who are remain living icons of today such as Tom Jones and living monarchs of to being Her Majesty the Queen. I agree with you that I could hear “she’s a peach” as an easy follow-on. When he first hit the keys, I heard Prince too. I hadn’t watched a Little Richard interview before, he’s charming and gracious. Love his style. Easy to see Prince taking note as a child.

Left-handed bass player with Little Richard’s band - not many of those that I can remember immediately - Paul McCartney comes to mind.
I digress - I cannot remember when I first heard a Little Richard track, but I remember discussing him about 1972 in school.
Love these Prince Icons that you do.
Must be a few more for you to do - James Brown, Jimi Hendrix🤔

I've done my Jimi bit. James Brown is a given tbh. Little Richard and James Brown both appear on the Interactive CD rom from 1994 giving individual testimonies as to how good Prince is. I can post that...🤔😉
