While we enjoyed your video a LOT, we live here! This means that more people will come and they will build more. Uhhg. Double edge sword. We love the quiet, local feel. I am in hotel quarantine in Bangkok I get done on Friday and want to go to koh Samui chaweng area bc everything closed over here and I will have proof of negative test. Do you think it's bad idea to go to Samui right now? Just want to train muay thai and go in ocean don't care about bars or clubs as I know they will be closed. Any info would be appreciated. Khun Krab! 🙏
Hi Luke, really hard to say. Pls be aware there's apparently now also a requirement for a certificate of 'Necessity To Travel' between a red zone area (ie Bkk, or areas with 100 cases or more) and a non red-zone (ie Samui/orange zone). They're apparently obtainable via local Amphur/Govt offices but likely difficult to get & also difficult to ascertain how exactly to go about getting one. Basically because they don't want people travelling from high case zones to low case zones (probably until #s peak & start to subside over consecutive days) Wish I could tell you more. Best contact your Embassy/Consulate for local travel updates as they should know specifics & latest info. Good luck & once out mask up etc of course and don't despair, this too shall pass (edit to add: gyms are closed in Surat Thani region too, so no diff to Bkk)

This certificate is sufficient to come to Samui directly from ASQ/ALSQ. Phantip travel....Never again!!!! Had the pleasure(NOT) of 2 journeys with these cowboys, should have learnt the first time, Must have seen our lives flash before us a dozen times...Sooooo dangerous!!! Loving the vids especially with not been able to get there!!
Had a few crazy drivers in the past too Fish (not Phantip but others). All the drives I had on this trip were good. Most vans now have speed limiters and gps tracking/reporting so no more (or very few) cowboys thankfully!
Actually, I just use a phone and film in 1080/60. Not filming for Nat Geo, so hope it's ok. I do tend to move far too quickly and pan too rapidly etc too, will try to slow down... (but it's not in my DNA to be honest;)
@@SideTripLife ok. Guessed that. Your channel is great. Love the text in your videos. Its so easy to see the prices and everything. You did a fantastic work. Wow
I've been going to Thailand over 25yrs been many many times all over including everything in your videos and I always ask for discount at accommodation there's no harm in bartering, things have changed there in thailand aswell as baht dropping big style so more expensive but new visitors don't realise these things and no vids cover this and everyone just flashes the cash and spoiled it.still great but know where near as cheap as was cannot stop progress suppose.decent videos mate keep practicing your terrible Thai language haha they won't correct you unless you ask as impolite and they just smile anyway.last thing why does most people making these vids hardly ever drink Chang? It's far superior to Singh and definitely Leo,don't believe in any of the crap story's about Chang it's the best beer in world and I'm an expert cheers mate
Hi again Gary. As per your previous comment & as stated in the vid, yes, my Thai is crap, khrap (but I do try at least and generally get by;) Regarding bargaining, in 'normal' times I will but in these times locals and the few biz that are open are really hurting so I don't ask for discounts currently. I'm also on a budget but again during these hard times tend to tip more as every bit helps. It definitely was cheaper 10 or 25 years ago (of course, like everywhere) but thankfully you can still find a good meal or beer under $2 and aircon hotel rooms under $30 all over Thailand & to many that's STILL a relative bargain. Last, Leo/Chang/Singha, mai pen rai, if it's wet n cold, generally goes down great after a hot day. Cheers :)
Your subject matter, filming and commentary are so good and great to watch, but I’m embarrassed by your brazen cheap Charlie-ness. If only you could be less cheap and discuss value for money rather than find the cheapest all the time. After all, it’s all pretty inexpensive compared to our lifestyles in the west! You don’t actually give any information about Khanom, the two parts of the market town, and the incredible street food there. And no attempt at Thai manners, language or culture. Yes, I know I can choose whether to watch or not…..
Hi, I appreciate the feedback, thanks. I agree, fantastic value compared to the West. On this trip I had actually planned just a weekend escape from Bangkok. Then while I was away, Bangkok locked down... So I decided to extend my trip South for as long as it takes to ease the situation. But as I was also paying rent on my condo in Bangkok, I wanted to try to not double my living costs, thus was looking at more budget options. In the next 4 Khanom vids after this one, I also made a trip to the lovely town, the market, the waterfalls and all along the coast, meeting wonderful local people along the way (I'm also a tipper, so as usual happily contributing along the way too). If you decide not to watch that's ok too, I understand and thanks for your feedback. STL PS 16:15 my quote: "$100 for this on beachfront is fantastic" 18:20 chose the beachfront room over 50% cheaper backside room
As I said, content and filming is great. Thanks for doing Khanom, and hope you keep it up. Mine are just comments, nothing personal. Khanom Is a great place, but unfortunately the potential has been rubbed out by greed, corruption and gambling leading to extortionate land prices, locking out investors and tour operators.

Actually, I just use a phone and film in 1080/60. Not filming for Nat Geo, so hope it's ok. I do tend to move far too quickly and pan too rapidly etc too, will try to slow down... (but it's not in my DNA to be honest;)
@@SideTripLife i don't think panning is the issue, i think frames are mismatching in your timeline hence i'm seeing frame skipping.
On review, it appears it's just my shoddy editing lol
@@SideTripLife what editing software you use? usally with FCP or Davinci Resolve it will show if you are adding a video to a different fps timeline
Beautiful.... :-))

Love your Mayberry joke
LOL yaaay someone picked up on that! Should've also mentioned Barney or Floyd;)
Well it was a secret!
oops... fortunately few view my banal style of vids (thx for watching btw;)
St tropez @2400b a night ( on agoda ) no thanks
Fab beaches / area tho
Loads of cheaper places, from 500 baht up. St Tropez is rather nice and direct beachfront. Something for everyone.
@@SideTripLife indeed , I have looked , will head down there ( from Phuket ) when possible - it's so overlooked

STL
PS 16:15 my quote: "$100 for this on beachfront is fantastic"
18:20 chose the beachfront room over 50% cheaper backside room
As I said, content and filming is great. Thanks for doing Khanom, and hope you keep it up. Mine are just comments, nothing personal. Khanom Is a great place, but unfortunately the potential has been rubbed out by greed, corruption and gambling leading to extortionate land prices, locking out investors and tour operators.
You are giving up my secret resting place :)
Shhhhh Eddiie! lol;)
That sounds morbid dude! Looks great though - will definitely check it out this winter
@@David-le7jy Morbid??
