KMOV 4 in St.Louis had this campaign. It was called “Watch 4 St Louis”. This campaign launched when KMOX-TV changed its call letter to KMOV, from the sale of CBS to Viacom in the the spring of 1986. The videos of the campaign are on UA-cam.
I'm really surprised that a station used this jingle as late as 1994. I've never seen any video of this from later than 1987. Then again, I've seen WBZ's 1980 image campaign "The One 4 All" be adopted in another market as late as 1990. I thought the jingle was dated by '90, but that station probably had a much lower budget.
...Channel 3 News Turn to 3." Production staff at WKYC TV Cleveland created this. Doreen Gentsler, lead co-anchor of TV 3 News, is pictured with Cleve. on-air personaiities. The lovely Miss Gentsler went south, then, ended up as the long term co-anchor at WRC 4 Washington, D.C. I recall with pleasure lighting her cigarette at a lounge near the station. What was the name of that bar/restaurant on the southeast corner of Superior and E. 6th St.?
WFLA then WXFL in Tampa used Turn To News as just an image campaign from 1985-1992. That promo at 30:07 is from 1986 and there is one floating around from 1991. Turn To replaced a great image campaign that was a victim of low ratings at the station “The Spirit of Tampa Bay” also by Frank Gari. WFLA used Turn To for promos and sign on/off music only but used 615’s Power News during that whole time for news programming.
I kinda wish WUHF in Rochester had kept the same logo and jingle. Too bad Wilmorite had bought it and mucked everything up. Also, I'm kinda jealous of how much more creative the jingles were for other cities.
my takes: KYW 3, I knew they had to include some sangin in there, cause philly is home to some soulful music up there. WCPX 6, they could’ve did the ending with a shot of walt disneyworld at night with the fireworks going off over the castle and fantasyland/fantasy in the sky if it was going on.
KGBT lost the CBS affiliation to KVEO 23.2 (now branded CBS 4) as compensation for the blotched Sinclair-Tribune merger. KVEO moved into KGBT's former Harlingen studios, and Nexstar bought KGBT from Sinclair. The "Turn To" song was used by a Texas newspaper, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, with the slogan "Reach for a Star."
@@rhapsodyshadow_ I recall hearing radio ads with this, but can't locate them. One focused on high school football coverage, referring to teams like the Itasca Wampus Cats, and airing during a scoreboard show on KRLD 1080 Dallas.
I Like That KSN in Wichita Had Turn to 3 From Back in my Younger days and KSNF Had Your TV Friend And i thought that KSNT in Topeka Had Turn To 27 But I'm Not Shore About That
I love Frank Gari's voice. That perfect "lounge singer" style.❤

WNCT-TV (CBS channel 9, Greenville, NC) used this tune in 1993-94...that's the station I first heard this tune on!
I forgot an ident from them, but I do remember it being "Turn To 9"

WXFL used parts of NBC's 1986 Come Home campaign for its Turn To image campaign.
The WBRC 6 version I have heard frequently during the 1980s. I grew up in Birmingham AL. Now I live in Geneva NY.

30:38 Hey, you found me!
This is a wonderful Complation, Maybe you can do one for hello news?
You actually forgot to put WPXI channel 11 in Pittsburgh because they had one between 2002-2004
I'm glad I'm not the only one that noticed. WPXI's version isn't on this list.
@@TJTempleMediaMe neither.
WLOS (ABC 13 in Asheville, NC) aired their version of this campaign and the closing lyrics were "Turn to 13 Together".
Wait, really? Where can I find that promo?
“News and a whole lot more, Tarrant county reaches for the Fort Worth star telegram!”
I'm looking for that promo as well! Do you happen to know where it can be found?
WTVJ 4 was Cbs Before going nbc in 89 and then went to channel 6 in 95

Is there actual evidence of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram using this? I gotta see this, my curiosity is piqued.

KTVK 3 had a version too. I don't think anyone uploaded it though.

Would be great to see the WXIX-TV entertainment version from the 80s!
I knew WXIX had a version of it, it has just yet to surface on YT, hopefully someone like Cyle Dickens can find it
You should put turn to news music from WVEC in Virginia Beach or Norfolk Virginia or WNCTTV9 Greenville North Carolina
