Reminds me of RDC 1 2 and 3 owned by Australian National Railways that used to run to Whyallah, SA. Really nice to travel on!

We need to clone Howard Wise. He's got his hands full with SP 9010 at the moment, but a full restoration would be right up his alley.

That was an outstanding presentation John. You do great videography and your editing is superb. I’m sure most of your viewers have no idea of how much work is involved in this type of production. Keep up the great work!

Great job John. Well presented with very interesting commentary from individuals who operated & are restoring the RDC. You made my Saturday morning coffee enjoyable and informative. Thanks for posting your work.

We've been making a great team since the 1980s! Truth be told, she has always been the most helpful person to TSG Multimedia, ready and willing to help any time anywhere, and never a negative drain on the situation, never distracted by her cell phone, never making rude unnecessary remarks to host(s) that I would have to apologize for later, never wanting to cut out as early as possible. Nope, always willing, always giving, seeking connections, working tirelessly behind the scenes, even when one of the beneficiaries showed no gratitude whatsoever - being expected to slave away in perpetuity with no financial (or other) consideration at all... And some of the most important programs stemmed from her ideas during hikes. "How about a program for beginners? Something I would understand that explains all that train talk?" Sound like anything you've seen on the channel? My hero and someone worthy of more credit than she receives. TSG Multimedia might not even exist without her. I took a break from Podcast Week editing to address this comment. :)

@@tsgmultimedia... Wonderful video of this RDC! Great job! I'm one of the "broken hearts" when he said the resto was only going to be cosmetic... but, I certainly understand their point as well, but as an ardent fan of the RDC's and all things powered by 2 cycle Detroit Diesels (especially the 6-110's).... I'm "broken hearted".... but Not Nearly as badly, if he had said they were going to do a Full Operational restoration... but swapping out the Detroits, and re-powering with some 4 cycle (as some have done!) such as Cummins.... that Just isn't "right"!!
Have you any idea on how the restoration has progressed since you shot this video & interviews?? I haven't been able to find any updates on it... : (
PS: I subscribed to your channel after the first video of yours that I found and watched a couple of years ago... and I've "liked" every one of them, since.... Including all the videos on Scale Model RR's... keep up the good work, it's Greatly enjoyed and appreciated! ; )

It's a good thing Mike Bording knew it was there, or Scott might not have been able to rescue it. I think it will make a great centerpiece for the SPRHC in Rocklin!

Great piece of history. You captured the RDC very well, John. Its restoration will serve as a fitting tribute to its history on the Espee.

Thanks, Tom! I was really excited to have the opportunity to see the Budd car and talk to people who actually worked on it when it was in service. It was a great experience and all the people were super-nice.

Great video! I remember seeing this in Galveston for the longest time. One of my favorite pieces of equipment on the museum grounds. I'm gonna miss her, but I'm glad she's got a new home.
And another thing. The Center for Transportation and Commerce was the official name of the Galveston Railroad Museum. It wasn't a "fictitious name".
Added note: I am very disappointed at all of the negativity towards the Galveston Railroad Museum. The museum did everything they could to keep the car in the best shape as possible. Of course, they couldn't fully restore the car, because the museum suffered over $8 Million in damages due to Hurricane Ike. The bashing is unnecessary. The museum held on to the car, and they knew how special this car was to the history of Southern Pacific. In the future, I ask you to stop bashing the museum, please. They couldn't do much after Ike. Without the Galveston Railroad Museum, you guys wouldn't have the honor of owning the only Budd RDC that the Southern Pacific ever owned.

    Lovely video....stable camera, good sound!
Excellent work from TSG...maybe adding more B-roll would make it perfect, especially for historical stuff!
Hope TSG will follow up of the Bud and show us how the work is coming on! Its a shame they wont make work.....
America was built on these machines....
I use to take one (Canadian Pacific) from Ottawa to Montreal and back every second week weekend from 1961 to 1965 during my school years...in those days I believe they were running in pairs.
PS...get Dan to make a one of a kind HO model....for a change from SDs! Lol.....

Great Video.... so, what's going on with it now... in July 2022? Has it been restored or ?? Nothing was said of the twin Detroit 6-110N's... are they still under it in the racks, or have they been removed? If so.. what was done with them? I've been looking for one, either in good running condition, or in solid re-buildable or re-man condition.

What color is her nose going to be painted? I hope they give it the pretty scarlet bloody nose!

    • @tsgmultimedia
      @tsgmultimedia  6 років тому +1

I did not ask, but if the prototype photos are an indication, I think it was delivered with an all silver body, before bloody nose scheme was a thing.
