The Gold Cup is softer and feel more comfortable, but it just can't keep the form sturdy (wide feet). About the sizing, the material on the GC stretch overtime, I'm wide feet, 12Us on running shoes, 11.5us on converse, Im currently having 12us Gold Cup but it loosen up, would def down a half size.
Rad Sperrys. Been wearing them since the 2010s My go-to shoes for spring/summer. I usually wear them sockless. I have to go a size up in 10W. Since I have a wide foot, lol.
hi, just my opinion but you should condition more, especially if you don't live somewhere humid. a good deep conditioning every month produces the best results for me and i live in quite humid area (north fl). if you do use them as actual boat shoes, make sure you're using conditioner rich in waxes or applying waxes yourself through creams or hard polishes (hard polishes i personally do not recommend for boat shoes due to their inherently casual nature)
Regularly moisturizing can help but also factor in that if you place inserts that can be a good option when they're being stored. I've seen people iron the creases out with a wet towel but I don't know how permanent of an option that is
@Striker50_ Yeah, basically, I'm just curious about their current condition. Like a "that was then, this is now" type of deal. That's if you've even had an opportunity to break any of them in more of course, lol.
@@sean3162 lol you're not going to believe it but I still haven't worn the gum colored ones. They're still in the box. I wear the two-tone ones to the beach and they're great. The Gold cups are slightly more comfortable but run a little smaller in size. The Gold cups will take a little longer to stretch because the leather is thicker. But I have worn the standard sperrys for years and they are incredible. I'm sure if someone is heavier these aren't the most comfortable shoes because they don't have the most support. For average people though these are incredible. Wouldn't recommend walking around all day in them but it can definitely be done
@Striker50_ Wow, I don't think I have a pair of Sperrys that I don't wear at some point throughout the year, lol.. So, really, none of your Sperrys have actually broken in yet?
I know they sell inserts and you could possibly stuff them and iron them with a wet towel over the leather Try looking up how to get creases out of shoes
@@Striker50_ Since I am not wearing socks with my Sperry, the thin insoles (full and not the 3/4 ones) are just right. If you wear socks, then it will be a bit tight. So far, they never slipped out when I used them. Of course, they should fit well inside your shoes so they won't slip out. Some insoles can be cut to fit your foot/shoe size and there are lines as guide where to cut. Some also have adhesive at the back. There are insoles for those with flat feet and they are not that thin (so don't choose those). There are many kinds of thin insoles especially ones that absorb sweat and are washable. When it comes to water, the ones made of gel will do fine. However, the washable foam ones can also get wet but then, you do need to wash them afterwards to avoid bacterial growth.
I had my Sperry traditional for over like 11 years now... these things are going strong...They do smell bad, and they are very dirty so I don't wear them out in public.. I only wear them when I do like yard work, but I'm telling you. you'll never find shoes that last this long..
Agreed! I think the traditionals are way more of a work horse because of the interior. If you DIDN'T know, Costco is selling the traditional Sahara leather sperrys like in this video for $60! It's on their online site only. They had them for $50 for about 2 weeks with a discount
Ahhhh, but are the good on deck, you know, of a boat?! How you test them: Put your hand inside the shoe, push the sole against a strong piece of glass and try to slide it on the glass. Good deck shoes won't slide easily and are safer on a boat. Don't trust a cubicle cowboy with your life!
I choose gold cup, they're like butter, but they only last one year if you fish hard. Qiality has gone down consistently over the last 30 years. The Timberland is a much better boat shoe, they'll last years.
dude you're like Thanos: you can't find any video on it so you just take the matter into your own hands! XD please review Doc Martens, too! and Solovair!

This is the best comparison review I think I've ever seen, literally! I love that you went into so much detail. Thanks very much!
Glad you found it useful! The only thing that's left to do is to cut them open lmao!

Can’t you just tighten the laces when it loosens?
Thank you! I wa looking for a review line yours.. Nice shoes indeed.
They're both really nice; consider the gold cup for nicer outings, and the regular for more daily wear and that you can occasionally beat up 💥
Great video!! I'm having bad time comparing Gold Cup vs Merton from Ralph Lauren 😅
Thanks! And why is that?
Nice breakdown man

Same, sockless is the way to go!
Where can i find the light tan coloured sperry to buy @2:43? I mean with the brown bottoms, everyone i see in stores are white bottoms
@@dangelowalker3112 check the Sperry website, occasionally they have different colors on the bottom

To make the other shoes more comfortable, you can buy thin insoles. That's what I do.
Interesting. They don't fit too tight or move around? Also how are they with water?

@@whatevergoesforme5129 ah Nice good to know
biggest thing for me is the interior of gold cups are softer
They certainly are. I think at the same time they're not as durable though which is a flaw in a way because I personally want them to last for years
@Striker50_ thats a fact! I burn through the rubber soles more than anything else.
@Striker50_ also obsessed with the handmade ones, love the colors just cant pay that much 😐

How to buy it? I'm in China
I don't know how the websites work in China if I'm being honest. Go to Sperry website
I’ve looked at both. They’re the same shoe. It’s branding bull shit. I don’t get it.
There certainly are material and structure differences granted the price difference is steep
