PS1 Or N64 ?
N64
Ps1 ma man 😎🔥
N64
Super Mario All Stars (1993) SNES vs Wii vs NintendoSwitch
N64
N64 version has the best graphics and gameplay, but de PS1 version has the best sound.
Not to mention the PS1 version has better lighting
A versión with the 3D visuals of N64 with the sound and lighting of PS1 that was de definitive version ¿you don't?
Exactly haha I just commented that
The reason why the PS1 version has the best sound is because of the N64 cartridge
(Nintendo 64 cartridges usually hold 64 MB)
@RetroAcid Who are you talking to ?
I wonder if there's a way to combine the best elements of each version (N64 load times and controllers; PSX audio quality) with other minor improvements (upscaled textures) as well as console exclusive stuff, and create a "definitive version"
There's a psp version that I believe does that
@@johnjohnson6142 there's also a PC version for this game which is essentially what you see with dreamcast ports for games releases around this time. N64 graphics and HQ sound.
@@PJxBuchwild Unfortunately, the PC build has both graphics and sound issues. Lighting is completely missing from the PC version which ruins the shadows. The soundtrack is also a low quality version of the PS1 soundtrack, however there is a patch to fix that
They had a pc port back in the day
Also what’s cool about pc is you can choose wether you want to run it in software or hardware accelerated mode to make it look more like the ps1 or n64 versions respectively
A proper 3d perspective on the N64 thanks to the Z buffering which is not supported on the PS1, also, the mip mapping on N64 made the textures look kinda blurry and since PS1 doesn't also support mip mapping, it's textures did look better than N64's textures.
Blurry, but hd than ps1.
@@JackfrostAtreidesOmegaXZero I agree
Retard alert!
Z buffering has nothing to do with perspective correct mapping. You can turn it off even and get a performance improvement in many cases.
I keep seeing people complain about the "floor squares" on Mega Man 64. However, that's just an emulation issue, as those aren't present when the game is played on the original Nintendo 64 hardware. I hope this helps.
Agreed, runs fine on mupen 64 rice as of now
Fun fact: this game wasn’t called mega man legends on the n64, it was actually called mega man 64.
It showed in the video lol
bruh
Cause it has 64 the bits that’s why or is it because their console is called N64 and every game must have the number 64 in every game just to remind them that it’s in 3D.
imagine coming onto a video & stating a blatant fact everyone knows. lol
But both are called Rockman DASH in japan
PlayStation: Better dithering, textures, music and draw distance.
Nintendo 64: Better gameplay, screen resolution, no "3D flickering" and slightly nicer color palette.
Draw distance? Jajajaja. Is clearly better on N64 xD 0:39
It’s weird that this game has so many secrets
why does n64 look so much better?
The original playstation is famous for texture warping and model warping due to the way it renders 3D environments. This game is actually one of the least affected by it since it was designed with simple character textures and boxy environments, but it's really noticeable when you look at something like Metal Gear Solid.
N64 didn't have this warping issue, but it came at a cost to performance,, so there was less storage for textures or poly counts,, on top of the midi sound files. N64 kind of "cheated" on its textures though, using a bilinear filter. This meant that even though a texture was only, for example,, 64x64 pixels it was able to be stretched across a plane and the colors blurred to hide the pixely nature of the texture. This was even more evident on original CRT monitors, which smoothed things further
Since Mega Man Legends used such low resultion textures in the first place to get around the texture warping of the PS1, the only effect the n64 really needed to do was smooth the image and work around the polygon warping, resulting in a more consistent image.
the sound of those footsteps still haunt me

Does anyone else feel that the fog makes sense in this game, because the world is mostly water?
Wow on the N64 it looks a lot better. They even that controls on the N64 plays much better than the PS1 version, but the one thing the PS1 version is good for is better sound quality than the N64. It’s amazing that a cartridge is showing better graphics than the CD.
@Noel Enrrique Santana Zapata in English please.
@Noel Enrrique Santana Zapata yes thank you.
Until the end of the 90s with the Dreamcast and PC games (at higher settings) the storage medium didn’t mean much for graphics.
Because the Playstation was a 32 bit system that used CD quality studio for sound but more space because of the disc. The n64 is, well a 64 bit system but reduced sound quality due to less space on cartridges. So better graphics on the 64 version.
The N64 is more powerful than the PS1
The PS1 had better texture and sound because of storage space
Wow, I'd played this on PS1 when I was a kid, but the N64 version looks so much smoother (except maybe in the floor textures-you can see gaps in the floor in the N64 version).
That's from it being emulated.
Ps1 Legendary anyway 😎🔥
N64*

PS1 pros:
Good audio
PS1 cons:
Worse resolution than n64
Doesn't have analog sticks
I guess that's a W for the n64...?
This differences were significant enough for me to want to get the n64 version honestly.
I can see the difference. One look better and other sounded better
None of this footage was recorded on real hardware, right?
im a little suspicious of this comparison, why is the n64 footage in a modern resolution and a high framerate?
@@stavros3438 Exactly, it evidently has been recorded from an emulator. It's not a fair comparison when one of them isn't an actual representation of how the game was meant to look on the different hardware
@@DeepWeeb The inaccurate N64 emulation also even hurts it too. When emulators don’t get the three point trilinear right, it results in many games looking worse.
I was thinking the same thing because some visual bug that we see in the video on n64 is not present on the n64 itself.
I’ll be playing through these Gems again soon.
so you record the n64 footage on emulator at high res and leave the ps1 at lower resolution? that's a bias
If they had released the 2nd game to the n64. It would've been super rare. And they could released the hd versions with fix it wity twin analog controls.
N64 clear winner.
1 looks stock the other looks upscaled.
I had no idea the difference in detail between the 2.
Mega Man kinda sound like Pit from Kid Icarus
PS1 version on an emulator with the graphics tweaked, is the way to go.
I prefer the textures on the PS1. I like the sharper pixelated look of the textures on the PS1 over the really blurry textures on the n64.
That sharper look is a result of displaying the PS1 output on a modern display. While the PS1 had texture and model warping, the edges of models and pixels would have been smoothed pretty substantially on the hardware it was designed to be displayed on. Both games would look about equally "blurry" in their day.
Didn't know N64 was capable of fullHD graphics. Great!
Ps1 too, use duckstation, is the best ps1 emulator
@@Manerick I think he was being sarcastic. How can we compare this two versions using an emulator with graphic enhancements
@@takodrew6043 this. Lol. The PS1 feed in the video doesn't have the internal resolution increased, but the N64 does. It's an unfair comparison. Lol
@@NerdPorkArsonist fwiw the emulated n64 also has issues of its own that aren't present on real hardware, like the ground texture gaps.
Now that we have the results, we have to combine the N64 And PS1 versions together
i like n64 VERSION
N64: Loadings e Gráficos
PS1: Draw Distance e Som/Música
First of all, this video is objectively unfair. PlayStation is obvious native, well the N64 is emulated. If one was going to be emulated to showcase the advantages of the computer, then emulate the PlayStation version as well. The PlayStation on computer can show off some of its best performance, minus warping still being the same. Most notable thing the PlayStation version could have showed in this video with emulation is anti-aliasing and reduced load times, competing much better with the emulated N64 version.
Now then, the real pros and cons.
_PlayStation:_
+ Sharper textures.
+ Superior sound quality.
+ Farther fog distance.
+ Consistent frame rate.
- Machine inaccurate rendering.
- Jaggie edges.
- Load times.
- Worse controls.
_Nintendo 64:_
+ Seamless rendering.
+ Anti-aliasing.
+ No load times.
+ Better controls.
+ Refined character UV maps.
- Blurry textures.
- Inferior sound quality.
- Nearer fog distance.
- Inconsistent frame rate.
- Background detail having inconsistent quality.
It is a hard sell for me, but I just have to give it to Mega Man 64. I very much like the refinements it made, despite the inferior sound quality. Fog can be tweaked on emulation to negate one of the N64 cons. Though, a texture pack would need to be in order for it to fix background detail. I would much prefer the textures of the character models remain the same, though. Simply being upscaled because I prefer how the UV maps look. If emulation can tweak sound quality, would be nice to have the cleaner SFX and possibly uncompressed music.
But, even if I played it on real hardware, the N64 version would still be my go-to. Might have thought a bit more differently if the PlayStation had utilized analog, though. Movement and camera control would have been superior hands down with the two joysticks.
There was a PC port as well.
I would love a remastered version of this game 💕 like what they did for FF8
Do Zelda twilight princess (2006) Gamecube vs Wii vs Wii U which one is better
I like the resolution of the N64, but the weakness is the texture mapping. Over all, the N64 looks sharper.
Yeah, all those gaps in the texture tiles would drive me crazy trying to play the N64 version
Try evoluton of yoshi games.
I feel this is disingenuous. The resolution shown for n64 is far higher than it is on an actual console. This makes it look like its running on a dreamcast or something.
most textures look better on psx except for the texture warping that every game suffers from but n64 has a cleaner hud and overall image quality, and better draw distance
Personally I prefer PS1 because honestly the low quality sound, muddied textures, and the lesser draw distance of the N64 release really kill it for me. That's not to say the 64 version is bad or has no redeeming qualities, I feel like the N64 version DOES have some neat perks the PS1 version doesn't. It's just how I personally feel about this game.
The one that doesn’t sound like the actors have their hands over their mouths.
I like the two versions.
ps1 version has larger texture resolution than n64 version buat has no texture filtering, also n64 render the geometry properly and has no overlapping triangles, but ps1 has further render distance
Earthbound
Snes versión vs Wii U versión
The Wii u version is emulated, there are no differences between the two
In graphics, N64 wins, but the sound is better at Ps1. I cannot talk about gameplay since I have never played it but I would like to
Emulation
@@ba11ard Yeah I know.
N64 version natively renders at 1080p according to this video, so it is the clear winner.
If you're gonna have the N64 version look better by emulating it, then what is the point of the video?
Weird we didn't get Mega Man X4-6 or Mega Man 8 on N64. They very easily could have run. Or were the FMV cutscenes too important?
Why does the N64 version look so high resolution? It's normally blurry.
ps1 for that juicy texture warping 😋
I dont think ive ever saw a n64 game that looked better than ps1. I remember like yesterday hearing the announcement of it going to n64. I didnt care cuz the playstation controller was better but wow its so much cleaner on 64

Team Sonic Racing (2019): PS4 vs Nintendo Switch vs Xbox One vs PC
Is N64 suppose to look clear like that? I'd understand lower-quality texture but higher resolution, but not to the point it looks HD.
The N64 version seems to have a wider FOV. Any way to get numbers on that?
Generally does. Think PS1 generally stretches pixels over using native res. So you're more so right than anything. But the reasoning is likely PS1 just the fact PS1 is lower res generally
you can have the best of both worldsthat uses Zbuffer and FSR and clean audio with duckstation Hardware renderer and vulkan api. Also N64 has texture img corruption on the floors in the boss room causing line gaps that are black in the floor but not the ps1. who ever converted the images probably messed it up alittle.
Should of known N64 you can always “DO A BARRLE ROLL!” Lol
I like the PS1 version. Which is yours favourite version?
Graphics are similar, PS1 is more pixelated while N64 is more smooth. I have to go with the PS1 version because it still has its charm. no disrespect to the N64, but the sounds in the PS1 version are better
Super Mario Maker (2015-2019): Wii U vs Nintendo 3DS vs Nintendo Switch
PS1 sound + draw distance. N64 textures remind me Starfox 64 dirt-grass but worse everywhere
N64 only renders at a higher resolution. the PSX version has higher quality on every other metric here. less muddy textures, better sound since it doesn't all need to be compressed into a tiny package for the cartridge capacity, the PSX was also capable of better lighting and other effects. The N64's ability to render at a higher resolution is completely marred by how muddy all the environments look. PSX is the superior experience for this one.
You should specify the emulators you are using
N64: Sharper and cleaner graphics. Greater drawing depth.
PS1: Better sound and more detailed textures.
Conclusion: Tie.
i like the ps1 more cuz they have more rounded face+the pixelate environment, but on the other hand n64 have more lively feeling
playstation all-stars battle royale ps vita vs ps3
Wow. The N64 version looks much sharper and brighter. The N64 version has lower rating though. That's probably just because it was released a few years after the original version.
There are a few games like Toy Story 2 and A Bug's Life that look better on PS1 though.
The only thing that's keeping me from going back and enjoying this game is the controls for the character. It's just too stiff
This is not a good comparison. MM64 is being ran through an emulator, creating grid lines all over the place while not even emulating the frame skipping that version has. MM64 is supposed to have VERY terrible framerate on actual hardware, where the frame skipping holds the game's pacing unlike the emulator here slowing down and speeding up. The emulator here also makes it look MUCH clearer than it actually is. It's like MM64 is being done dirty while also trying to help it out at the same time. Please don't use emulators when comparing N64 games.
It also baffles me how anyone here is saying MM64 looks better and plays better when those are quite objectively false. It has to use more fog to compensate for its lowered draw distance, textures are blurry, several area maps are awkwardly altered, music from the music shop got cut, a proper credits song was cut, the bad framerate on hardware makes it feel unbelievably sluggish to play, and it's played on an N64 controller where it has more cumbersome control layout. The stick is still only 8-way movement like the Dpad is. Lots more minor changes that I'm not gonna go into that I very much dislike.
The PC and PSP ports aren't good either, for various other reasons. Best way to experience this game is the PS1 version either on hardware or through a modern emulator such as Duckstation, not ePSXe.
So N64 has better graphics but PS1 has better audio.
PS1's texture much better than N64's
I played this game on the N64 as a kid, I'm playing it on PS1 now to see how different it is. Visually, I prefer N64 since models don't look like cubes mashed together. Controls also factor in a better camera system. Sound is SO much better in PS1 though, wow.
I remember as a kid not being able to understand the story on n64 because the audio was so bad.
@@PurpleRupees I didn't have that much of a problem, but I also can understand that. It's so much more muffled that even with the volume cranked it can be tough to make it out.
@@SuicidalImpulse I've always had an issue with distinguishing words when things aren't clear. This is often an issue in old movies as well for me.
@@PurpleRupees Fun fact; a lot of "old movies" sound bad because the audio has been heavily filtered and at times come from higher generation sources. Wide public perception that older movies just sounded bad and muffled is because of "restorative" work to get rid of tape hiss. This in turn didn't help them and actually destroyed dynamic range. Interesting stuff!
Ps1 better lighting and if you're emulating the game like I am I'm rendering it at 4K so while Sprite and texture stuff is still low or Rez the the lines of the character's body and ships and things like that are incredibly sharp. The mix is actually really Charming so if emulating I prefer PS1
Are the controls really as clunky as they look?
N64 has better shading and anti-aliasing but slightly blurred textures.
My Talking Tom Friends (2020) Comparison Android VS iOS VS PC please😿😭
In short, N64 has higher quality 3d geometry and better rendering resolution. PS has better texture.
Nintendo ripped off of Capcom. This is the style of BOTW.
PS1 easily. Both play great at high res via emulator and the PS1 version is just much more visually crisp and has way better sound. For this particular game it's a clear case of the game already being really well optimized around the PS1's hardware, so the "improvements" offered on N64 weren't really that needed.
I don't believe that N64's bilinear filtering was always right for textures. In this case I feel like it obscures detail and it clearly warps or stretches some textures that weren't meant to be filtered that way. 3:00 the vent holes around the robot's waist. WTF happened on the N64 version? 3:20 On N64 the grass and flowers on the cliff edge being noticeably stretched while the ones on the flat ground surface aren't. Because of this the character and environment textures are outright better on PS1 with both games running at 1440p. Not only that but you can implement texture filtering via PS1 emulators and get a superior result to the N64. Beetle PSX HW's Jinc filtering combined with the setting to only filter 3D textures gives kickass image quality. Almost universally an improvement in every 3D game.
Also, the model jittering and texture warping is minimal in the PS1 version because it was well built around the PS1's limitations. So while texture warping is noticeably improved on N64, it's not a major upgrade because it wasn't really one of the games where it was a big problem. You can also fix it via PGXP hacks in modern PS1 emulators. I play most 3D PS1 games with PGXP and with that alone some of them totally outclass their N64 counterparts.
Additionally, N64 is totally visually flat whereas PS1 has lighting gradients and simulated depth of field and other visual flairs. PS1 also has longer draw distance and fog distances. Also, it's not a terrible controlling N64 game but the "analog" controls are really just the stick simulating a digital d-pad anyway. There are far better controlling N64 titles. The PS1 just has an outright better control layout.
If you compare both on original hardware, the N64 is actually a legitimately solid port for the time. It gave gamers a decent copy of the game with a slight resolution and model update even if PS1 still worked, sounded, and played better. However comparing both being played via emulator, the N64 basically only has rounder models for characters and everything else is far worse.
This comparison is not made over real hardware but emulation, so is not fair to make a veredict.
Do Super Mario Galaxy (2007) Wii VS Wii U VS Nintendo Switch
Do George Of The Jungle (2008) Nintendo DS VS PS2 VS Wii
Man the ps1 was lacking big time with this game
controlls weren't great on either console, slightly better on N64 but the PS1 texture wobbling is awful. I would love to see a fan remake on pc.
Super Mario Sunshine (2002): Gamecube vs Wii vs Nintendo Switch

The N64 version looks better, the audio file sounds terrible obviously against the PSX version.
Such a beautiful game!!!
I like ps1.
Do Team Sonic Racing (2019) Nintendo Switch VS Xbox One VS PS4 VS PC
the textures aliasing looks gross, the transparency and lighting effects are borked, the sound is coming out of a moldy potato, and just overall the N64 version straight up looks like it's been dragged through the mud... gotta give this to the Playstation in pretty much every single way.
I will play the two versions ❤
after playing both, ps1 is better, not only do the textures look better but sound is too, controls are fine the person doing the comparison wasn't playing correctly
emulation is better on ps1 also
This video is misleading; it's showcasing what the N64 version did better, without touching on important shortcomings... here's a list I copied from somebody expounding upon those shortcomings/advantages. If I had only seen this video I would have thought 64 was the definitive version.
Most objects that glow, such as Refractors, no longer look bright and glowing and look dark instead.
The voices were downsampled to fit onto the cartridge. If you've played ZX Advent, you know what I mean. It's not THAT bad, but still.
There is analog control, however it's not true analog and it's basically just the D-pad on a stick. It's also oversensitive. I'm not sure if you can still use the D-pad.
There is some rumble, like when MegaMan gets knocked down.
Much faster load/save times.
SLOWDOWN. This is the biggest problem. Even textboxes suffer from slowdown sometimes.
No CD samples in the Electronics store.
The credits theme is removed and replaced with the Bank theme for some reason.
A lot more fog. The PSX version already has fog, so it's more noticeable here.
Graphics have antialiasing, and there are a couple of added effects. One of the final boss's attacks is more colorful for instance.
Why are you using an emulator?
N64 it has the best graphics and controls but the sounds are better on the ps1 but in terms of gameplay and graphics and the N64 and sound and the PS1
control? are u nuts
I hated camera movement overall, but it looks better on 64, curiously, it lack shading and sound quality.
