    I used to love operating the 657B.

    That's actually a pretty ingenious way. Bet it speeds up the process quite a bit since it doesn't require other pushers to sync in with the line. Neat stuff.

    It's nice to see CAT still makes a nice macho looking scraper, not like their goofy looking smaller scrapers. Hopefully the K's will carry on with this look.

      The hs and ks are ugly and I heard the controls have changed. I like the gs and dont want to get into anything else.

    The #234 operator doesn't know when to close and dumps a lot of his load ! #263 knows what he is doing and is a good operator !

    My first thought at suddenly getting all the scraper videos recommended was "who the hell would find these interesting?" Then I realized that I can watch airplane videos quire happily.

    I miss running a scraper. I was just in a Terex TS-14 doing jobs for new road sections and yard sites, this looks like a whole different ball game. We only had 2 scrapers and a D10 dozer. Is this clearing for a quarry?

    Why isn't this used in strip mines? It seems off the shelf items like this would be cheaper than stripping shovels?

      BRENDAN GALLAGHER depends on operator preference, I like the Es personally they are smoother and more powerful and the Cabs in the 57s are big and spacious i have more fun with the 3 levers vs the joysticks

    These scrapers have such low sides on the bowl and always leave a windrow

    • @SoCalEarthMovers
      @SoCalEarthMovers  8 років тому +2

      The way CAT designed them to be, sideboards=more wear and tear, plus machines are making money on hour basis;)

    • @cthunter41
      @cthunter41 6 років тому +1

      It's actually more of a functional design than a flaw, its impossible to overfill the bowl. Everything has limits and overfilling can cause undo stress and wear on the machine. Trying to get another 2 yards in there usually isn't worth it. Also if it didn't come out over the sides the only place extra fill would go would be over the back into the second power unit. IMO anyways, I am by no way an operator or engineer
