i own an old c3 1.1 2001 model from 2006. It needed some adjustment but now i use it for working (as a pizza guy) and twice a month i give her a long trip (about 300 km per trip) for seeing my girlfriend. I drove a land rover freelander 2 from my mom and a dacia lodgy from my father and, despite the obvious way way more powerful engine of the freelander, i cannot ask anything better than my citycar, it just works like a charm!
Brilliant little car :) We have ours for 7 years now (it is a 2003 model year) and i can only recommend. That 50kw 1.4hdi is almost bullet proof and the only think you will have to eventually do is the turbo but thats it when it comes to the engine. Our C3 has 270 000km still with original set of injectors and is running strong. It also has some mods like a remap and intercooler from 1.6hdi (it has no intercooler from the factory) and i can tell you that it did wonders for the car and now it is actually fun to drive ! :) It gives legit 50MPG in city with ease and much more when you are out of traffic ! One of the best first car options for sure if you ask me :)
I had a 206 with this engine and it was a nightmare. It cost me almost €2k in repairs over a year - injectors, pulleys... everything went on it. However everyone has different experiences - I just think when it comes to old cars a large amount of luck is involved.

If it has been well maintained, this car is a very good car. My girlfriend has one like this (mk 1, 2nde model, 2008) and it's a great car. It's easy to service, fun to drive and reliable. We put a 2 din head unit as radio and that made it new !
@@AdmW9609 it's a 7 inch. I've bought it on ebay, it's cheap no name chinese thing 🤣 I bought an adapter ISO, and 2din installation frame. I modified the frame a little (i'm a mechanic). After that, I've made a front frame with wood to hide the holes on the edges 😅
It looks good and is very comfortable (source: I have a 2008 gasoline C3) even for a 185 cm, 116 kilo guy like me. It's the most comfortable car I've ever driven
I had the same one but in white ! the small turbo is very useful in highway driving ! and in the city, the engine transforms like a normal one ! very nice this 1.4 HDI :)

@@owenglenn4298 The injector joint are the only common problem with the 1.4 hdi on the first batch of c3 (before the relift), and even then it's not really an issue as it is not "dangerous", just a pain (you have a smell of diesel coming from the vents) and still it's easily fixable by changing said joint. Other than that, it's a really strong little unit, not as legendary as the 2.0 hdi yeah, but still strong.

Recently the ride has become harsh at the rear and if hitting a pothole when cornering it's thrown off course a little. I thought bushes, but garage can't see anything wrong - any ideas?
I am not sure how is it called in english, but try checking your wheel bearing/head (the round, metal thing carrying your wheel) because I had similar issues and mine was completely shattered
I like thoose funky old citroens, I even owned one ( 1996 citroen zx 1.9 td). But what i dont like is torsion suspension on the back. its rly soft and fragile, but still so expencive to repair

possiedo un auto identica però anno 2002, divertente da guidare anche se il computer di bordo e tutti gli indicatori potevano essere fatti decisamente meglio....per il resto e considerando quanto costa ideale per chi non ha troppe pretese chi vuole di più ci sono le 1.4 90CV o le 1.6 110CV a me la mia piccola 1.4 68CV per andare fino a 100/110km è più che sufficiente

I have a C3 2008, bought it at 190.000km, now at 330.000km and the engine runs even better after being driven daily on a highway.

not gonna lie, i think this Interior looks quite lovely! Never looked inside an old C3 and i must say, wow!

Reliable my arse! Check the injector and fuel leak problems on this engines. For the HDI series, the bigger the better in terms of reliability.

Ops! Sorry, VTS version has 8K rpm gauge. My bad. But 1.6 gasoline C3 probably used this gauge.
That's the same in Diesel Dacias...
It probably shares the part with some gasoline versions
