Sorry for the late reply Yes, you can stay in the monastery and work remotely It is not mandatory to attend all the sessions, but there are some workshops and classes where you cannot skip any of the sessions For it, i will recommend you to ask the deer park institute directly You can spend your evenings outside Gate closing time is 10PM But please confirm the deer park institute first about all these things as they are the organisers of all the workshops and as I said there are some workshops where you can't do all these things One thing is mandatory You must be dedicated to learn something new in the monastery
You can take a direct bus from Amritsar or you can go to Chandigarh and take bus from there. In January, there will be snow on the way to Billing. Car will take you to the place where there is no snow, but after that you have to go by walk. So, I recommend you to confirm first before going to Bir.

While booking you can select kashmere gate as your boarding point and you can reach kashmere gate directly by metro. If you want to go to Majnu Ka Tilla then reach Vidhansabha metro station on yellow line by metro and ask any E-Rickshaw driver for Majnu Ka Tilla. He will drop you there and will take 20-30 rupees.

I stayed in a Monastery. You can try Trippy Tribe, Aditya Homestay etc. You can check for hotels online, but I will suggest you to book one near the landing site or Deer Park Institute because these places are at the centre of the main tourist area.
Bus tickets are cheaper, if you book them 1 or 2 days in advance. If you book them a month before then you will not get many options and tickets will also be expensive. I book tickets from Redbus

Driving licence is necessary. But you can ask, if they could give you a scooty on rent without having licence.
