Incredibly useful, thank you for the guide! - The in game tutorial is long, boring, slow and does a very poor job of preparing you for multiplayer - drop pods, orbital bombardments and additional units are completely left out of the tutorial, leaving a new player like myself dumfounded in my first game..
Not to mention the voice of the tutorial guide was incredibly annoying. Since I knew I'd be jumping straight into multiplayer, I wanted to take some time just watching how the units moved, how long their abilities took to recover etc. NO! As soon as you take longer than 5sec to do the tutorial objective, the guide would repeat "Move to the shield generators!" "Move to the shield generators!" "Move to the shield generators!" "Move to the shield generators!"
For example when you were talking about armor. It would've been nice to see some visual representation of how each damage type reacts to each armor. I feel like you've explained it clearly to an experienced player, but for a total newbie, it might be confusing.
Something I struggle with in this game as someone with a fairly small amount of experience in RTS games, is when you should build new buildings. I either find myself building everything all at once and having almost no units built because of the resources base building takes and getting destroyed by enemy units because of it, or just running around with a bunch of basic units for too long because I wait too long to build buildings. I'm really hoping for more guides on this game when it releases. Maybe you could include this topic at some point :) Maybe in a guide talking about build orders or something similar. Or perhaps just a guide on resource management in general. Something on building placement would also be very useful. Just some ideas for future tutorials in case you were planning on making some.
Yes! Definitely! I might have one or two of those up this week in fact! Build orders are very specific and immensely help your winchance, for sure, so I've expressively tried to optimize my starts as much as I can last beta and will cover those soon.
I started to play Eldar, and I hope Relic will nerf them. Got 26 wins and 1 defeat using Eldar. With SM it`s such a struggle, I`m sure you know it also on your own skin ;)
Great explanation of the basics, I'd add that Ork builders can build mech units directly from scrap wherever it is on the battlefield. Also, the Eldar actually own Orks early game with the banshee since most Ork players stick to melee units which get owned by eldar ;) For those who already realized that Orks are the coolest race, I could add an Ork basick tips video: ua-cam.com/video/xJFD47Imm_g/v-deo.html
hahaha daar is haasje weer . met weer precies de juiste tips. als t niet voor for honour is dan wel voor een rts. ga zo door . weinig doen dit beter dan jij . groeten uit 010
Is there a pause and order function? And if there is, is it locked to a certain key that some keyboards dont actually have or can it be remapped easilly with no external/3rd software usage...?
Really nice guide, thx a lot! I have 1 question about squad system. I found out on a some site information bout units in DOW3 so let me take an example: Tactical Squad: Health: 1400 Ranged DPS: 28 In SM tactical squad u have 4 models, So EVERY marine model deals 28 DPS? Or that number is for squad total? And what about when u will have 2/4 marines from squad live. Ur squad will deal 50% less damage?
Although I haven't been able to test it out that in-depth, basically yes. Assuming it is the same as previous DoWs (and from what I've played it definitely appears to be), every model has an individual set of health and deal damage individually to other models.
One example I can give you quite easily that confirms this actually, is that Ork Shootaz do 46 ranged DPS whereas Tactical Marines only do 28 ranged DPS. That makes it sound like Marines get slaughtered in a 1v1 right? They don't, the reason being Shoota Boyz die far faster and because they bleed models the actual damage output they do is significantly reduced as time goes on.
Hi! I just started playing a few days ago and i was wondering how relevant this tutorial is now, considering it is 3 years later and i'm sure there have been plenty of patches, nerfs and buffs to all aspects of multiplayer. Are there any aspects of this guide that have changed dramatically since its release? Thanks!
Bro my name is Haas too and I wanted to make a gaming UA-cam channel but then I stumbled upon yours and it was exactly what I wanted to make: a rabbit as my channel photo, the name Haas gaming, and gaming vids. 😣
a question both SM and ork final ability Orbital beam and rok bombardement can be manipulated by the enemie, I never saw tje same possibilitie with the eldar one
The eldar Storm is slow, doesn't do massive damages, but can make a "fusion" with an other unit to transform it into a sort of moving building, slowing and casting strong lightnings, this building can be destroyed, and knockbacking, stunning or any other disables thrown to it will cancel the fusion and retransform the Storm into the basic one, while the unit selected as the "canalizer" will still be alive but will not be able to do the fusion a certain amount of time. There is a video that explains that in the codex in-game, but I discovered it pretty late, so it's normal to not really understand how it works at first.
People that say blobbing works in DoW3 are hilariously wrong. Yea cover mechanics are gone, but there are WAY more sources of AoE that kill units very fast if you don't micro
Damn right, I just blobbed all my ranged space marines, about 5 6 units of devastators and tacticals, as I attacked and the guy had 3 banshee units that used their charge ability at the same time...all my units+my librarian died completely in 1 second.
Everytime you build a generator (requisition or power), which is of course required to get resources, the cost of the next generator is going to increase. So, for instance, if generator 1 costs 30 requisition then generator 2 might cost 35 requisition (dont know the actual numbers at the top of my head). So if you dont think you can hold the point, it's probably not worth making a generator there because it's going to make it harder to make new generators later.
wtf you can add buildings too.. then why didnt this work for me :S I was constantly thinking like... this is so annoying.. having to scroll back or click the minimap and then manually click the buildings it was really taking away a lot of my micro time.
Yeah I know. It's just that before now I thought buildings didn't get added to control groups but they just don't show icons of having actually been added to a control group. So I have to memorize and always use the same control groups for buildings otherwise I will forget.. I mean I simply thought that just as for your army the buildings would also show icons when being in a control groups guess that teaches me for thinking this makes sense.
well i guess there was a reason for you getting kicked out of the game. like failed internet connection or sth. and the game is not fully released, so don´t pick on sth you don´t know if it will be in the full version ;)
Magni56 nope those aoe effects become pretty useless after the 2nd or 3rd escalation phase. i tried playing strategically using cover, taking firing position, pincer movements etc all that accomplished was giving the enemy blob less concentrated fire to worry about and denying my units the healthpool to last the opening stages of any confrontation. trying to play this game strategically is a sure way to lose
does anyone even play it? looked at steam.. very negative reviews.. even the developer has lowered the game price 75% , it's 9.99€ atm on steam did dow2 veterans tilt out or smt? since i havent played these.. i just compared graphics , dow seems more polished and more pleasing for the eye (for me atleast..) i got interested slightly in this since i liked coh1-2 , seemed that they use same engine/mechanics
Lot of veterans did indeed tilt, but unfortunately they really messed up the eventual launch and never fixed any of the glaring issues it had within time so the population died out entirely.
Niklas Wörrle yes. this game has strategy for the first 5 minutes with hiding your assault marines in stealth cover. when yhat 5 minutes are up it basically ends up a battle of whi has the bigger blob. i.dont think you know what strategy is do you? or has probably never actually played dow 1or 2. or the ua mod, or dark crusade or soulstorm or winter assault. in thise games unit management could destroy a huge.blob in this the smaller blob doesnt have time to respond before your key units are dead. silly troll
Niklas Wörrle maybe try the original dow games, or coh or even ashes of the singularity if you want to see how rts games are supoosed to.work. go back to league of legends kid
now insulting only weakens your argument xD and as I said, I did play all of the different titles. and I don´t waste time playing titles like lol or dota 2
Apologies to the Ork fans for the incredibly low levels of Dakka.
7:16 the emergency recall ability also makes your Core invulnerable for the duration its winding up
so good. great for beginners like myself. Thanks.
Best guide I've seen so far
Incredibly useful, thank you for the guide! - The in game tutorial is long, boring, slow and does a very poor job of preparing you for multiplayer - drop pods, orbital bombardments and additional units are completely left out of the tutorial, leaving a new player like myself dumfounded in my first game..

Yeah the tutorial is the worst part of the game, it's so bad. Everything else I find acceptable though.
Its nice to see you doing videos again :3
Nice guide, it would have been perfect with some key words shown on screen while you explain them (makes remembering a lot easier).
Fair point of criticism, any part in particular you'd have liked to seen some keywords at?
For example when you were talking about armor. It would've been nice to see some visual representation of how each damage type reacts to each armor. I feel like you've explained it clearly to an experienced player, but for a total newbie, it might be confusing.

Perfect! Really looking forward to it!
Hey!!! I`m glad to see you on youtube, we played around 5-6 games during the 2nd closed beta!
I remember! We were some of the last people playing in the closed beta, some great matches. Still enjoying the game?
I started to play Eldar, and I hope Relic will nerf them. Got 26 wins and 1 defeat using Eldar. With SM it`s such a struggle, I`m sure you know it also on your own skin ;)
This was a GREEEHT Guide. Good Job man and hope this clears up some of the peeps narrow minded accusations and doubts about the game.
Thanks for posting! I am a newcomer in the series and such well-presented info is really important :)
Great to hear, glad it's useful!
Kostas K. welcome to dow ;) if you like this titel try the other ones out as well
Very informative. Thanks!
Glad it's useful, thanks for watching!

Should I get this game? I liked the previous editions of the game and love 40k. I also don't mind Mobas.
Thank's for subtitles :)

Greate Guide!

Well, for what it's worth, I highly approve of your classy avatar.
HaasGaming thx dude

Can you play Skirmish offline?
Did they remove the option to rotate the camera?
Yeh I was thinking this! Holding Alt does nothing, either it has changed or they removed it...
holy crap they need to nerf those whirlwinds and laser things you can get for elite points absolutely broken to the point it just ruins it
its too bad it degrades to massive spam often. seems it could be deeper without the blob
armor piercing doesn't pierce normal armor? wtf
Go green and always win
I make both my Eldar Craftworld and Space Marine chapters fully green in a foolish attempt to channel the Dakka.
People that say blobbing works in DoW3 are hilariously wrong. Yea cover mechanics are gone, but there are WAY more sources of AoE that kill units very fast if you don't micro
Looking at blob of predator tank in late game... ..
Yeah right .
Damn right, I just blobbed all my ranged space marines, about 5 6 units of devastators and tacticals, as I attacked and the guy had 3 banshee units that used their charge ability at the same time...all my units+my librarian died completely in 1 second.
Derrick Hayden with two or three assult marines and or tacticals with flamer and this wouldn't have happend
Are u forced to play multiplayer to lvl up elites?
garregalen83 atm there is only mp available in the open beta.
Niklas Wörrle I know, wondering how it's going to be when it's released ofcourse.
garregalen83 ah alright. yh that is actually a good question. depends on how the campaign is put together ig
You are Charlie not Haas .😎😎
I had to put this video on 0.5 speed because its too much info at once
Is this on PS4
i didnt understand the "important part" at 4:25 (sorry ima frenchy too hard for me) someone friendly can explain me ?
Everytime you build a generator (requisition or power), which is of course required to get resources, the cost of the next generator is going to increase. It's definitive ? I mean if (in your case) the generator one is destroy, the generator 2 will still cost 35 requisition and not pass at 30 ?
Yes, the moment you build a generator the following ones will cost more, regardless of whether it stays or is destroyed.
Wow okay it's great error cost u money, love that. Thanks for your time ur awesome !
40 k and starcrafts are so similar...
Basic guide for DOW III = pick SM wait for your orbital Beam = win game :D
If only you could stand in the targeting dish and shut it down within a few seconds :p
wtf you can add buildings too.. then why didnt this work for me :S I was constantly thinking like... this is so annoying.. having to scroll back or click the minimap and then manually click the buildings it was really taking away a lot of my micro time.
Robin nolastname you can also press the symbols in a horizontal row in the bottom left corner above your unit abilities ;)
Robin nolastname i think there is a little number above the building
Yeah I checked didn't see it. But its ok I'm not going to buy it. Not paying 60euro to get kicked out of games without a way to reconnect.
well i guess there was a reason for you getting kicked out of the game. like failed internet connection or sth. and the game is not fully released, so don´t pick on sth you don´t know if it will be in the full version ;)
all you need to know is the biggest blob wins. that is the only mechanic in the game whiever has the biggest army wins
Magni56 nope those aoe effects become pretty useless after the 2nd or 3rd escalation phase.

You have the most dutch accent possible, great guide tho!
You've clearly never listened to Nobbel :p
Oh god je hebt gelijkt
does anyone even play it? looked at steam.. very negative reviews.. even the developer has lowered the game price 75% , it's 9.99€ atm on steam
did dow2 veterans tilt out or smt?
since i havent played these.. i just compared graphics , dow seems more polished and more pleasing for the eye (for me atleast..)
i got interested slightly in this since i liked coh1-2 , seemed that they use same engine/mechanics
Lot of veterans did indeed tilt, but unfortunately they really messed up the eventual launch and never fixed any of the glaring issues it had within time so the population died out entirely.
The number 1 thing to know.... Dawn of war 1 with its expansions is far far far superior to this game.
lol the uploader thinks there is strategy in this game. how cute
necroryda there is ;) I don't think you played the older dow games, did you?
Niklas Wörrle yes. this game has strategy for the first 5 minutes with hiding your assault marines in stealth cover. when yhat 5 minutes are up it basically ends up a battle of whi has the bigger blob.
