Road Runner I love seeing you so happy. Your tramily. Is a joy to watch. I’m loving watching all of you. You are so right though to limit your expectations, which in turn will limit your disappointments. We all have been hurt or disappointed in others at times, but those are life’s lessons that remind us rely on ourselves. You are an amazing person and I love it when I see others who value your friendship and companionship. Keep on keepin on RR, you are right where you belong with your new tramily.
Hiking has many life lessons, one of them is learning to let go.

This was one if my fav so far! Im hiking with you in spirit since day 1. I came accross your channel well after you began so i am behind, but unlike you, I can sometimes view a couple-3 days at a time depending on my work schedule. I love seeing the 0 day towns/spots, etc, what you eat, where you sleep, and what you do at each. I love meeting other hikers you meet along the way. I loved seeing your care package from someone. Thank you for taking the time to bring me along. Hoping to catch up soon!
I’m so glad you addressed the issue. Honesty and humbleness is the best recipe when you have followers that care and are invested in you and your channel. We are all interconnected as you have experienced with both tramilies and at the same time some of the reliance and survival is about you. Stay true and honest. It’s one of your best assets as a human being. Kudos in your progress 👏👏👏🥾🥾

I'm a huge proponent of learning. I've been an Instructor (of some sort) for most of my life. I always tell my students that you should strive to learn something new every day and that everyone no matter how old or how young, has something to teach you. And yes, hiking in snow is an entirely different animal than just hiking. Very demanding, but very rewarding as the same time. Great explanation about your hike and hiking partners. I like Chap, and I continue to follow his journey as well. That said, you for now have found the right Tramily to take you through the next part of your journey. So looking forward to following along. What a great resupply box to get. Score!!
4:40 Its good advice. It reminds me of the girl a couple of years ago who was hiking the CDT. She hooked up with a couple of guys and the three of them agreed to hike through the San Juan Mountains together. But she was already having a hard time keeping up with them, so she was always way behind them. One day while she was trying to catch up, the worst happened and she fell off the mountain and was badly injured. She had to wait by herself for search and rescue to find her. Then she started blasting the other two hikers on social media for leaving her behind. But what were they supposed to do? They probably didn’t even know there was a problem, until she didn’t arrive at camp. By that time she was already in the Emergency Room. You got to look out for yourself. 👍

I was hoping to see some images of the So. Fk. Kern River on the way into KMS, just to eyeball the amount of runoff re: the snow ahead. So far it seems like a low snow year in the So. Sierra, from peeks at other thru-hiker videos.

First ~ I’m crazy about you and a big fan. I’ve watched every video since the AT. Those of us watching both you and Chap may be confused. It appeared you left the tramily to hike alone. Then the guys went to LA, but you didn’t want to go. Then everyone was going to meet up with Fireball at Kennedy Meadows. She didn’t end up going to the wedding and is waiting for the guys. What did we miss? It feels like you left the tramily. I wouldn’t have asked except I’m confused after what you said in this video. I’m glad you are happy with the new tramily.
Hi there. I left the first tramily, intending only for a few days, to hike alone. I waited for them where I told them I would wait, and in the meantime they made other decisions without me. I never planned to hike the Sierra alone, so I did link up with my new tramily and I’m so lucky I found them.
@@hikingdancer I’m sorry this happened to you and hope it’s better ongoing.
I followed RR's trek with her initial trail partner/friend from their AT hike. She tried to keep a slower pace and "socialize more". Clearly (as 3 cameras showed) she was visibly not kosher with the slower pace. Mt Baden Powell really showed the differences in hiking style, a discussion ensued and RR decided to hike further to get a package in town. They all made the right decisions for themselves so everything worked out for the best!

I was really surprised in his behavior totally didn’t expect that from him. I have felt so bad for her but this new tramily she is truly shining and living her best life on the trail

I’ve used that brand of lip balm for years and I love it so much! I had tried several other brands of lip balm with spf and they all tasted terrible and didn’t work for me. I’ve been a loyal user of Jack Black for so long, I have many tubes all other the house and one permanently in my hiking bag. I hope you like them!

Just so you're not surprised by it, California's chaparral habitat does not end at Kennedy Meadows South. You'll be in an out of it throughout the Sierra Nevada and into the Cascade Range. It even extends into Oregon. Oh, and still not a desert. 😉

The wisdom from the AT is 100% right, the only person you can totally rely on is you. As Shakespeare said “To thine on self be true”. Or “it’s your thang, do what you gotta do”. Chap and you had no contract and you were not a couple of any kind so the obligation was “as long as we both feel like it”. Same with the current tramily. He lost the feeling somewhere along the way. Don’t be sad, be glad you had 425 miles of fun together! The desert does give you time to philosophize which isn’t a bad thing. Enjoy it while it lasts, if in the end it’s just you standing at the Northernmost point that’s 100% OK!
What a haul in that resupply box! Very thoughtful and complete! Loads of food and chocolate too! Only things they missed was sunscreen, new socks, female supplies, a new water filter and fuel canisters! I guess they ran out of room! lol. You have some amazing sponsors. Those are your third pair of shoes?

The GAS PRICE at Grumpy Bear is INSANE. 😱😱😱!
That's one of those places where you miscalculate/forget to top off at the busy junctions and will pay anything b/c the yellow "running out of gas" light is illuminated.
That's at the KM General Store, but yeah. Captive audience, in the middle of nowhere.
It's a long haul up a rough road to the KM General Store, but having gas at all makes the price worth it. That's probably the most expensive on the trail, but we'll see high prices in many of the trail crossings in small, hard to reach towns.

@@ianjamesevans The Price is a bit better in Oregon and Washington small towns, but that's only because we have lower gas taxes, the costs of shipping don't change.

I am glad you addressed your previous Tramily. I was shocked when it discovered the split and got the impression you were a little surprised as well. I made a comment on Lil Chaps video when he had not mentioned you, nothing negative but asked why he hadn't mentioned you and got my head bitten off by him about him giving up his job etc etc. I was shocked and so were other followers who shared my sentiments to his harsh reaction to my question. . Anyhow that is behind you now and you seem very comfortable with your new Tramily. Love following you on your journey and looking forward to your adventures in the Sierras.

Ah, I’m sorry you got your head bitten off. Everyone has their own perspective. I just read their response to you and I’ll tell you that I made the decision to hike by myself for a few days only. I communicated this to them and waited for them as promised. In the meantime they made decisions without me. I was very hurt by that, and yes decided to move on without discussing further. And yes I was cold, because that is my emotional response to being hurt. As the one commenter said “always two sides to a story”. Right she is 🤗

Lil Chap clearly had ulterior motives on RR. I believe he had an unreciprocated crush and was offended and used passive aggressiveness to get even. Haven't been able to watch any of his videos since.

Not a criticism, but just an observation…It was apparent to me you seemed really hurt by the separation with Lil’ Chap. You appeared to almost over compensate your affections about the new Tramily in the last several vids. Hope it’s just pure joy and not setting yourself up for further disappointment down the line from the “rebound”. Also, hope you and Lil’ Chap can mend what appears, from your comments, a somewhat fractured relationship. I truly enjoy both of your vids and want nothing more that a fulfilling thru-hike and experience for you both! 👍🏻😘
