Would you recommend the Tranx 150 or 200 for inshore fishing southeast Florida? Mostly for snook, as the reds and trout are farther north or on the gulf side. I would be casting the same lures as you. 1/8 oz weighted hook with zman swimbaits etc. do you think a 200 could cast lighter lures? If matched with the right rod. Or should I go with the 150. Thanks and great video!

I think you’ll be fine with the 150. Now if you hook into a monster snook , tighten down on the drag and chase ‘em down with the trolling motor. But I caught a 20+ inch cobia and the 150 got it in no problem if that tells you anything. I’d go 200 if you were targeting bull reds or specifically targeting giant snook. But generally I think the Tranx 150 will work for you. Tight lines!

How you liking this reel? I'm going to pick up a few here shortly. Still feels smooth without the micromodule gears? Have you used it with a lighter setup (rods, lines, etc)? Curious how it handles lighter baits

Ever since I bought this reel, I have used it more than any other reel in my arsenal. I also own a Shimano Chronarch 150XG and I favor the Tranx 150 over it. In my opinion the Tranx is a better reel than the Chronarch 150! The Tranx is incredibly smooth, solid but yet light weight, compact and casts very well. I have felt the smoothness of micromodule gears when I used to own the Curado K and this Tranx 150 feels just as smooth if not the same. I don't know how Shimano does it ! The rod, line, and bait that is in the video is what I have on there now. With 20lb test braid (6lb mono equivalent), 1/8 oz weighted belly hook, and Zman soft plastic, I am able to bomb casts with ease. There are 6 internal brakes and I turn 2 on. I put the SVS infinity dial on 2, and my tension knob to where my bait will do a slow fall when you tap the rod while the reel is in free spool. I am looking at another Tranx 150 here soon myself haha maybe a Christmas gift to me! But to answer your question about throwing lighter baits, a 1/8 oz jig head or weighted hook with any plastic on it you'll be fine. Any lighter, I am not sure because I have not had the need to go lighter...yet. Good luck shopping and fishing. Keep me posted!
