Welcome to 5POA Evolution, where I chronicle the history of one character in action figure form! This sub-series of videos is dedicated to the memory of the late, great Glenn Webb, who we tragically lost in 2016. He was my introduction to the world of action figure reviews, and it was his content that inspired me to want to make videos too!
February is the month of love, so in this installment I am spotlighting a female character I adore --- WONDER WOMAN!
This character's action figure journey begins with Mego, but includes Kenner, Mattel, DC Direct, DC Collectibles, Spin Master, McFarlane Toys, and more!
For the purposes of this video, however, I will only be looking at action figures and not dolls or other items targeted only at girls. I am also not including items for little little kids like Imaginex or things like that. And of course, I don't have every Wonder Woman figure ever made, but we will cover just enough of the highlights so that YOU can witness ACTION FIGURE EVOLUTION!

Rip Glenn Webb a real one. Glad to see a nice tribute
He was the best. There will never be another one like him..
R.I.P. to Glenn Webb. He was a kind hearted man with a great sense of humour.
Ah man it feels like yesterday when Glenn Webb passed away. He was a great inspiration for me getting into collecting and especially customizing figures. This was a great tribute and I’m glad to see his influence is recognized
Thank you. Yeah, he was the best. True story, I had been thinking about doing this channel since early 2016, and it was actually the night of my birthday party after everybody went home and I was powering down on the couch watching TV that I learned he died. It was a difficult birthday for me in general, lots of birthday blues and mortality issues and general gobbledygook such as that, so I did really take his death as a blow. Even then, I still didn't start the channel until 2021.
I've been thinking for a while that your format would be perfect for these kinds of videos. Can't think of a better channel to be a spiritual successor to what Glenn started.
Thank you so much, I really appreciate that!
Agree. Glenn would be proud 😊
Amazing video, love how comprehensive And deep it went. Glenn Webb would be proud, and you honor his legacy with this piece. For that I say cheers to you my goodman.
Thanks so much. If it weren't for Glenn Webb inspiring me, I'd have never started this UA-cam reviewer journey, so I deeply appreciate your kind words
@@5POAFigureReviews Glenn was a true OG. I've also been watching your channel for a while now and you've been really kicking butt. Keep up the great work!
goodness you should make more videos like this, glenn’s videos absolutely captured my attention due to the history between figures and how they evolved over time. great video man!
Thank you! I have at least five more planned for the rest of this year, as well as next year's Valentine's Day video. I do a female character every Valentine's Day
@@5POAFigureReviews cant wait to watch them! ^_^
We need a new classic 6in WW so bad 😭 The new one from McFarlane is really great but dammit I really wish that line was 6in scale instead of 7in
Awesome. I have some of these figures and it's so cool that you made a Wonder Woman action figure evolution
Thank you so much for this...WONDERFUL video!😀
You are very welcome!
5POA, you are my go-to reviewer right now. We can always count on you to put out a fun and informative and fair review
Thank you so much Winston! I truly appreciate that
That aunt joke at the end was hilarious! Great review!
Great video!
What a great retrospective! Very well put together and exceptionally well narrated. I jumped in with the DC Direct 1999 release, and I have (or have had) a surprising (to me) number of these figures. It was fun to relive all of the ups and downs over the years. Companies really seemed to struggle to put it all together with Wonder Woman. I’d say that the DC Universe Classics version was the one I was the happiest with overall, although I think the DC Direct Dotson Wonder Woman was the most visually appealing. I just got the McFarlane DC Multiverse classic Wonder Woman last month, and she’s my new favorite. As far as movie versions go, the S.H. Figuarts Wonder Woman 1984 is my go to, although I’m very happy with the various Mafex releases as well.
Absolutely love this video! Thanks brother!
You're so welcome!
Great video!
I do miss a look at the MEGO doll types and the Pocket Heroes, but such a wonderful retrospective.
Thanks Pete! As a precursor to Super Powers, I really wanted a Pocket Heroes WW for this video, but she is sadly just too expensive.
great video. i always wondered what was up with all the modern dc lines
Happy to help!
I really enjoyed the evolution video. Awesome! As I look at my collection I’m so happy with the progress and for the future…. I’m sure we will get more Wonderful Diana figures.
Thank you! I'm excited for the future as well. And there are a lot of WONDERful options. Golden Age, Rebirth, Amazo Virus, Agent Prince, #600, and New 52 just to name a few.
@@5POAFigureReviews Rebirth, Future State WW Yara Flor and Nubia would be my top future wants and needs. The McFarlane treatment would be just the most.
I agree the new Classic Edition from McFarlane is the new gold standard. I like this format to see the evolution of an action figure. I feel motivated to do something similar for MegaMan if I had enough figures.
That would be cool! I enjoyed the games as a kid, but I have not really kept up with the toys. I recall a Toy Biz one, a 3.75 Hasbro one, the Jada one, and that upcoming import, but beyond that I have no idea what's out there
Omg I had the old 80s super powers supes and Wonder woman. I miss them even though I have the mcfarlane and mattel ones. Awesome video
Thank you!
I have a love hate relationship with the Mattel series, idk I just prefer better articulated figures ya know? Great video by the way man
Thanks for identifying the Mattel version of New 52. I was lucky to find one at a collector shop but didn’t know the brand until now. 👍
You're very welcome! Happy to help
6:36 *WOW😍!*
One of the best.
Great video! It’s cool seeing how far action figures have come. What is your favorite action figure ever? And also, will you be reviewing Animal Man?
Thanks so much! I don't have any plans to review Animal Man, sorry. Not really a character I am familiar with. Hard to pick a favorite, but if my house was on fire and I could only save one, it would be my broken Stealth Iron Man. I could rebuild and replace everything with enough time and money, but not him. Funny, a broken toy is the one I'd save.
@@5POAFigureReviews ah! I actually wrote something that I thought was absolutely hilarious: I have a theory! What if stealth iron man is the one behind all of this? What if he’s holding Jason hostage? What if he’s mad because Jason broke his legs? What if he’s forcing Jason to show him in his videos? Oh no! We must send help!
@@nocturnaldreamzz oh no...you've said too much *looks around* lol
Love the mcfarlane
Great video! I heard that animated Justice league figures were actually sculpted by DC direct for Mattel.
Given how they outsourced the DCUC figures to Four Horsemen so that tracks
I so glad I got the chase McFarlane WW off my Gamestop pre-order. I don't know who packed my figures but I tip my hat to you. 😁 I really the next WW McFarlane fig is based on Rebirth. It's my favorite look on Diana. Although I hope she scales better with my other DC McFarlane collection so I don't have to customize her to fit in.
That's great! Glad you got the one you were hoping for!
Masgusto ko nun wonder woman action figure sa Shazam! 2 ❤❤
It is very good!
16:12 that wonder woman is my stand in for the time being until I get it customized.
It's a good one;
You missed the Linda Carter Wonder Woman,
Still great video thanks
I picked up the Justice League Animated Series Wonder Woman and there's a mod you can do to give her articulation in the head. The hair is rubbery, so you can just take a blade to where her hair is connected to her back and cut it, thereby making it possible to add extra articulation to her head.
Clever! Thanks for the tip
18:06 DC Essentials because they essentially came with nothing 😂.
This is very informative and I appreciate all the comparison. 👌
Glad you enjoyed it!
You should look for the Fondjoy brand of WW. You'll like it.
I looked it up and yeah it's pretty good looking, I'm especially interested in their Ben Affleck Batman!
The symbol on the dceu ww shield is a bird. It looks like an eagle but I could be wrong
I can see it
I actually use the rebirth icons WW cause it scales with the other figures I use in my JL
Nice! It's a good one
4:48 I’d have said “keep an eye out for Selener”
Ha! That would have been good
There's a Justice League War animated version that I was hoping to see.
Sorry about that!
I wish I got to the dc essentials wonder woman
Any chance Mafex will release their classic version of Wonder Woman?
I sure hope so!
The DCEU 6" were the best. I have several different one's for my mini-DC Multiverse. I have built 6 different DC Earth's, 5 of them have Wonder Woman.
Earth 1: Justice League, Main DC
Earth 2: Justice Society
Earth 3: Crime Syndicate
Earth 6: Kingdom Come style
Earth 23: Expanded Watchmen style
Earth 35: Created Equal, All Female style
Some, like Earth 2 have 2 Wonder Woman, I bought an Original Wonder Woman in a Justice Society Wave, only to find she had no leg articulation and was just in a running pose. Fortunately, they later had a Golden Age Wonder Woman in her second costume. For an Earth that's not supposed to have a Wonder Woman, there are 2 Wonder Woman on my Earth Watchmen as well. One that is more modern but that has a skirt and the Red Sun Wonder Woman that I can use as an evil Dobbleganger. Rather than the Kingdom Come Wonder Woman, I use a Futuristic styled Wonder Woman in pants. Regular Wonder Woman is in my Justice League Earth. Wonder Woman from the Movie is on my All Female Earth. That one is based on the Graphic Novel where all the Men on Earth die, and Superman has to leave Earth or no males can be born. This was actually an accidental creation. I used to own the local Comic Book Store when the Media Chain Hastings went out of business. They called me up and offered me a 1 hour headstart on their 'Going Out of Business Sale'. I get down there and they offer me a further discount if I will take all the DC Female Figures as they don't believe those will sell. So I ended up with 40 Female DC Figures for only a few dollars each. I had versions of many of them, but not these particular variants, New 52, Arrowverse, Elseworlds, Wonder Woman movie and others such as Mary Marvel in White, Darkstar Donna Troy, etc.
Oh man, I haven't thought about Hastings in forever! Thanks for sharing. Sounds like a great collection you have!
Well, a little bit of bragging. I started Collecting April 2nd, 1994, so I'm getting close to 30 years. I have built 10 different Earth's, I have over 5,500 total Figures. Sounds like a lot, but there are You Tubers out there with 10,000, one guy even has 20,000! And that's just ones I have seen. I have been doing a lot of Army Building the last year or so. DC was always Terrible about giving us enough Villains! For example, on Earth 1 I have a 45 member Legion of Doom. Sounds like a lot. Until you consider that I have a 35 member (with Green Lanterns) Justice League with 8 Reserves, a 20 member Green Lantern Corps (with all Green Lanterns), a 17 member Titans, 8 member Outsiders, and 3 each Doom Patrol and Metal Men. My Darkseid army has 1 Parademon, recently reinforced with 4 Horde Troopers from He-Man. Earth 2 is even more lopsided, I have a 31 member Justice Society but only a 20 member Injustice Society, several of which aren't even Earth 2 characters. That is slightly Fudged as Uncle Sam, Phantom Lady, and the Ray were only All Star Squadron and not actually Society members.
Lynda Carter version is missing. I thought for sure she would be included.
Sadly I wasn't able to find one within my budget, but I hindsight I should have at least included a graphic and a mention
honestly, if i had to spend 100+ usd on a 6 inch itd be the amazing yamaguchi figure. The amount of accessories and articulation makessl it my 1st choice just to wait and save up
They are pretty good, but if it's your first Yamaguchi, keep in mind that their articulation is a little different feeling and takes getting used to! But once you get over the change, they are so fun!
@alvarogarcia4735 it'd not be my first, but aside from segmented capes, the styling of those figures are why I like them
You know, I am embarrassed to admit but I completely forgot about the amazing yamaguchi! Looking it up it's a gorgeous figure. I've never gotten one, although I do know that it can be a rewarding challenge to pose them, but if I was going to I might have to pick her up and expand on the collection
@@5POAFigureReviews please grace us with an amazing review if you do get it
@5POAFigureReviews Oh they are so worth it! I bought the original Amazing Yamaguchi Spider-Man when he came out and it was worth it. At first I wasn't super convinced, as this was earlier in my collection, but after playing with him and taking advantage of the crazy joints and how it allows one to do super dynamic poses, even if they aren't "realistic" it's so fun and rewarding! I'm actually picking up the Iron Spider soon as it looks so nice, and I wasn't that impressed with the Marvel Legends version. But those revoltech legs also work with the Legends too!
First!
Thank you, algorithm.
I hope mafex gives us a classic wonder-woman
I'm hoping for that as well, but if it happens I'm kind of curious to see how they'll do it. So far, I've noticed that all of their DC offerings seem to be tied to specific storylines with multiple figures to pull from. Hush, Knightfall, Death and Return of Superman, etc. My dream is that they would do a line based on the Ed Benes run on Justice League of America, as I really loved his take on everyone, but as for what big DC story they could pull from that would give us a classic WW and maybe more, I'm not sure. Crisis on Infinite Earths would be a great choice! That way we can also get classic Barry and Hal.
@@5POAFigureReviews Well I'm kinda hoping for a JLA / JSA virtue and Vice line, but I'm not sure how popular that comic is. I wouldn't mind if they did two-pack sets like wonder woman vs cheetah though only time will tell.
I miss Glenn Webb
Me too
Check out DC Infinite heroes 4" wonder women and DC collectibles 3.75" Injustice version.
In general I'm not a huge fan of either 3.75 in figures or the Injustice designs, but that is actually a pretty nice looking little figure. Same with infinite heroes.
Are you getting the Mafex Stealth Iron Man?
Of course! I am slowing acquiring all Stealths Iron Man.
@@5POAFigureReviews Yay!
Endless Winter WW is actually Hippolyta!
Really? I did not know that. Is it on the trading card?
@@5POAFigureReviews Unfortunately the card doesn't make that distinction. I read Endless Winter back when ot came out 3 years ago. That's how I know it's not Diana.
I didn't know there's Jennifer Tilly's WW...😁
Now I wanna see Jennifer Tilly done up as Wonder Woman lol
@@5POAFigureReviewsWe all would 😉
we need an actuate Lynda cater and George reeves. Adam west we have.
I wouldn't mind a George Reeves and a Lynda scaled with the 1966 series, but I'd love to have all of them as DC Multiverse.
While I love this video, I hate to say it but you're missing the DC Direct Animated Justice League WonderWoman 2.0 [built in the BTAS ascetic]
I'm glad you enjoyed it! Yeah, I definitely could have mentioned that one. And for that matter, the DC Animated movie universe version.
No love for the DC Multiverse Signature Collection Lynda Carter Wonder Woman?
How can you not love Lynda? I just couldn't afford her lol
You missed the wonder woman lynda carter action figure.
Yeah, in hindsight even if I couldn't afford her I should have at least included a graphic and mentioned her. Good note.
I cannot wait until we move away from the Gag Gadot look. Was the giveaway winner announced and I missed it?
Yes, I posted the winner in the community tab on Valentine's day. I'm so sorry to say that you were not the one. But I also did announce that my next giveaway is going to be coming very soon, and that I already have the figure for it. So stay tuned for that!
It looks like your dcuc’s belt is shoved up into the waist swivel.
Good observation! It is unfortunately. Got it loose. Maybe one day I will replace her.
first. hahaha
Bro...... Waiting for Godot ???? Not many of your American audience will get that reference...... Lol
Probably not lol but I do enjoy dropping in little references now and then that only a few people will appreciate.
DC is just not great at comic figures and wonder woman is a prime example of that. Marvel Legends are not the best but they make some fantastic figures. That power princess mold should be given to DC just to make a proper Diana.
