I want to say a few things about this clip and the history of the stories. I agreed with Shay Shay’s response to Skip when he disrespected him however I don’t really care that he did. That’s because Sharpe was in the same seat when Skip was saying “West-brick” over and over again and Sharpe laughed or agreed he even said Russ shouldn’t be upset because he was putting up bricks. So that same serpent bit him so why should he get pity?
Now when a person goes “I’ve been watching/covering longer than you’ve been playing that is actually false and theoretically stupid.
A 50 year old reporter covered the game since let’s say 25. A 30 year old player has watched the game as a child, played the game as a child, saw film as a child, practiced as a child and then became an adult doing the same thing just at a higher level. A 10 year professional has watched more game film and studied more coaches/players/teams than any reporter has in their entire career. They also compete while actually playing the game which they spectate. The same professional players watch film on older players all while studying film reporters do not have access to and they are still gaining more knowledge. By 30 years old this professional has been watching and studying and playing the game intensely since probably 8. Those 22 years has quadrupled what the 50 year old reporter did and by far.
When they try to compare themselves to a coach “well that coach never played the game” that coach coaches 7 days a week starting at 5am and always watches film and has been doing that miserable shh for decades and even a young coach studies more in 10 years than a reporter does in their career.
