You need to go back and try other menu items. One of my favorites is a Jibarito sandwich, Verdura w/ Bacalao , Bistec Encebollado with Arroz con Gandules, Arroz blanco con Habichuelas y Chuletas fritas.
Puerto Rican and Dominican food are simply amazing. When I go back home to the Bronx I load up on it. As a Jamaican I can appreciate it because it has the same ingredients as our food without the heat. Don't get me wrong, I love spicy food but I appreciate being able to have a similar option.

You should try Senior Big Eds in Cypress. They have the best Puerto Rican food and their Mofongo is the best! If you want a true P.R. experience you need to try the Pasteles, pernil, arros con habichuela and a little Coquito to wash it down. Their pork Mofongo is amazing! I'm Puerto Rican and I grew up eating this food. Christmas is not Christmas without Pasteles, Pernil.....and home made Coquito! Try Señior Big Ed's in Cypress. If I don't have time to cook, it's my go-to.

Food I grew up with back in NY, sad the west is deprived of it. Also, you said puertorican 90 times. Mofongos is a must, we always stop when we are on LA. Also, arroz con gandules def not mexican rice, very different ways if making it and flavor, is like saying Pho and Ramen are similar just bc they are both broths

If you find a ctown near you can taste Puerto Rican food, dominican food is simmilar to ours also, so If Im not in my house and I cant find my cravings I looks for a Dominican restaurant.. Puerto Ricans love the diverse latino culture in general just dont argue with us we always right baahaha .
I am Puerto Rican but I noticed that the cook looks more Mexican than Puerto Rican. Not judging but sometimes the authenticity of the flavours when another foreigner cooks, it is not the same taste. I had that experience before in Seattle, Wa. It was not the same and then the alcapurrias looks overcooked on the outside. But glad you had a chance to experience our food, my husband is Taiwanese American and he loves our food.
Never tried Puerto Rican food before, I definitely need to visit a restaurant serving Puerto Rican food this summer. I was in little Havana Cuba neighborhood in Miami but I didn't see any Puerto Rican restaurant.. that rice 🌾 looks well cooked and delicious.

This made me drool! So sad theres only one place there in la but thank god im in the philly area and can get this heaven anytime i need to connect w my roots and dont feel like making it myself. The chicken is the way to go but my preference is shrimp on my mofongo. Now one thing its fine to use bagged pork rinds but the best stuff is the chicherones with the meat on them. Its like deep fried crunchy bacon and goes best in mofongo.

This always puts me off when people try puertorrican food. They go for the rice... and the rice alone. That rice is meant to be eaten with the meat. You won't get the full puertorrican experience if you eat it on its own. Yeah, it's good, but then it's great if you get a spoonful of rice with your meat. Sighs.

You forgot to try the roasted pork shoulder with the rice n gandules that's what it's usually served with maybe one day you will try it with the Mojito sauce which is the garlic sauce that is put on just fried plantain it's very delicious in this plenty more different dishes that you have yet to try continue to give the food a chance so that you can get to know more about it mondongo is also very delicious bacalao salad is very delicious or stewed bacalao and yet still we have something called pasteles I could go on and on but I'll stop here you have a lot to try do some research plenty of different Puerto Rican dishes

Not supposed to eat alcaparros or rellenos de papa with that mayuketchup sauce. Cubans don’t make rellenos de papa either, they make croquetas that are totally different. And our arroz con gandules is nothing like yellow Mexican rice, they don’t use sofrito in their rice or achiote like we do in Puerto Rican cuisine. You should eat the food but get the chefs to give the info and history of the foods and teach you how to pronounce the foods correctly. Glad you enjoyed it . Our food is delicious !
I don't eat "arroz con gandules" without "habichuelas" red kidney beans, because the arroz is too dry for my taste. I just pour the beans with the liquid over the rice. My favorite puertorican plate is "pastelon de amarillo" with rice and beans on the side. It is smashed ripe plantains (plantains turned yellow) molded in a Pirex glass mold and filled with ground meat and cooked in the oven. Very very tasty. Nice video! Thanks 😊
Umm ... Pastelon (no “de amarillos” in the name) .. is NOT smashed up sweet plantains. It’s sliced sweet plantains fried and then layered with ground beef (some also add green beans) and then the top layer will have cheese on it.

TEMBLEQUE IS MORE like a coconut Pannacota. You tasted riped plantain, that is sweet, for the mofongo you use the green plantain. Alcapurrias dough is made of different carbs, I prefer the plantain dough and the Yautia, and my favorite filling is "jueyes" 🦀. The stuffed potato is so good but if you visit our island, you should try one made of breadfruit, "Pana". Puertorrican, Cuban and Dominican Republic food are very similar with subtle differences and sometimes they have different names for similar stuff. I love all of them but my ❤️ is in Puerto Rico. My favorite mofongo is with stewed octopus 🐙!!!!. Loved your video and I'm so happy you liked our food.
You described how to enjoyed the food, but how did you like the Malta? There is so much great food from Puerto Rico. The mofongo de mariscos(seafood) is the best!!! If you find surullitos, it's a corn meal fritter, you should taste it, it's my fave.
Alcapurrias are freaking delicious for sure!!.. Lol!!.. you got to try them with a could drink...Coca-Cola or Pepsi will do!.. We also have another banana fritter similar to the Alcapurrias called MACABEO.. which is so freaking delicious but you won't find that one nowhere in the states..

They do not use a seasoning as we do, we use sofrito it's a home made
Seasoning look it up see how it's made that's our main seasoning for everything in puerto rican food.
You forgot to try the roasted pork shoulder with the rice n gandules that's what it's usually served with maybe one day you will try it with the Mojito sauce which is the garlic sauce that is put on just fried plantain it's very delicious in this plenty more different dishes that you have yet to try continue to give the food a chance so that you can get to know more about it mondongo is also very delicious bacalao salad is very delicious or stewed bacalao and yet still we have something called pasteles I could go on and on but I'll stop here you have a lot to try do some research plenty of different Puerto Rican dishes

Not supposed to eat alcaparros or rellenos de papa with that mayuketchup sauce. Cubans don’t make rellenos de papa either, they make croquetas that are totally different. And our arroz con gandules is nothing like yellow Mexican rice, they don’t use sofrito in their rice or achiote like we do in Puerto Rican cuisine. You should eat the food but get the chefs to give the info and history of the foods and teach you how to pronounce the foods correctly. Glad you enjoyed it . Our food is delicious !

I don't eat "arroz con gandules" without "habichuelas" red kidney beans, because the arroz is too dry for my taste. I just pour the beans with the liquid over the rice. My favorite puertorican plate is "pastelon de amarillo" with rice and beans on the side. It is smashed ripe plantains (plantains turned yellow) molded in a Pirex glass mold and filled with ground meat and cooked in the oven. Very very tasty. Nice video! Thanks 😊

Umm ... Pastelon (no “de amarillos” in the name) .. is NOT smashed up sweet plantains. It’s sliced sweet plantains fried and then layered with ground beef (some also add green beans) and then the top layer will have cheese on it.

TEMBLEQUE IS MORE like a coconut Pannacota. You tasted riped plantain, that is sweet, for the mofongo you use the green plantain. Alcapurrias dough is made of different carbs, I prefer the plantain dough and the Yautia, and my favorite filling is "jueyes" 🦀. The stuffed potato is so good but if you visit our island, you should try one made of breadfruit, "Pana". Puertorrican, Cuban and Dominican Republic food are very similar with subtle differences and sometimes they have different names for similar stuff. I love all of them but my ❤️ is in Puerto Rico. My favorite mofongo is with stewed octopus 🐙!!!!. Loved your video and I'm so happy you liked our food.

You described how to enjoyed the food, but how did you like the Malta? There is so much great food from Puerto Rico. The mofongo de mariscos(seafood) is the best!!! If you find surullitos, it's a corn meal fritter, you should taste it, it's my fave.

Alcapurrias are freaking delicious for sure!!.. Lol!!.. you got to try them with a could drink...Coca-Cola or Pepsi will do!.. We also have another banana fritter similar to the Alcapurrias called MACABEO.. which is so freaking delicious but you won't find that one nowhere in the states..
