  • I was asked to play both my Hallmark 60 Custom and my Mosrite Mk 1 to show the tonal difference. The Hallmark has a Nokie Edwards Custom pickup set that Bob Shade made for me. The Mosrite was assembled by Dana Moseley back in 2012 for me and has her custom set of Dana-mo pickups. Both guitars have the same strings and both were played through the same effects pedal direct into the mixer so I could mix with the backing track. The track was created on my Yamaha MOXF6 keyboard using it's internal sequencer.

Where in the world did you find a left handed Mosrite looking anything I've been looking for about a year!!

yes, they are very rare. At one time, I had 3 lefty Mosrite's and this white Hallmark. 2 of the Mosrite guitars were custom ordered from Bakersfield Ca. The other was a Fillmore that I bought off a guy from Hawaii. They all played exactly the same. The pickups on the Fillmore was a tad thinner/brighter. I had Dana Moseley make me a set of Dyna-mo pickups, which she used in the custom made guitars. As for the Hallmark....there are only a small handful of lefties out there. I had 2 and sold one a few years ago. I recently sold 2 of my Mosrite lefties. They are fetching big dollars. If you find a Fillmore or a Made in California, you'll be paying anywhere from 2500-5000. They come up for sale maybe 1-2 times a year. One just sold on Reverb for 2500 a few months ago. Keep searching, you'll find one

    did you ever take lessons?

no, other than a few home lessons by a local guitar player that was teaching my older brother how to play. I'm an ear player. I can't read music. In the 80s I became a keyboardist in my bands. That's when I learned how to sequence my backing tracks. In 1987, I started my solo career and went back to 90% guitar playing and 10% keyboard player. Thanks for watching my videos

Hallmark made 2 runs of lefties (12 and 16). There are 28 of them floating around. Doubt they will ever make another. As for the Mosrite...Dana Moseley only made 5 lefties. At one time, I owned 3 of them. I eventually sold 2 and kept the Red one.

The Mosrite just has a more vintage sound while the Hallmark has a slighly fuller more modern sound. I'd take either of course :)
