CRUISE 5 FRANK WASHON - BANANA FARMER

Frank has turned a 3-hectare patch of land into a productive farm that produces about 250 tonnes of bananas a year. He is a big fan of the banana which he says is the second most popular fruit in the world and believes it has the potential to revolutionalise the economy of Malawi. Malawi imports more than 80% of bananas, thereby exporting jobs and losing a lot of forex.
Frank Washon believes in general Malawi has not invested enough in Horticulture, there is need to look into production of seed for different types of fruits to enhance production and stop some of them from total extinction.
