Is Thunderbird La Union Overrated?

Watch our family experience as we vacationed and booked accommodation at Thunderbird villa in Poro Point Free Zone in San Fernando La Union.
Even with a paid reservation- the check-in process still took around 20-30 minutes. Our one-night stay in a 2-bedroom villa cost 28K. We also needed to shell out an additional 4k for the deposit- which is refundable upon checkout, if you do not spend it. We will let you know if it is worth it.

Dubbed as the Santorini of Asia, Thunderbird Resorts & Casinos - Poro Point is a dream destination of its own. Here, you can have a feel of Greece's world-renowned resort town without needing to leave our local shores. Enjoy the most picturesque sunsets and marvel at their Santorini dome which is the resort's primary landmark.
After checking in, we had a quick look at our villa before hitting the pools.
There are 3 pools, two kiddie pools, and one infinity pool by the bar. With a scenic view overlooking the south china sea, the infinity pool is a beautiful place to watch the sunset and take great photos.
The resort has all the amenities you need. You can chill by the infinity pool and just inform the staff if you would like to order something to eat or request a shuttle to drive you to your villa.

I appreciate the honest review. Wont stay here. 28k for a night in this hotel? No thanks. You pay the same amount of money at Shangrila Boracay and Thunderbird is no where near Shang Boracay in terms of quality, view, room cleanliness and customer service.

Napaglumaan na din kasi tsaka iyong maintenance is really hard to do when there are a lot of villas, hotel rooms etc. For sure not all villas or rooms eh ganyan nakatiempo lang kayo ng hindi lang gaanong namaintain na Villa. Also, Thunderbird is the first ever Santorini Inspired Resort of the PH since 2006 kaya may kalumaan na din...Dyan din ginanap ang No Other Woman Movie noong 2011... Plus La Union has been hit by back to back Typhoons and Earthquakes. Pero atleast they have received a lot of awards as one of the best resorts in the Ph during their early years. Guess what? when we went to Boracay last year we stayed at La Carmella de Boracay. I have high expectations for the accomodation, but sad to say it was much worser, because the room is not really maintained well. There were a lot of rusts, cracks, the cr is dirty, yellowish tas sira pa iyong flush. Then the Tv is not cable, only 1 channel then the aircon is an old type. Napaglumaan narin talaga iyong room kahit nasa front beach pa... In the end of the day, I still learned to appreciate the things around me. Ang importante may matutuluyan, may mapagkakainan tsaka most importantly safe at buhay tayo at nag enjoy nman. Lesson learned, don't ever expect much if the resort is already old. One thing more, nagstay na din kami sa clark recently noong December lang para sunduin namin ate ko sa Airport... sa isa sa mga kilalang hotel sa clark malapit sa sentro, I'll be honest, ang daming sira, sira iyong shower, di gumagana hot and cold, tsaka sira iyong toilet nabara sa room nila papa na pinagstayan nila at medyo madumi pa nireklamo daw nila ng ilang beses sa hotel staff pero d daw sila pinapansin db mas grabe un!
Try next time Aureo Resort in San Fernando City, La Union kasi atleast mas bago sya mga 5 yrs old lang. They have big lazy pool river and a nice beach... Maganda iyong room at nakareceived sila lately ng award as one of the best resorts ng Pinas for 2022...

True.. looks overrated. Quiet plain landscape compared to really good hotels. White and blue hue lang nag stand out. Thanks sa review. Nakatulong sya since we are looking for a possible place to stay sa La Union. 🇸🇬🇵🇭

I am from la union myself... thunderbird is overrated, pang burgis lang and the food is not good. It should not be a tourist spot. It is only few or the owners who are gaining or being benefitted.
