Mech Warrior 5 looks pretty spectacular from first person. And I didn't mention it here, but there are more first person entries in my first Top 10 Mech Games: ua-cam.com/video/8BvEOcugxKo/v-deo.html
Yeah was gonna say MechWarrior Online and MechWarrior5: Mercenaries are first person primarily. Yes they both have a 3rd person camera also but not many people actually use that, at least not long term fans and most also find it harder to play like that as it is meant to be played in first person. Hell back when MWO had 3rd person added in a good chunk of players complained about it. So eventually they gimped 3rd person in MWO by removing your minimap, access to you full map, and putting a little camera drone with a blinking light floating high above you so if you try to use 3rd person to see over ridges, others can see that you are behind the ridge. For MW5:Mercs you can play in 3rd person by why buy a mech sim if you are not gonna play 1st person. I don't care what type of sim it is every sim should only be played first person, other wise its not a sim.
I just discovered Hardcore Mecha literally last week and I was so upset that this Gem, this beautiful gem slipped under my radar. It's so so good. I'm thoroughly enjoying it.
I was thinking this dude better put armored core 4 answer on😆. The online mech battles were insane truly took godly skills to be able to play those kind of games
Zone of the Enders the 2nd runner is easily in my top 5 games of all time. I just wish we got a 3rd game in the series. But unfortunately the hd collection didn't sell enough copies so Konami canceled it.
See this why I know you're a real one. Armored Core For Answer is one of the best in the series from just the anime fast paced combat and the music. I really hope they make another one soon.
No doubt. I was gonna have to post a nasty comment if he didn't have For Answer near the top. Check out the new screenshots of AC6 that were released during a customer survey From Software did in Japan. They aren't the best quality, but it doesn't matter because now we know they are ACTUALLY working on a new AC. I can't wait!!!!
Honestly I know it's a ps3 game and I'm disappointed cause I missed out on it lmfao I'm now wanna play armored core 4 just after seeing a few vids I've played ac6 but it doesn't hold a candle to armored core for I personally think that should be corrected with "A" a dlc or "B" the next game
Probably one of my favorite mech games ever was the Robotech game that came out for the 360 - I've rarely had as much fun playing any action game than I did with that one.
I relly recommend M.A.S.S. Builder from Vermillion Digital. Dope game, dope costumization and the best part is that it's an early access and it is bound to get even better
FINALLY. Seen the first one you made of the top 10. Finally an actually overview of truly good mech games that are absolute gems in their own rights. Thank you for covering them all thus far. Well done.
A game that didn't make the list but I enjoy as a long time Gundam fan is "MS SAGA : A new dawn" it's a classic JRPG with SD Gundams from the UC timeline. There's a customization element as well. For people who look for a Gundam RPG, I recommend it.
Armored Core will always be #1, I gave Mech Warrior 5 a few hours, but it just gets repetitive. I've also played ZOE for a couple hours and got bored, idk maybe I mainly got it for the nostalgia but I think I'm going to give it another go soon.

Even though it's a strategy game and not a sim or a pilot game, Battletech (2018) should 100% be on here. The game is in the same universe as Mechwarrior but you control a whole squad and it's really fun and addictive. The game really lets you micromanage the shit out of how you put your mechs together and how you approach missions.
I'd agree if it didn't have a myriad of technical issues. The game is a mess. The game play is great but the technical side the game could be infinitely better.
I think Starsiege is worth a honorable mention - old classic mech game, which actually had quite nice mech customization level for its time. But ya, it's very old game, I used to play it on my Windows95 :D
A very interesting take on "Best mech games"... I have played Mechwarrior V (Epic Games Store says "14d 8h"), I loved BATTLETECH, and I enjoyed Brigador. I would love MechWarrior Online but I prefer PvE games. I liked TitanFall's PvE mode. Your mech games appear to be dominated by a genre which is entirely different to what I am used to (or even aware of) and that is somewhat interesting. It seems to me that there is something like "Mecha Games" and "Mech games" and they seem to be very different. Anyway, thanks for the list! Nice to see that Mechwarrior at least made it to Volume 2.
If you ever mke part 3, you have to include Carnage Heart (I think EXA is the most recent one), it's a series of games where you program your own mechas and it's really complicated, but actually really great once you get the hang of it. Another great obscure mecha game is Fasilei, I think it came out on NeoGeo Pocket and nowhere else so no one heard of it, but it's a cool tactics game where you give your mechs commands in form of command chips (like "go forward", "turn 90 degrees", "shoot weapon 1", "evade") and you need to choose what commands to take on a mission. During your turn you choose several commands to run and then see them execute at the same time as enemy does, so you need to predict what are they going to do and prepare for that.
Metal Warriors is a great entry. The details are accurate. Looks like a japanese game, great presentation, and yet western made. A rare sight these days. Lost Planet games before LP 3 were grand. Play em all, but then know you have a bit of a visually sweet but game play slog coming with LP 3 which killed the series after it was wounded because a bunch of game journalists couldn't figure out how to play LP2.
I think I got stuck on something in the tutorial section. I did like it though but I couldn't remember what I was supposed to do plus I was very new to the game and everyone I played with seemed like experts so I never really had a good game where I contributed in a great way.

Totally agree about project nimbus , I love the game but really wish you could get a better look at the enemy AI as they are nothing more then a tiny x on the screen , on the original they had a button you could press to slow down the time and they removed it when they brought out the dlc mode which at least allowed you to get close then slow down time and at least see the enemy mecha , now they just removed one of the best features available , so I was kinda dissappointed about that , but I still love the game regardless 💯
anyone remember an oldschool ps1 or 2 mech game that involved going to space and fighting aliens and also turning into a mech motorcycle i really cant remember
Mechwarrior Online and MechWarrior5: Merc are both great fun. MWO being a F2P online team based pvp game can be a grind starting now but you can just through money at it and just buy chassis and variants but honestly if you just pay for premium time to make good use of the free time you get frequently through events you make good money and you learn and earn skill points for your mechs. And no its not pay to win. Events are frequent giving away free premium time and currency plus mechs and mech bays for completing the event. MW5:Mercs is newer than MWO and built on Unreal5 vs MWO's old Cryengine. MW5 is single player with online co-op. Campaign mode has a bit of a story in it that you come back to every now and then as you increase the reputation of your mercenary unit. There is a bunch of mini stories across the map that are a few missions long and stay within one conflict zone. There is also Career Mode which is functionally Campaign Mode but without the main story to give you a reason to start a merc company other than "big stompy robot go boom hahaha". The second DLC does add in another story line following a major event from the Battletech/Mechwarrior lore. The Co-op part of the game is just friends joining your game and literally taking over for an AI member of your lance. So if your friend(s) suck they will cost you a lot of money. My main gripe with the co-op is that as the guest player you get nothing out of it. Not even the pay check the AI pilot your host friend is paying for that you replace, grant it that is not much to begin with. I would like to see the guest player earn something like an 10% of the total C-bill pay out as extra mission pay that goes to each of the guest pilots. Or as I said before at the very least the monthly pay check of the AI they replace. That way at least guest players can bring back a few hundred thousand for every couple hours of playing in a friends game. Then when they load one of their saves they can choose to transfer the money into that saves bank account.
I wish Power Rangers had a game that focuses on the Megazords. Imagine fighting several kaijus and having to use the power-up zords, or merging with another Megazord.
A lot of Fun games here. I have mixed feelings about Mechwarrior V because I'm a longtime fan of the Battletech franchise as a whole and I don't understand why the recent digital games regressed the timeline. Basically a lot of technology and technological knowledge was lost to most of humanity following a series of devastating wars but during the period of time between Mechwarrior I set in the mid to late 3020s and Mechwarrior II set in the mid to late 3050s much of that technology was recovered, but for some reason Mechwarrior V starts in 3015 and ends in 3049 meaning not only are none of my favorite Mechs per weight class in service but the weapons needed to modify an existing design to match one of them are rare at best.
Ah it's been so long since I could play zoe2. I loved it's multiplayer 1v1 vs mode. Some of the titles here I didn't know about, some of them I did and thanks to your description of them, I have a better rundown of what they are like. I feel I should mention for any in the comments who are unaware, Gundam breaker 3 is fully multiplayer/co-op possible from start to finish with up to 4 players In a room system. No pvp however which is a little sad but I get why they didn't do it, some functions can make your build near unbeatable because of being legit broken in the game. (Looking at you stun funnels.)
Idk if anyone knows or have played this game called Super Mecha Champions. It could have had potential if the devs advertise this game. Still if anyone wants mech with anime theme battle royale style then you should check it out. It's available on steam and mobile
Wow, I remember you once asked us in community tab about "what's your favorite mech games" a long time ago. Didn't expect you make video about it tbh. And I answered Last Raven back then, time flies huh? But since this is new, guess my answer should new too. So Front Mission 5 it is, a bit sad I don't fully grasp the story (it was Japan only) but I think there's English Patch available. And with Aethersx2 coming out, guess which game I'm trying first?
I did! I ended up making two haha. Glad you answered back then and have been able to see this one. Front Mission's really need to be localized more often, they have these epic stories, but you can't enjoy them fully unless you speak Japanese.
@@Godzillarex yeah sadly FM isn't the only victim of lacks of localization. Come to think about it, mech is probably the 2nd most (after visual novels) left out genre in terms of localization. And there's plethora of them worthy to be played, just sitting in the corner covered in digital dust. Oh right, I forgot to mention Steambot Chronicles. Why? Everyone that loves mech and JRPG (kinda?) should play that game at least once.
@@Godzillarex Wow another year has passed. For sure man, always up for another mech video and an update, currently on roll with oldies like ZoE 2 and replay Steambot Chronicles again. God I love Steambot, still pains me we'll never get the sequel...
FRONT MISSION 3 (PSONE) and STEEL BATALLION (XBOX) deserved to have been on this list. Front Mission 3 is a masterpiece of a game - from the characters, gameplay mechanics, story, graphics, music etc. etc., it's a MUST play for any mech and SRPG fan. Thankfully, it is being remade for the Nintendo Switch and coming with both Front Mission 1 & 2. STEEL BATALLION deserves a place on this list as well simply for it's outrageously AWESOME controller. If ANY game would make a player feel like they are piloting a real mech, this one would be it. That controller is nothing short of a work of art. To anyone doubting that? Simply look up videos on STEEL BATALLION and it's 2 joystick, tons of lights and switches controller...
@@Godzillarex Regarding FM3, I meant not as an "honorable mention" but as a part of the top 10 list. I got caught up in typing my comment, I forgot to specify that detail. As for SB, it was a shame it only came out on XBOX, it was very expensive and the sequel was very poorly handled...
So far my favorite would be Daemon x Machina cool fights and characters you can be friends with if they were real. That's my kind of game plus with the character customization
You Really should checkout the late 90's PC Game Shogo: Mobile Armor Division (昇剛: モバイルアーマーディビジョン, Shōgō: Mobairu āmā dibijon). Tonea of mechs, sadly no customization. And a fairly straightforward mecha anime inspired story line. But with it's FFP we're you get out of the cockpit of the mechs & go inside space colonies, space stations, battleships, & buildings planet side. To mount up into various mechs along the way to pilot. Makes this game way ahead of its time with all its polygons. If you're gonna put a side scroll from the same decade that you can get out of the mech & do stuff, then you need to include this game Shogo on a list. As it was Gundam, Titan Fall, Mechwarrior & every FFP game all rolled into one wonderfully fun mecha anime cliche of a game!
He will most likely get a Fight Scene Breakdown! The thing about getting a Fighting Styles episode is that the character's name needs to have high "searchability," or in other words, people type his or her name very often. And although Extraction is an awesome Netflix movie, nobody learned the protagonists name. So spending all that time on a Fighting Styles episode just to get a couple thousand views is not worth it.
@@Godzillarex wow now that I think about it, it took me three times watching the movie to remember the guy’s name. The Indian brat is another story tho.
Zone Of The Enders......they will never make games like that ever again..... not in that caliber. What the hell did we go wrong.... Gaming industry has changed so much.
why dont they make a proper mech games i wonder. Make one that is actually a gunpla figurine, players have to built them and do mission. That will be hugely popular
am trying to find a game that is essentially a hybrid of mechwarrior and steel battalion, lest i have to hunt a company who'll take a proposal. also mech5 mercs is so much fun, and the sounds, mmmm the AC20's
So you want a highly technical mech sim kind of game. I mean aside from those two series you mentioned, I can't think of another that takes the customization or piloting to that degree.
Yeah mechwarrior 2-4are really hard to run on modern systems which is a shame because it puts a lit of other mech games to shame. I feel that's why front mission evolved was such a let down to me. Although mechwarrior games tend to be more a mech sim than shooter. Really those games used every button on the keyboard almost 3x over. Kind of miss my ammo dump. Hell I even miss worrying about my taxes in mech warrior 2 mercenaries.
Feel like the world will end before we get a high quality Gundam or mech game in general with a cockpit view.

I loved Front Mission
Check out Volume 3 for the remake! ua-cam.com/video/Rb_c2RlQ_6U/v-deo.html
In gundam breakers, always make sure to paint your mobile suit red to give it 3x the speed!
Very cool! I did not know that
anyone remember an oldschool ps1 or 2 mech game that involved going to space and fighting aliens and also turning into a mech motorcycle i really cant remember
I'm glad you really enjoyed ZoE 2 this time around! Another great list! Now just keep making them until Armored Core 6 comes out :D
Thanks! Can you imagine? A new Armored Core?! 🤯 haha
WELL DO I HAVE NEWS FOR YOU!
AND IT'S RIGHT HERE ON VOLUME 3! WOO! ua-cam.com/video/Rb_c2RlQ_6U/v-deo.html
SD Gundam online will always be number 1 on my list.
This is a better list thumbs up
And here's Volume 3 with even more Mech games! ua-cam.com/video/Rb_c2RlQ_6U/v-deo.html
Ah my 2nd fav mech game front mission 3
ZOE 2 , still my all time favorite game.
Try MASS Builder. Customization is out of this world
HardCore Mecha is absolutely amazing
I thought it was a lot of fun too. I was very disappointed that the controller refused to work on the PC version though.
you ought to make a third one and feature cyberbots fullmetal madness its an awesome game :3
Here's the third one! ua-cam.com/video/Rb_c2RlQ_6U/v-deo.html
Metal Rage would be a good one to be on this list, sadly it is run online only and servers are down now i think.
I wish Power Rangers had a game that focuses on the Megazords. Imagine fighting several kaijus and having to use the power-up zords, or merging with another Megazord.
Check out Volume 3 for that very game that you're describing! ua-cam.com/video/Rb_c2RlQ_6U/v-deo.html
Look at that yellow chick in override2, darm😍
Frontmission 3 ♥️
I hope we ever get to see a proper new turn based FM…
There's the remakes! Here you can see them: ua-cam.com/video/Rb_c2RlQ_6U/v-deo.html
@@Godzillarex awesome! Just like you, I’m hoping for a #3 remake.
Glad you liked the video! Be sure to check out Volume 1 if you haven't: ua-cam.com/video/8BvEOcugxKo/v-deo.html
@Godzillarex I forgot to mention Rhoga Armor Force is also known as Wolf Fang. It's a Data East title.
And since you enjoyed these two, here's Volume 3! ua-cam.com/video/Rb_c2RlQ_6U/v-deo.html
Front Mission 3 was on this list and I did t have an Xbox so I didn't get a chance to play Steel Battalion
Think of HM as #11 on the list. And true, it looked cool.
Forgot the thumb stick on the left joystick
Check out Volume 3 for Steel Battalion! ua-cam.com/video/Rb_c2RlQ_6U/v-deo.html
There really isn't anything like Zone of the Enders 2 in the market. Don't think there ever will be, either.
So far my favorite would be Daemon x Machina cool fights and characters you can be friends with if they were real. That's my kind of game plus with the character customization
Hope you saw Volume 1!
@@Godzillarex will check it out. To see if it has what am looking for
And Volume 3 is now available! ua-cam.com/video/Rb_c2RlQ_6U/v-deo.html
Armore Core 6,Number 1. No Surprise there!
Check out Volume 3! ua-cam.com/video/Rb_c2RlQ_6U/v-deo.htmlsi=D4n1yxkoOs3f8g_y
Armored Core 4 Answer is the best AGREE !!!
It sounds awesome, but is there any way to play it though?
I played for answer, best mech game I ever played 😂, I haven't played many of them...
for answer was great. and chomehounds.
Where is Robot Alchemic Drive? An extremely underrated game
It's right here on Volume 3! ua-cam.com/video/Rb_c2RlQ_6U/v-deo.html
Hey have you thought about doing a “how many fighting styles” from Tyler Rake from Extraction?
He will most likely get a Fight Scene Breakdown! The thing about getting a Fighting Styles episode is that the character's name needs to have high "searchability," or in other words, people type his or her name very often. And although Extraction is an awesome Netflix movie, nobody learned the protagonists name. So spending all that time on a Fighting Styles episode just to get a couple thousand views is not worth it.
@@Godzillarex wow now that I think about it, it took me three times watching the movie to remember the guy’s name. The Indian brat is another story tho.
MW5 on the list. If only MWO got a proper sequel or do-over.
I just want a mech game where the mechs have wight like in pacific rim and not jumping around like a grasshopper
The mechs in Titanfall 2 have considerable heft to them as well as several of the ones in Mech Warrior.
No.10 game I have it on switch and it fu**** great o definitely recommend but it's not free
Zone Of The Enders......they will never make games like that ever again..... not in that caliber. What the hell did we go wrong.... Gaming industry has changed so much.
... Really? No Super Robot Wars? Nobody said 'it must not include licensed series'!
I thought Front Mission 3 was the better tactical mech
Kind of suprised you still haven't mentioned the OG mech arena combat series Virtual On by SEGA.
It's right here on Volume 3! ua-cam.com/video/Rb_c2RlQ_6U/v-deo.html
what about Zoids the battle arena one. I think that one is pretty good too. Its on the Game Cube
Is War Tech Fighters worth buying?
I really enjoyed it and am planning on revisiting it soon!
Check out M.A.S.S Builder, hidden gem, it's an early access game
It looks pretty good! I might consider playing it once it's fully released then.
3:42 Since Gubdam Breaker 3: Break Edition but.... Since GBMobile had doing this? I got Nu Gundam Statue!
Steel batallion should be No. 1
My fav.
Yeah I would like to play armored core for answer but I literally can’t get my hands on it
It's one of those ridiculously marked up games on ebay, yep
why dont they make a proper mech games i wonder. Make one that is actually a gunpla figurine, players have to built them and do mission. That will be hugely popular
I made this comment on the first video, not knowing of a second, but if this is read, try looking into the first Heavy Gear on PC.
And now there is a third! ua-cam.com/video/Rb_c2RlQ_6U/v-deo.html
Gundams are toys s that you can build im addicted to them
Yep! I even showed a shelves full of them in the video haha
am trying to find a game that is essentially a hybrid of mechwarrior and steel battalion, lest i have to hunt a company who'll take a proposal.
also mech5 mercs is so much fun, and the sounds, mmmm the AC20's
So you want a highly technical mech sim kind of game. I mean aside from those two series you mentioned, I can't think of another that takes the customization or piloting to that degree.
@@Godzillarex yeup, and other than those two, i can't think of any other myself, guess i gotta wrote up and propose to devs
Here's Steel Battalion on Volume 3! Along with a couple other XBox Mech games too: ua-cam.com/video/Rb_c2RlQ_6U/v-deo.html
Yep! Those older games are the real deal but they are near impossible to not only buy, but get to run too haha
@@Godzillarex I think some of those are abandonware so you might be able to just get them fore free. I'm not sure if micropose even exist anymore.
Have you tried zoids battle legends?
I've heard of it! For the gamecube right?
I thought Metal Warrior was the sequel to the cybelator
They look super similar for sure!
So, you still haven't tried any Super Robot Wars games...
Didn't make it to this list.
Yooo I’m first
Wuhu!
