    Great video, but you got to pronounce the name of the town right, Kaunakakai ( Kau-na-ka-kai ) all of the a's are pronounce with a short vowel ( ah ) and the Kai is ka- (ah) ( i ) is a long vowel like eye, ka-eye, Kau - na- ka- Kai. And the town is not like a ghost town. On a normal day it's looks busy. Thank you for your video. George M Castro from Molokai.

    I love the rural country lifestyle. Green pastures,patches of timber,and the quietness,nature brings. Molokai would be my island of choice,because i love nature. Ive seen ariel videos of this island. Its very beautiful,and those very tall waterfalls leaping down the high cliffs are absolutely breathtaking!

    I grew up here for the first quarter of my life in the '60's and '70's and still consider myself kama'aina. You managed to capture the solitude of the island, but missed the hospitality of the locals. Maybe in a future video? There seems to be fresh interest in visiting Molokai, so I'm hoping that it doesn't overwhelm the very fragile balance of peace and solitude there. Watching your video I was quite confused by your pronunciation of some of the locations, so I suggest locating a native Hawaiian speaker or local citizen to aid in proper pronunciation; that hails back to one of the first points you made (and rightly so), respect the people, culture, and land. Molokai is a truly special and spiritual place. I'm thrilled that you found such joy there.

      Thanks for your comment. Because it was a holiday we did not see many local folks but the few we got to meet were incredibly nice to us. I have a friend who grew up on Kauai who is helping me with pronunciation. Sorry I messed that up so badly. I will return to Molokai and stay longer next time. Possibly another video. Thanks very much!

    How was the trip pricewise? I always hear Hawaii is expensive, but I kind of imagine this island isn’t as bad since it’s not as commercialized… Thinking about making a trip there, but none of information available

    • @MuddyRuttzz
      @MuddyRuttzz  7 місяців тому +1

      You have additional airfare for inter-island flights. I paid about $120.00 plus tip for Christmas Eve Buffet for 2 Hotel Molokai. Eating out is more expensive than mainland. You could make your first stop the grocery store and if you have a little kitchen save a ton by eating in. Get the cheapest place to stay, there really are not any bad places. You will not be spending money on night life because there is none. Hope that helps!

      We used Airbnb and stayed at Kepuhi Beach Condos. That was nice but I would like to stay at the Molokai Hotel next time. I would like to camp but I don’t think my wife will. We got the last 2 door Jeep from Alamo. Around $650.00 for 3 days. Next time I would get a SUV from a local instead. Thanks!

    There’s no ferry from Maui to Molokai?

    • @MuddyRuttzz
      @MuddyRuttzz  7 місяців тому +2

      Unfortunately no. My first choice was to take the ferry but I found out it has not run in years. Mokulele Airlines is the main transport to Molokai. There is a weekly barge that delivers to Molokai but does not take passengers. Thanks for watching!

    Would it be a place if you had the money, purchase land and could be a place to live or retire for someone or yourself, or is it to quiet!? 😃

    • @MuddyRuttzz
      @MuddyRuttzz  7 місяців тому +2

      If you like peace and quiet Molokai would be a great place to retire. Like I say in my video if you want to fit in its all about respect. If you wanted nightlife it is a quick plane trip to the bigger islands. Check it out because a lot of folks who move to Hawaii have difficulty fitting in.
