@@turkishdelight6032 I marched SCVC, and the Head Drum Major from SCV 2018, Carl Huang, was one of the visual techs. He really is one of the best people I've ever met. he's an outstanding leader, teacher, and human.
Yeah there's a 360 view of Carl Huang during the 2018 victory encore...go check it out. Y'all missed half the show if you haven't seen it...dude is LEGEND, especially the closer!! And the end of the ballad...and the end of the opener...ok, just watch the whole thing!
since this isn't up to date with the current shows, I feel like two that need to be mentioned for 2022 is the glasses drop in the bluecoats, and phantom's removal of the helmet with the hair flip. honestly just iconic, and I love when drum majors are personalized like that.
Perhaps the greatest, IMO, somehow not on this list, is another Phantom DM: Kristy Spears in 1996 driving a powerful push to the finish; two full minutes of pure passion from her. One of DCI's best DMs of all time.
Stunts and show performances are one thing but passionate directing is more authentic. Case in point the directing of Dave Dugan in the ‘76 Legend of the One Eyed Sailor. That is one of the top moments if not the number one.
honorable mention: bluecoats 2017 in the closer where samuel crawford catches a hat thrown from a trombone player and wears it for a few measures. don’t believe me? watch his headcam
Phantom Regiment 2008 - "Spartacus". Widely considered the greatest DCI show of the 21st century, with many stretching that to the greatest of all time.
@@dwaterson21 in the last decade "Babylon" has joined that club. COnsidering al the drastic abandoning of classic uniforms, hats, and all the ridiculous dancing going on now, It's almost obligatory to start judging things very differently.

Thank YOU!
Im certain no one will ever be able to top that Spartacus finale. those two guys were truly brilliant. Small timeframe but brilliantly acted.
honorable mention: SCV 2018; all drum majors did a little dance during the dance break
The head drum major also seemed like a great leader. He was so passionate

@@Jacobflint21 He seems like a once in a generation type of leader. Lucky you!

that was fun! will never forget that orange cone removal move!
The last one from phantom regiment looked so realistic and is amazing
1:11 sportsmanship at its finest 🥰

AND TROOPERS 2022 AT THE END
3:10 i love this moment so much what a cool way to include the drum majors more into the show
2:04 made me cry tbh. I've played Elsa's procession to the cathedral twice now, and it it has so much history. It's one of my favorite pieces ever.
Same! I start crying like a baby every time I see it 😭
Do you know what the show is calleed?
The clip shown in this video is “Juliet” - Phantom Regiment 2011
So many Phantom Regiment DMs!
And Spartacus is still a legendary show.
1:21 the best handshake ive ever seen
0:46 Jesus imagine how that major felt.
Nothing can top Spartacus
Notice how Phantom Regiment always delivers and is included in all these epic showdowns lol
1:09 wholesome
2:04 one my favorites
3:11 holy BALLSACC
0:44 I can’t explain how satisfying it is to hear the somehow open mouthed sound of the sound there. God dayum
Everybody knew Spartacus was gonna be on here
Was hoping for a Louisiana Stars 2019
Pulled out the baton and SNAPPED IT IN HALF!!
What a show!
sadly, the Open Class DMs are nearly universally overlooked.
2:04 is definitely my favorite
Honorable mentions should include:
SCV ‘18 drum break,
Bluecoats ‘17 hat throw,
Perhaps the greatest, IMO, somehow not on this list, is another Phantom DM: Kristy Spears in 1996 driving a powerful push to the finish; two full minutes of pure passion from her. One of DCI's best DMs of all time.
Nobody else does it like how Phan regiment does and I love them for it 🔥🔥
97 Scouts. We took that stupid penalty for that moment.
97 Scouts really did say "fuck it, let's be pirates in real life too" and broke damn near every rule in the book, and I love it
@@dwaterson21 ...and those pics turned out to be LEGEND!!!!
I was a Div III DM in ‘97, we did Robin Hood Prince of Thieves show, I wish I had a baton, I did a sword draw into a salute…
We all knew how this video would end.
I was at a high school performance and their dum majors “fought” on the stand 😭😭 It was so good
I got to take a Drum Major camp with Koji Mori, who was the Drum Major “Spartacus”!!!

Now you need to add Troopers '22
I AM SPARTACUS! 3:13
The slide whistle broke me
Needed phantom 91’ in that list
Cavies the best I can't wait till I'm old enough to join em I would be so happy if I did.
Yes, you would.
what group and year was at 1:53?
That was Cavaliers 2011: "XtraordinarY."
oh hey, i remember that phantom/crown moment from 2010
What about the drum major for Boston who had the podium collapse at a public concert
Oh no! velvet knights 1990
That's a whole video in and of itself :)
0:45 Howard Hamlin marched dci ?
Without a clip of Joel Alleyne, you can not use the word BEST
Seriously. Why does the poster think drum corps started in the late 1990s?
He was probably born post 1990
@@johngilliland3134 No excuse. KNOW THE FUCKING HISTORY.

Phantom 2008 is the best for me.
Best drum majors are the ones that understand their function and let their corps do the showing off with their performance.
Well I know I'm old, as I hated about half of that. IMO Salutes aren't great moments.
Sigh.....oh well.
