So good to see Robert out having fun! One of my favorite scenes in a movie is from his performance in Cold Blood.. his character lamenting the bad deeds, rain falling on a window, the shadows falling on his face being like ghost tears, the streams of water on the window shadowing the trails of ghost tears the character can’t quite make in reality. Awesome scene, a masterpiece of lighting, the director of photography, and actor, in perfect balance of penultimate perfection.
Robert Blake is one of a kind. Always was a fan. Glad to see that things have settled down and he is doing well. He looks really good. As a kid I grew up on some of his shows. Great story about the guitar.
i think he is dating susan sarandon...susan is a great person so i am happy for him.. they were friends for a long time also.. he deserves to have a loyal classy friend like susan...she is a queen and i hope they are still together
In his documentary called "All heart & no pants", he admits to stealing everything from knick-knacks to sofas from MGM sets while being under contract. And yes, he used the word "steal", not "inadvertantly taking without noticing". I suspect he did the same with the L5 and either Norm asked him to clean the story up or Robert was too embarrassed to call it what it was.
Love Robert Blake. He's had some tough times but he seems to have his hat on straight and he also seems really clear headed; especially when you consider all the blow and alcohol and stuff he has run thru his body. I am of course writing this some 4 years after this post so I hope he's still as good as he is here. I think I'll turn one up for "Ol Mickey"! "And that's the name of that tune"
Thank you for bringing back the memories! In cold blood excellent film directed and acted out brilliantly. Tell them Willie boy is here, another wonderful picture I’m surprised that him and Robert Redford didn’t act together again, we all know the Newman /Redford films, I can easily see Robert Blake playing off Redford in both those films. From our gang to red Ryder and everything in between, Mr. Blake you’re one hell of an actor! And you weren’t afraid to tell Louis B Mayer you couldn’t be bought, in a business that is filled with bought and paid for people.
Well that was kind of funny and kind of sad. And Blake is broke....he's more than 3 million dollars in debt between what he owes for losing his civil suit in the Bakely case and over a million he owes the I.R.S.- Probably has to keep selling momentos from time to time to keep the lights on. I live in Denver..but I've been to Norm's a couple of times when visiting L.A..Very cool guitar store. Glad Norm was able to help Blake out...cause he obviously needed it selling a guitar he's had for over 60 years.
I don't care what anyone says. I grew up watching 'Baretta' . It was one of my favorites. I still love Robert Blake. Norm is right. Mr. Blake knows where his friends are. And I am sitting right here...And you can take that to the bank..
LOVE "YOU" """"ROBERT""" ....always did...alays will...........GOD BLESS you all the days of your life... Your an incredible man............Much admiration ......for so many yrs........................... : )....
LOVE ROBERT, GREAT GUY, GREAT ITALIAN BROTHER AND GREAT ACTOR!!!!! YOUR BKLYN PISAN. LOVE TO TELL YOU A GREAT STORY HOW YOU HELPED ME IN THE 70S ROBERT!!! God and Son bless! You can take that to the bank!!!
My father and Robert Blake were friends and collaborators through the 70s and early 80s. They fell out in the 80s. Shortly thereafter, my father arrived home to find that a brick had been thrown threw one of his front windows.
Grew up Watching little rascals, & Baretta & All them Grand ole Movies! God bless ya Tony Baretta! Always ONE of my Favorites! And Datts the Name a Dat tune!!
Blake is brilliant in Lost Highway!! What a performance. Creepy beyond belief.Cheers Norm. Bobby you thieving badass!! Lol. Great story. Im sure i would "forget" to pass that back too. ;)
Speaking of Robert Blake and movie star memorabilia, several years ago, I bought a French 1955 reproduction movie poster of The Treasure of the Sierra Madre (came out in 1948) on eBay. When I got the poster, I noticed a signature on it. It looked like "Robert Blake" and then I looked it up and, sure enough, Robert Blake was a child actor in that film. I'm guessing the person who sold the poster may not have noticed the signature. I'm sure it adds value to the poster. I hope I never sell it.
Enough already with the negative comments. If you want to go after somebody for a hot guitar, try Todd Rudgren for the "Clapton Fool Guitar"! Just an example to make a point here: stuff like this happenned in the day so don't single him out, or criticize Norman for being friends with him. Peace brothers!
If he was 82 at the time of this post and he said he was 19 when he left Alaska, then do the math: he's now~86 in 2020. He was born in 1944. 1944 + 19 would be 1963. The guitar is most probably an early 1960- 1962 year model.
Robert Blake was/is a very interesting character. brilliant as a maverick artist and performer. those who love to hate on him are simply being that: haters. he lost everything. paid a lot of dues. A LOT of dues. leave the man in whatever peace he has left in his last years.
Robert if you need money, there’s nothing wrong with that, doesn’t mean anything. Life beats up all of us . I’ve sold plenty of items , we all do . Salute my Brother.
I did time in Fort Ord. Rough. 1971. We drove to Carmel five days a week to catch the sunset on the unreal beaches down there. Photolab tech. But..good things never last. The papers came. And off to Saigon.....
Blake is from nutley NJ good old Italian boy what alot of people don't know is Blake been in movies for years he acted with some of the biggest movie stars every in the industry 82 God bless this guy isn't broke he's pension must be 10 grand a month are more plus max social security check
ANTHONY CICCONE Are u related to Madonna ,thought that was her real name? Anyways I believe Hollywood actors don't get any pensions ! Not like a NHLhockey player,u play 500 games u get a pension! You're on your own when Hollywood's done with u!
I may not be Itralian but that's the name of that tune. You can take that to the bank. Lol Mom never wanted to let me watch Barretta. So I would sneak and watch. Among many other roles he's played I will always love him and be one of his biggest fans at 49. Just keep strokin Mr. Blake 💜🌷👍🏼
Used to workout at this gym where he worked out at on Sherman Way in the Valley back in 1980. He was nice to us "kids" but once he got talking he wouldn't shut up. Anyway, he was a nice guy then and he was in good shape. The gym was Don Peters Gym
Cool story behind that ole' Gibson! Robert played some excellent roles throughout his career. Thanks for sharing Norm!

I always enjoyed being entertained by Bobby Blake. - Such a great under rated actor. RIP Bobby. We're gonna miss ya.

"And that's the name of that tune!" Love, Tony Baretta
This man, I will never forget. RIP Mr. Blake.
Robert Blake is and has always been top Shelf. he is a great guy and I would love to have a beer with this Little Raskle

This guy needs to make a movie! Great actor!

I still remember Robert playing guitar and harmonica on "Baretta" and "the Tonight Show" when he guest hosted for Johnny Carson.
Once again, he's killing it.
Your sick.
Wow killer guitar Robert! ;)
M.W. Keating it is a killer!
M.W. Keating I am really trying hard not to laugh.
He told Norman "I´d kill to have this guitar"...legend says he got it with a hardcase and lifetime supply of strings, all in 30 seconds.

The man has had his problems, but is a great actor...Baretta was a great character...and that guitar is amazing.
Norm really got a killer deal on this one.
Great gifted Actor his daughter and son from his first marriage stole him blind stole everything from him very sad .
May he rest in peace that was one heck of a caricature i mean Robert not the guitar 🎸

+GuitarZombie Yes it was, yes it was...
+GuitarZombie Damn right! Not like this childish crap nowadays! Fuck everyone who does not agree!
+Coors I agree, but what does that have to do with Blake stealing the guitar from his post? Stolen property is stolen property.
+Tioga Fretworks Give me a break!
Don't do the crime if you can't do the time.....
and keep your eye on the sparrow
I'm looking for a Charles Manson guitar, can you help me out?
No, but how bout an OJ Simpson? It is a killer instrument.
I heard they're pretty rare because most guitars that were found for him didn't fit
You can play it with two pairs of gloves on.
With blades at the edges.
Can we be nice, let the legal system handle the legal issues and just appreciate the guitars?
Blake is brilliant in Lost Highway!! What a performance. Creepy beyond belief.Cheers Norm. Bobby you thieving badass!! Lol. Great story. Im sure i would "forget" to pass that back too. ;)

He may not have been broke in 2015 when this video was released but he's broke now, living off of social security in a small apartment.

Norm has mercy on Blake's singing.
Sure he forgot he was carried this big guitar on his back on a boat back from Alaska, yea right lol
We've met before, haven't we?
Killer guitar player!!
Blake just murdered that guitar solo.
That guy acted in a movie with Humphrey Bogart plus he was in the Little Rascals. That's how old he is.
TY for serving!
Bobby Blake, last of the "real" guys.
That is a really nice guitar.
Yeah he's a childhood favorite.
He needed money for a new gun.
Right how can anyone not notice a guitar? Maybe a bottle of mustard. Like he wants the world to believe he nothing to do with killing his wife.
“Let the good times roll” Cheers!

Ted Bundy would make a fine picker. I wish Phil Spector and Charles Manson would have done an album together they were in the same prison at Corcoran
I would say dubious at best forgetting to give back the guitar.
