Would love to see something on how to fix active aqua temp sensor. Mine is registering hot water up to 140 degrees shutting the chiller down for protective measures. P2 error.
I have an ice maker you put in Affresh ice machine cleaner every three months. This prevents scale build-up which is crucial in maintenance. I had bought a used ice maker that wasn't working and this was the problem - the hard water deposits clogged up the system. The previous owners didn't put the Affresh cleaner in the icemaker. After running the cleaner through the system the ice maker worked great. I think using Affresh ice maker cleaning solution instead of hydrogen peroxide for 45 minutes might be better to prevent scale build-up. Another great video! Your audio is great. I really enjoy your content.
Would this be the same for the penguin chiller? Also when do u remove your chiller from the plunge come winter? First freeze? This is my first year with your older design plans. Never thought about how i can keep my plunge cold after chiller removal for winter and before its cold enough outside to keep my plunge cold enough (i live in southen wisconsin).
I'm currently using a large garbage bin, encased in cedar and insulated with spray foam... The wife is concerned about micro plastics 🙄 Between rubber and metal, which would you suggest is best to limit toxic leeching chemicals?
@ got a galvanized steel tank. Figure if animals can drink out of it it's good... Also harder than a vertical drop into a garbage bin. Laying back feels vulnerable.
The pump is the heart of the system.... If that fails all bets are off. If you dont live in a freezing climate you will likely be fine and not have any permanent damage
It is best to pull it in. I am willing to risk it in the name of benefitting all of you guys and sharing what I learn. Mine did fine, but I did have an in-line heater.
All the info you share you deserve it man !
Truly appreciate this! Thank you 🙏
Do the active aqua please. Awesome video
You got it, thanks!
I second this! My build will be done in a few hours thanks to you @diycoldplunge !

Wondering the same..
Similar maintenance for the Penguin, but there isnt as much weather protection/screens. I pull the chiller in for the winter around Thanksgiving

I'd check with the manufacturer of each specific tank for what you are most comfortable with 👍

Is there any fail safe method that you know of to protect the chiller incase the water pump fails? I have the 1/4HP active aqua chiller. Thx

Can the chiller be outside in winter, didn’t it freeze up?

Any chance you’d do a Rocita chiller? 👀
I'll work on that 👍
Thanks!!!!!!
No problem!
Active aqua please!
Can do 👍
Deep dive active aqua
Will do 👍
