Starting big always allows you to downscope to the essentials that will still end you up making something you want. Keeping the idea small from the get go just limits imagination.
100% and worst case, you fail with the large scope, come back smaller, and approach and complete! Sometimes going wild is needed to keep you excited with your development.
Yeah there's some kind of irony in so many hugely successful devs saying "Don't do what I did". Like why not clearly they did fine lol. No such thing as failure if you learn.
It's the mistakes in the beginning that brace you for the ones down the line! It's why I say follow your path and learn from your own mistakes and not others' mistakes. It's up to each person to learn from them though of course.
