Wow, I'm surprised that there are not more comments this is a happy time and joyful moment I give anything to be there. I really would give anything to help them
WOW! First off yay for the release of these sweet orangs!!! And big round of applause for all the employees and volunteers on the ground who make it happen. 👏👏👏 Second, wow just amazing footage of 2 orangs in their cages mid flight! Love the one poking at the camera with his twig and happy to see both looked relaxed and not stressed while flying through the air. Its not every day an orang gets a first class flight like that! 🦧🦧🦧❤❤❤❤❤
Amazing. What wonderfull work. Thank you for BOS. Thank you for team. Thank you for organitation. Thank you for all of volunter in the world that support resque, rehabilitation, release orang utan.🥰
Saya harap orang kalimantan, sulawesi, sumatera dll yang masih punya hutan asri mohon dijaga kelestariannya dan sama2 stop pengalihan hutan dengan minyak palem, semoga kedepannya mereka dapat survive di alam dan beranak .
Thank you BOS, for the amazing work that you do. The only thing missing from this video is information about the animals, themselves. Many of us have been following their stories for awhile, but not everyone has. So, the names of the orangutans, and some biographical information about each (it wouldn't have had to be long - maybe a short clip about them when they first came and under what circumstances they arrived) would have been wonderful to have. So, who, exactly, are we celebrating into freedom? Noel is the only one we get a name for (and I am so excited for him, as I remember when he came in 2012). Is Gunung among the released too? Please fill us in!
Great points, Lark! It can be tough finding a balance with all the info. We try our best to include links back to our website so viewers can find our more about the story depicted in the clip- such as background stories of the orangutans being released... For example: redapes.org/bosf-release-candidate-profiles-for-the-1st-orangutan-release-of-2021/ Do you mean this Gunung? redapes.org/gunung He's being cared for at IAR Ketapang! :-)
@@redapes So I guess the Noel I was referring to isn't the Noel who was released. The Noel I am thinking of was besties with Gunung (and yes, that's him! 😀). Any updates on those two?
Doing well in Forest School. Getting bigger every day! :-) We post about Gunung every so often on FB as he's in our adoption program.... facebook.com/OrangutanOutreach
I know with the Pandemic it is has been difficult but I really think to get the word our better and reach more places, you need to invite National Geographic and others back. Jungle School was an awesome show. More things like that to increase your donations and being able to help more Orangutans.
Thanks for your concern! Much appreciated. There are plans to continue filming Orangutan Jungle School as soon as covid protocols allow. Hopefully early in the new year... but with Omicron now spreading it's impossible to predict.... We are excited to continue telling the story, but only when it's safe!
Just wondering......., how many times might a orangutan be sedated like this before their release. Is there a danger of TOO MANY SHOTS along the way. The babies & youngsters are raised n handle well but these Big Old Fellas would need a shot just about every time they are handled. I wonder if these big guys ever remember their flight by helicopter 🚁.
Great question. Every effort is made to minimize the number of sedations for all the orangutans. The larger (adult) orangutans are not 'handled' very often while being cared for at the rescue centers. While they are in cages, they are shifted back and forth in order to clean, repair, add enrichment and/or get closer to a particular individual. If they are awake they certainly remember the flight... Probably less so if they are groggy-- same as us! They are usually still asleep, though, and are woken up upon arrival... after which there is a period of time for them to fully awaken... after which the door is lifted and they emerge into the forest... They quickly scamper up the nearest tree... and usually look back at the folks on the ground.... You can actually see the inquisitiveness on their faces... :-)
