I come back to this song when things are confusing or tough. As said, so many different emotions. Each time I have come back to listen over the years I reflect back to the other points in my life when I would play this song. It really is a lovely rendition of this song.
Peter Liddle was with me 10 years ago at Delhi and we watched Manganiyar Seduction together at NH7 Weekender. I went there alone from Mumbai. I still can't forget that experience. I never imagined such a talented musician would just stand beside me and enjoy a beautiful musical performance together as if we were friends. I have a photograph saved somewhere with him. I will never forget it.
His voice stirs emotions in me, its frail and beautiful, like he is about to burst out in tears and a something made of glass is quivering when he sings, ready to break if he sings louder
My dad was asking me what kind of music I listen to. I was especially insecure at the time and valued the time I spent alone with my music, but I decided to show him this band. He was interested and looked them up. Annnnnnnd he told me they had split four days prior. After that I was sad and didn't listen to them for a while. I'm glad to be listening again. This is beautiful!
I have been following Dry The River at festivals and everything since 2010, still as amazing now as they were back then. This is still one of my fave videos of them!
A few weeks ago I was bored by the music I was listening too, struggling to find something fresh and new. Thank god for this channel! Acoustic versions are always more soulful I find
After I listened to this song one time, all I could do is stare at the wall for ten minutes, unable to really focus on anything, object or thought. I found some sort of inner serenity after listening to this music. It spoke to me.
I first heard about this band almost a year ago in the Guardians "new band of the day" and I still return to the same songs when I need a tonic. Their music makes me feel so good over and over
i wonder how many times i have watched this video. the lyrics, the melody, and the way their voices are always on the breaking point makes this song probably the best song i've heard this year. holy fuck, words can not explain how beautiful this song is. please come to norway
I came across this band by chance a few months ago and this was the first song I ever heard from them. Their music grabbed my heart and havent let it go since then. Their songs are so touching that I even cried while listening to some of them. This band became something special for me. I saw them performing live two weeks ago and I still have goose bumps when I think about it. I hope there will be many many more albums by this incredible band in the future. Keep up the good work, guys!
This is one of the best songs I have ever heard. Its heart aching yet beautiful, the voices are amazing sends shivers through my spine! This song can make me cry or fall asleep, it's just stunning, one of the most under rated bands ever!
reading ur post as i listened to the song, i could not help putting myself in your place and wept. My heart goes out to you and those this tragedy touched.
i only came across this band yesterday. Although there are many great young bands that deserve recognition for their creativity, this band certainly grabs one's attention. Absolutely beautiful. :-)
i just wanted to say i shared this on my facebook page because i absolutely adored it, and i got reactions along the lines of 'gorgeous, thank you for making my day, thank you for introducing me to dry the river' etcetera, so basically, you are amazing and keep doing what you guys do.
Back again. Watched them cancel a gig in a rainstorm in Norway. Only to play an acoustic gig in the sound tent where the rain and wind was faced the other way. Everybody cried and it was the best day/gig ever.
LYRICS: Lo and behold! Your mother is drinking again This might be the coldest winter since records began You were a low moon, steady with wintry calm Leading the children softly across the farm Each morning you'd march your sisters like soldiers to school Cause lo and behold! Your father had drunk all the fuel You were a low moon, steady with wintry calm Somewhere inside the fire of your youth went dark But you swear blind there is no weight in the water pail You say "My love, you take the cards that you're dealt Cause there's no guiding light arching a line to Bethlehem If it's dark outside you light the fire yourself" Darling when the ice caps melt When the devil's in the bible belt Don't cower in your bed I'll be on the 5:45 You can meet me at the railway line And don't look so scared Cause we've been through worse than this before we could talk The trick of it is, don't be afraid any more
feels as if i fall slowly from the sky wind blowing through my hair and peace...that's what i feel right now, peace thankyou for making me feel this way during this terrible day :)♫♥
after all these years i still come back to listen to this. so peaceful yet full of so many different emotions. absolute love.
I totally know what you mean. It's one of my all-time favorite songs
They're not exactly in my top bands, but gaddamn Shallow Bed is really up there in my favorite albums. This song still slaps until now

I come back to this song when things are confusing or tough. As said, so many different emotions. Each time I have come back to listen over the years I reflect back to the other points in my life when I would play this song. It really is a lovely rendition of this song.
Anyone still come back to this song?
I must be at least a thousand plays by myself.

Same.
I listen to this every morning when I go to work, and every time I feel like crying
Well the good thing is you don't have to work now! #covid
Damn this was 9 years ago...
They are not simply singing; but they are talking to your heart. Beautiful in deed.
His voice stirs emotions in me, its frail and beautiful, like he is about to burst out in tears and a something made of glass is quivering when he sings, ready to break if he sings louder
Sublime... Somehow captures all the depth of the human experience
God. So many memories. Hits my heart like a fucking sledge hammer.

This made me find and fall in love with DTR, and I got to drive 3 hours to Seattle to watch them play in 2014 🤍
This is so good, look at how human beings can do beautiful and 'simple' things! Everything is not dead, I have faith again. Thanxxx!!!
This is so beautiful. It is sung with the sorrow of an aging blues artist but with the sweetness of a small child.
I am in awe.
I cannot express how much I love this "striped" down version of Bible belt. It is such a beautiful song and so nicely sung.
Simply beautiful.
You guys are simply the best! As much as I hear your acoustic versions, the more I like each song! AWESOME!
After I listened to this song one time, all I could do is stare at the wall for ten minutes, unable to really focus on anything, object or thought. I found some sort of inner serenity after listening to this music.
It spoke to me.
Brought tears to my eyes!!! And the ending was powerful~loved it -Katie
