windragon12343 the males definitely seem to hiss more. I only keep males because of their entertainment value. They get protective over objects you place with them. My last one died about six months ago. Had them almost 2 years.
Ernest Kwame Adu they lived on the counter in their little cage and would get frisky and knock each other around. It was always funny to be watching tv in the living room and hear a scuffle start. 😊
Mine live on my nightstand and it's funny as hell when I play video games. I don't know what sound it is but it sets them off and it's hilarious when people ask me if I can "stop shaking those maracas?"
Why don't they have a HIDE? Why is their enclosure so small i would put them in a 5 gallon. Why r they so exposed to light 😠 these roaches seem very stressed and I would think that this is because of nowhere to hide. BTW you have too many males with so less females this will cause males to fight. YOU HAVE 4 MALES FOR GOD SAKE THIS IS TRIGGERING THE RATIO IS 1 MALE to 5 FEMALE OMG UR SO INEXPERIENCED.
Umbrella Corp I KNOW!!!!!! ALSO, UR NOT SUPPOSED TO SPRAY THEM DIRECTLY!!!!!! THEY BATHE THEMSELVES AND EACH OTHER!!! U NEED TO LEARN ABOUT THEM BEFORE GETTING THEM!!
I’m greatly interested in getting them as pets, so I’ve been doing a lot of research on them. So the title of this video alone made me feel some kind of way. Then when I saw how he kept them😱😱this video is uncomfortable altogether.
Omg they are in prefect condition. People need to not pay attention to this. You CAN spray them directly as it doesn't harm them as in the wild they would be rained on so it's mimicking their wild habbitat. Secondly males and females ratios don't matter They will head but each other which isn't harmful, it doesn't matter how many are together, HOWEVER, they are lal males which clearly shows your inexperience as you can tell males to females because if you could you would know they are all boys! Lastly they are allowed in direct sunlight as they will move out of the way if they want. Also just as a little extra their space is plenty big for them, I have known people to keep them in small containers filled with 20+adults and many babies and they have been fine. So not she isn't a bad keeper of them at all. Only thing I agree with you on is they need tk be able to hide away
Wtf is wrong with u, they are stressed out and have no proper substrate and humidity (which needs to be high), no place to hide and probably not even good temperature. Then you Basically drowning them in water, as their abdomen has ten segments, each with spiracles for respiration. Learn about a pet before getting it.
How do you know they are stressed? I agree they need a better substrate however they don't rely on it. Yes they also need somewhere to hide, but they are the only things I will agree with you on right now. Now on to my knowledge. No they so not have 10 segments. They have 3 same as other insects. Their temp and humidity does not effect them like people think it does. I have known it to where they have had little Hest and not humidity and they have had nymphs and are still alive. Now lastly the drowning part. They only down if they are submerged in water for a period of time, if they are sprayed or in water for a little time they are perfectly fine, trust me I know as mine love to escape into the washing machine and survive it every time.
Dude this is completely unnecessary and really bad for them. They groom themselves and have beneficial mites that clean them too. By bathing them you are washing off their mites and increasing their risk of fungal infections. Your enclosure is also completely unfit for them, it needs to be at least 5 gallons and have plenty of places for them to hide. This video is older so I hope you have learned to do better for them in this time.
Use a heatmat and spray enclosure twice every 2 weeks but if struggling to molt then increase humidity. Should be given orchid bark as they really like it as they can burrow.
Sarah Harris sure. 😊 I only keep males and they tend to get defensive over objects so I keep a ping pong ball in there to keep them occupied. I also consider it a "point/score" if I wake up in the morning and the ball has been flipped into the bowl overnight. lol
Lovely Human I would spray them off once a month or so. They'll get dusty like anything else. Definitely not necessary, just keeps the dust from accumulating.
@shanejaydub8271 I just never seen a hissing cockroach before but I'm terrified of cockroaches ever since when I was a little boy one crawled in my mouth while I sleeping
Kenzie :3 they're fun and interesting. Kids love them. My nieces and nephew think it's the coolest thing to go to uncle Shane's to see them. That's the first thing they ask about lol.
Scared to absolute death of roaches, finds this type of roach exceedingly cute
CourageUniverse they're little sweeties...
Zagi they’re really chill and docile! I have two
I have an simple question, for people who cares of them:
Are they calm animals?
The American cockroach is the scary boi
@@shanejaydub8271 your really not supposed to put them in water
Aww I wish mine would hiss, she's too docile though. When I pet her she just lays down as flat as possible, eventually just cleaning herself on me

Only males hiss
@@umbrellacorp294 You are spreading dez-information. Females hiss as well.
They hiss because they're stressed
My female hisses like mad lmao
The title must be how to kill my Madagascar Hising Cockroaches
I'm pretty sure they almost died
They can actually survive water pretty well
But not suggesting to bath them entirely in water
I can't imagine just being hissed at while asleep... It would scare me to death at night, haah

My roaches will give the occasional “tss” and I’m always like well excuse you
Im actually not afraid of cockroaches, especially this species, but it's just that they can fly and that flapping noise they make is what scares me
Yep you probably know this but Madagascan hissers (these ones) don't have wings luckily!
the thing that scares me of them is their speed
That enclosure is hideous, at least give them some places to climb around and hide
That's actually kinda unsafe, they have small eyes on their heads
Grooming is a thing ya know
Devin The Gamer they’re fine. I mist their habit almost every day
Not a whole lot of love towards the animals he's misting ...these are awesome and gentle animals who deserve better than that.
They deserve to be crushed and that is what they get when I cross paths with one >:D
@C An anteater would love your delicious colony 😋
fr dude, and their enclosure sucks too

jasmine undermusic18 Sometimes you just walk by and they hiss lol.
jasmine undermusic18 my local pet shop's colony hiss if you even go into room. They have big personalities for monotone insects
I pretty much like their hiss because it’s pretty cute... /:
i personally dont likke roaches but this is abuse cuz u dont treat thhem with love or care
Okay twitter fan

Everything you said is true, bit when this video was released not a lot was known about their care so that’s why everything here is so wrong
WTF? They are LIVING CREATURES not pebbles that u can toss around >:((
Be GENTLE and CAREFUL!
dont worry, they have a strong exoskeleton and are very durable, ive seen people handle them much worse and they where just fine
It's hard enough to intentionally kill them, you think he's going to accidentally kill them?
thank u
now i know how i can water my locusts
(btw your roaches seems really angry when u was catching them)
Y u give your hissers so much water?
Such mischievous bastards!
Thay clean themselves
Why are you so mean to them you are not gentle at all
they sound like endermites
How do you heat the cage?
three Musketeers I've never used any heat. They've always been fine at room temperature.
Use a heatmat and spray enclosure twice every 2 weeks but if struggling to molt then increase humidity. Should be given orchid bark as they really like it as they can burrow.
Umbrella Corp did you get this from emzotic ?
Shane JayDub dude they need heat they only mate when it's hot
lovelyxskinny they only need heat when you’re living in a cold climate and sometimes people just want them as pets and not to breed them.
My mom hates cockroaches but I want one.
They're super easy to take care of. Mine mainly just eat old fruits and vegetables.
Can I ask what the ball object is for?
Sarah Harris sure. 😊 I only keep males and they tend to get defensive over objects so I keep a ping pong ball in there to keep them occupied. I also consider it a "point/score" if I wake up in the morning and the ball has been flipped into the bowl overnight. lol
that is hecking cute
@@shanejaydub8271 Should remember that for future, when my nymphs hissers will mature. Thanks.
I hope they were still al dente.
808Fee just a little crunchy....
808Fee 😉🤣
How often to cockroaches need to be bathed? Is it essential?
GreyLynx Splash I don't know if it's necessary at all. I just like to keep the dust off of them and help them stay hydrated.
Shane JayDub oh I see, thanks
Shane JayDub btw they can keep them selves clean but I see ur point.
They're saying they want to bite you.
but they look cute
i love hising crochroch
This is the same blue noodle colander thst I also have. But I am from germany. This thing is quite old.
How often would you recommend washing them?
Lovely Human I would spray them off once a month or so. They'll get dusty like anything else. Definitely not necessary, just keeps the dust from accumulating.
in my house there no hissing crocorch
Wow there manascar cockroach’s cool👍
Do they bite?
Nope. They're actually a really fun and cheap "countertop" pet. Kids really love them. 😊
