Whenever I listen to Chan, I am challenged. He causes me to look at my own life. In a nation full of prosperity gospel, new gospel churches, Chan stands firm on God's word and truth.
Just out of curiousity, it's been 5 years since you commented. Did any of those burdens that were revealed, are all of them surrendered with God now? Did you get through any of them with Him?
I am a baby in Christ and have been thirsting for the word and hand the bible but and away from me all day and he has made me want more by his easy and understanding of it so glad his teaching of the many issues we face are here for me. God this man is a blessing to me..Thank You! God be with you Francis Chan always!
I have been a Christian for over 35 years.. chan is not a good teacher. He hangs out with other fake preachers. IF you want real bible teaching that will help you grow, mature then listen to Either John McCarther or Justin Peters or Bannon Howse. or Susan Heck or Phil Johnson. Please Avoid any one who is on TBN.. they are all just greedy wolves who do not preach the real truth in the bible. Find a bible church that teaches Verse by verse. Find a church that teaches all the bible.. not just the feel good garbage.
D Mason, I like those teachers, too, however, Chan is associated with J McArthur and was trained at John's seminary school. Chan also gave up a _very_ high salary and drives an old car. His fruits are good, and that's how the Bible tells us to spot a good tree.
D Mason 35 years? Then you should be able to tell , Pastor Francis is not false. He teaches according to the scriptures. Unlike Joel Osteen, Joyce Meyers, Paul White etc... He is very humble man.
@@livetoforgive8691 you know that no one is perfect right? That's why he tells us to read and understand the gospel ourselves with God's help... Because that's the best way to do it... No preacher is good because they are still humans.... They tend to make mistakes..that's just how we all are as humans That's why we need to depend 100% towards God and not towards other people
Truth that saves. Thank you for posting this video. It's very refreshing to hear the truth in all its beauty and simplicity. I pray that the Lord will bring a special blessing in your life.
Francis I love you! Such a piercing message, but so sweet at the same time! Amen!! I love how he recorded the video, I am really gonna try my best to acknowledge people more and not be respecter of men!! Thank you for this video, praise God!
There’s just God and people. There’s not different level of people. Wow! If you’re a true follower of Jesus, you cannot help but feel the need to come up higher after listening to this man of God.
He only mentioned her at 30:45 , but the overall message was to not show favoritism to rich people. It doesn't mean we can't like them [I assume], but we shouldn't respect them, or value them more than any other human being just because of their social status. It was more of a critical thinking question.
I reckon this is one of the most, if not the most pertinent message for our precious global church in this century! Man I love Christ, I love the Church and I love the instructions and gifts God has given her to live as to glorify Him. Father help us to live so that you can use us to make a change around us?
Praise Almighty God for all things good. That list is endless and just happens to include Francis Chan, his family and his church. Wow...has it really been 3 years since the last post? Well, I guess this kind of message just never gets old!
Exactly. "Love your neighbours as you love yourself." When you begin to understand what this means, your heart begins to ache for all souls of this world. Why do you think that children of Christ are so passionate about spreading the Word? BECAUSE they DON'T want to see their brothers and sisters go to this horrific, unimaginable, place. I believe the WORST part about hell will the the knowing of your God and Creator, and beings SEPERATED from him for all eternity. That is the true sadness.
Andrej Bosnjak Thank you for posting this Andrej! That is what was revealed to me too during contemplative prayer when I asked the Lord about purgatory and hell. The sorrow that I felt can't be put into words. And I was only given a mere fraction. The separation and longing to be united to His Love when it's right before you IS the deepest and most indescribable painful longing!! Our most important purpose/mission in this life is to help as many souls avoid this regret/hell and to fall in Love with our Lord Jesus Christ ~ the Savior of our souls.
to those calling francis a false teacher leading those to hell, i guess u forgot about the part where ONLY GOD CAN JUDGE and francis preaches the love of jesus christ. he interprets the bible like all preachers . we are human. interpret for yourself but don't call a child of GOD a false teacher
@D Mason: And how many of us has read every single verses in the bible and understood every single words we read which will enable us to call out false teacher? You or me could be called false teacher just because someone "mis-interpret" the bible. It is always in my believe that there is not a single person who can interpret the bible perfectly and there is no one "smart" enough or holy enough to be able to judge that someone else is mis interpreting the bible. I guess what I am saying is, if you think that a teaching is not right, then lets just walk away from it. Do you ever feel like the other believes/religion is right? My guess is no, you don't believe they are the right teaching. But do you go up to their religious leader and start calling them false teachers? My guess is no, you don't do that, but instead you leave them alone and maybe, just maybe, you will occasionally pray for them or maybe you don't even bother praying for them, I don't know, I guess only you know :) So lets just leave the judging to someone else. @ Calvin Parsley: How are you living your life? are you living a life as a born again person glorifying God's name? Can others see Christ in your words and deeds all the time? Sorry, since i do not want to judge in hypocrisy I will allow you the opportunity for you judge yourself biblically.
Calvin Parsley if you think that Chan is trying to deceive anyone into embracing worldly ways, if you think that Chan has not died to himself, if you think that Chan seeks the approval and praise of man over God, if you think that Chan does not live out the gospel, then you have not heard his message. I have not finished watching this particular video, and this was made several years ago, but I have watched many many of his sermons and feel convicted that he is a man seeking only gods Glory and has encouraged many and that path including myself. If you have not done so yet, listen to his audiobook Crazy Love, (or you can purchase it and feel good knowing that 100% of proceeds are donated), you will see through this book that Chan does not appeal to emotions nor try to twist scripture to suit what others would like to hear. Chan dives into many topics that he knows may turn many off as they are hard on worldly ears, however he chooses to do so regardless. Because he wants so badly for us to live out the true gospel.
@Cyrus Dabar there is nothing "watered down" about Chan's message. You should focus your "biblical Knowledge" into commenting on the inmoral UA-cam channels and leave this man alone. By the way, God could care less about how much scripture verses you can recite. That is why he disliked the Pharisees ways. Jesus forces you to use the Word as a mirror to change your imperfections. He only cares about your heart and soul. Do you like what you see in yours?
Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.
This is what church should be all about, where the church goes out and meet the need of the poor. And while in church, you can ask questions, an interactive service.
Thanks for sharing. Got an idea to take my grandchildren and visit one of this refuge camps to show them the state of our world. learn them how good we have it, and maybe stir up my kids to live for others instead of live a materealistic self focused life. God Bless
@MrNoelJMIS A morally wrong action is essentially in opposition to what I just stated in my earlier post. 1. Denying one's autonomy. Not allowing someone to make choices based on their personal want's and desires. 2. Finally, another morally wrong action or something that doesn't fall into the category as good is causing detriment to society.
@MrNoelJMIS "If I want to steal something because I need it to live, is that morally wrong?" I'm glad you asked this because my friends and I get in arguments about this. I would say yes and no and here's why. Its not wrong to want to live and therefore you steal to feed yourself. However, stealing whether or not we agree is still a morally wrong action since its creating havoc in a society. Now, in the biblical view stealing is always wrong and morally reprehensible.
i believe he said "neighbors," not enemies. We are all enemies of God at one point and it takes love to bring us to the father through the son, whose death and resurrection are His ultimate showing of love to His enemies. If we do not love god's enemies, how could we spread to them the message of christ
You have got to be kidding me. When he asked, "What do you think of when I say Lima Peru?" I was like, "Holy crap, I have been on a missions trip there twice!". Weird.
Good point! But Lima-Peru is not as he described it in this video ... it has areas of poverty but it has also pretty areas. The coast of Lima is very nice :)
@surshot56 hi! actually people don't go to church for that. in fact, watching the video, he doesn't spend much time on that question at all. i agree that it's not the best title. thanks for commenting! if you end up watching the whole thing, i'd love to know what you think.
@MrNoelJMIS "what is good?" Well from a secular perspective a morally right action does the following, 1. preserves one's autonomy. Allowing people to freely make choices based on their personal want's and desires. Too add to that it is also right not to hinder someone else's personal autonomy as well. 2. Another action that is considered good or morally right are actions that benefit society as a whole such as promoting harmony, health, and the like.
Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that his deeds will be exposed.
actually we can't even take that. We take only love for God with us. Everything else is checked at the door. Those souls? Christ redeemed. However, it is AWESOME that you keep in step with Him and be faithful as His ambassador/servant/child.
Actually, interestingly enough, I haven't heard him argue about a young earth. When he does talk about creation, I've always heard him concede millions of years. But then, that is because it is not his area of expertise. He is always about solidly proving God's existence, God's central role in creating all things, and Jesus's resurrection. You should listen to him more as he builds the case- it's really quite solid. I've seen MAJOR atheists crumble- and Dawkins won't even debate him!
There are things that you can't prove yet you still hold as true. Ethics, politics, philosophy, to name a few. The existence of a deity might be an unfalsifiable claim, but so do the statements "atoms exist", "the universe is real", "logic works". You can't prove atoms exist. You can't prove reality is real. You can't prove logic works. But those are things that you hold as true in order to have a consistent worldview.
@MrNoelJMIS "We always need a judge to decide what is right, and I choose the Creator of everything because I trust He knows best what to do! I'll get into that later." So, as I said earlier in my previous post, you subscribe to the primitive doctrine of "might makes right." Because God is God and can't be challenged therefore what he says goes. A lot of Christians make this mistake without even realizing it.
I was a big fan of Pastor Francis Chan, but then the Lord revealed to me that there are lots of false prophets out there especially in this era. And it’s hard to see when it’s disguised as someone so humble, meek, and great use of words & heartfelt messages!! But we must open our eyes and bibles and ask the Lord on every step or you will be deceived along with the masses. Remember the road is narrow!! So be vigilant. Ps; This is the biggest lesson that has caused me to see he isn’t the best preacher like I thought he was, because the Lord says we do not wrestle against flesh and blood but of principalities and powers. Oprah is a new ager who is pushing other gods and not salvation or Christ. So as a believer and follower of Christ we know there is no mercy there! She will going to hell just like the rest of them (unfortunately) that do not accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior. So you would think Francis would be preaching more on salvation or using his platform to reach out to Oprah or others, instead of sweeping it under the rug! As Christians we care for their sounds and would never want anyone to go to hell and it’s to real!!! & eternal!!! So why is this man not mentioning it but is concentrating on the fleshly memo of treating the rich the same when we see them. Who cares! Preach on salvation! Save souls! Preach on spiritual warfare and uncover what the enemy is doing to deceive people and distract! Sorry Francis Chan, you’re exposed!! Repent and get it together in front of the Lord! Our people need your platform and the truth must be spread, time is running out!
My spirit is absolutely encouraged and stirred up by much of what Francis says in general. However, when it comes to judgement day, God has no 'movie clips' of our sins - those got destroyed when Christ forgave us. Mercy is here and now, and then, too. Forgiven now is forgiven eternally. Not the main point of what we was saying here, but an important distinction to make.
Hitchens for one, many other professors I can't list here- look up "Does God Exist?" and you'll see many of his arguments. Dawkins clearly stated that he wouldn't debate Craig because he doesn't see the topic worth discussing...which is funny because the topic at hand was a critical analysis of Dawkins' OWN BOOK "The God Delusion". Check out the videos- there are some really good thought-provoking arguments given.
I agree with Allen lee. yet I believe the bible and god is real. I feel like when I try to use my own reasoning i loose faith for a minute. but then I remember I only get out what I put in. then I look around me and although through my eyes its all all just business as usual but you, me and everything around us is a miracle. I think most people believe that their soul is separate from their body and if that's true than there's your spirit and proof of the spirit world. there is no better option than the god of the bible on this earth. What else would their be to give hope and reason for your life and soul.
@MrNoelJMIS "He's trying to guide man toward what He knows is best for each of us. Under "Natural Law" we are at the mercy of the masses- without omnipotence or omniscience, who have clearly made far too many self-centered decisions." The point of being a parent is allowing your children to make the best possible choices on their own without the guidance or help of a parent. God is like a parent that never goes away and doesn't allow you to make your own decisions which is silly and wrong.
@MrNoelJMIS "Are any wants/desires immoral?" I would say this, as long as they don't infringe on the autonomy on others and create detriment to society. However, you might ask what about committing adultery? True its well within a person's autonomy to commit adultery however, going outside ones marriage to have sex without consent is immoral. I'm basing this on the foundation of treat others as yourself.
@MrNoelJMIS "If we desire not to be in God's presence, He gives us our desire." However, he doesn't leave it there does he? He will send those who don't love him to hell to live where they choke and scream and cry forever and ever till the end of time. But he loves you!!!!!
@MrNoelJMIS yeah you found a verse talking about God giving Satan to ruin his life and i'm disagreeing here. I was talking about what God said when he said, "You incited me to ruin Jacob without any REASON or CAUSE" Let that sentence dwell within your mind and then come back to me. This is what your God is saying about Job.
@MrNoelJMIS Most Christians get in trouble when they say, oh lying in this instance is acceptable since you're saving the lives of other people. However, what does God say? Thou shalt not steal and his decree is not open to interpretation or change. Lying under God's standard is always wrong, no if's and's or but's. If you believe that God would say lying in this instance is okay then you're shifting gears to my secular understanding of morality. I look forward to your response. Thanks.
In the End Days, many will claim to be Christians. Many will be false prophets. You will know them by their fruits. Truth is the Word of God. Everyone will face God on Judgement Day and will be accountable for every word, thoughts and deeds. On Judgement day, ALL knees will bow and all tongues will confess that Jesus is Lord. Amen.
@MrNoelJMIS "God is infinite in knowledge, wisdom and understanding, so I will never exceed or equal Him...therefore I am dependent. You are too, but you don't choose to acknowledge that. All have fallen short..." God is infinite and in his wisdom huh? So in his infinite wisdom he created people knowing that they would fall and go to hell? Some loving parent.
@MrNoelJMIS "Well I suppose one could take that section- from Job Two- out of context and be confused" That's usually the response I get from most Christians when God himself said he ruined Job without any reason or cause and he also admitted that he was incited to ruin Job. You keep reverting back to Job loving God but that not what the story is talking about and even Job realizes that when he questions God justice not his power.
It is not about Oprah, it is about how many ppl treat celebrities vs say a homeless person. God does not want us to treat them differently, but rather to love everyone equally. God loves everyone just where they are right now.
@MrNoelJMIS "this statement really means that Job had given God no reason to be punished...like he was undeserving of the things that happened to him. Make sense?" uh duh. God had no reason to ruin Job just like you said.
@MrNoelJMIS "You can disagree with His decisions, but that doesn't mean He doesn't exist." Lets not go there for your sake. You and every other Christian do not posses any evidence just like the Greeks do not poses any evidence for the existence of Zeus. So, until I see the evidence you win. "And, who are we as people to decide that His choices are wrong?" Might makes right. you keep reverting back to this. "In a Godless world, the strongest opinion wins." And we fix those problems.
Whether or not I like Oprah (I don't particularly like her shows) has nothing to do with what she believes. I also "deny the deity of Christ" (meaning I dismiss the claims of the bible), which doesn't mean I necessarily like Oprah's shows. But what I find most disturbing is the notion that we should like or dislike someone based on what religion they practice. I can't think of anything more odious and close minded... except maybe Paul Washer.
@MrNoelJMIS "With a Christian worldview, there is always clear right and wrong, irrespective of the opinions of flawed men. That is why true morality can't exist without God's existence." Two questions I have for you. The first on is, do Christians reject the idea of morality being subjective because they know that God would be found guilty on various accounts? Infanticide, genocide, murder, rape, and other things that God either commanded or condoned indirectly. My second question is this,
@MrNoelJMIS "Because that's how sick we are." Helping someone and being curious without a religion to teach us how sinful we are is sick? "In the end, we do need to know that there will be consequences for our actions in order to do the right thing." So, in your view a person like me who doesn't believe in your God needs to be judged because I didn't believe in Jesus, but I lived my life while trying to be courteous and respectful to others? A man rapes and kills a girl, but goes to heaven
@MrNoelJMIS driving Job into the ground and even mocking Job because he is not almighty. The story of Job gives the most detailed description of God's character I've ever seen. If you want to talk about that in an entirely new discussion, I will be happy to discuss that book and how it ties into God character. All in all, I think all I have heard from you sir is the failed primitive doctrine of "might makes right." Because God is God and i'm human what he says goes and that's primitive.
@MrNoelJMIS "What if they don't?" That would be their choice wouldn't it? "I doubt these impoverished people will ever be able to return the favor." Well that's the point of giving isn't it? I don't expect anything in return, but from a theists perspective you have to convert if giving food and clean water is going to continue. "and remember a SECULAR humanist can't believe in Karma or any other supernatural reason for good to happen to you." I don't and I agree with you.
@cheetoz64 I have nothing against people serving other people. I think its very noble that this man and his congregation are going around and giving and serving. However, the reason why their serving other people is very different from a secular humanist like myself. When I serve I don't do it because I think people are going to burn in hell for sins committed by a person in a garden. When I serve I don't make people sit down and listen to a sermon for an hour before I feed them. Your thoughts.
@MrNoelJMIS "Do we not look to human judges for the law?" Sure we do and your point being what? Whatever a judge decides can be appealed, but in your version of justice no one can repeal a decision made by your God. How are we to know what is moral and just if there is only one judge deciding everything? And this judge just so happens to not have anyone above him. If we have natural flaws then they are a consequence of your God who screwed up everything. Failure after failure after failure.
@MrNoelJMIS "He already explained HIS reason." Which was what? And the LORD said unto Satan, "Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil? and still he holdeth fast his integrity, although thou movedst me against him, to destroy him without cause." What was the reason before this? I love how you say, "this statement really means" Interpreting it how you will huh?
really people go to church to have this question answered? WOW. Not is it wrong that God would answer my prayers and not the prayers of starving children in Africa.
Not much emphasis on Oprah, but the point is made very well that God is no respecter of persons. Maybe a better title could be given, but I am sure it attracted a few people. I hope they watched the whole video.
@MrNoelJMIS "God was INCITED to allow this to happen" It also means provoked. Love is not provoked. God is provoked. God is not love according to the bible. God also says and you failed to notice that he ruined him without any reason. God is saying this and I don't write the book.
no Jesus made that quite clear. he teaches just the opposite of buddha that we are sinners and we are no longer in a right relation with God and because of our wrong sinning nature we can't ever be good enough (because good enough is perfection) so he bore the punishment and if we accept the gift and devote our lives to him we can be in a good relation
@MrNoelJMIS "If you read Job, you know that God allowed the Devil to take from Job to prove that his commitment to God was NOT based on the ample blessings in his life, but on the personal relationship they had." I'm sorry sir, but if you read Job you'll find that God was "incited" (more on this word and why it doesn't belong in the bible later.) to "ruin" Job without any reason or cause. Not for the reason you just stated. I don't write the book, sir.
every other religion is based on, everything for your own profit, everything for your own good. That is why people dont choose to follow Jesus. Jesus King of kings has humbled himself and served us, even to this day. I forgot who said this quote but it goes like this. "God created men, now men are trying to return the favor." see my point? people are saying, ok I want a God who is ok with me being super rich and not care about the poor, even in Christianity people do this.
@MrNoelJMIS "I'm sorry, where do you get that our natural flaws come from God?" Oh did some other God create the universe? I'm a little confused. I thought the one who created everything and created all the rules and created the mechanisms for man to fall would at least share some responsibility. I guess Christians have a different view on this and are willing to defend their God at all cost when it comes to accountability.
@MrNoelJMIS "somehow our deeds can make us like God." Oh boy if you read the homicidal rampages God went on in the OT then our deeds are nothing in comparison to his, but as I said earlier Christians are willing and ready to defend the horrendous nature of God at all costs. Adam and Eve had no idea what eating of the fruit would do to the world. If God had explained what would be the consequence of eating the fruit, I don't think they would have eaten from the tree. But who knows its all silly.
@MrNoelJMIS because he asks for forgiveness, but i get to go to hell because I lived my life and tried to be courteous and respectful to others? The problem with this is that you actually believe this should happen to me and others like me. A person could rape and kill and plunder and destroy everything in their path, and can go to heaven right before they die, but I go to hell for what? Not believing? I know you can't see how sick this is and forgive my acerbic tone, but oh my gosh.
@MrNoelJMIS "That's what I think, but if there is NO accountability for your actions, there is no reason under secular humanism to do good- give selflessly" Sorry I took so long to respond. I would to address the issue of accountability. Why do I need to be held accountable for my actions when I am following the law and being pleasant to others while on i'm this earth? Why does a third party (God) need to be involved when i'm helping someone in need.
@MrNoelJMIS "God gave this world system to the devil to tempt and corrupt after the fall- nothing is guaranteed to make sense or be fair ON EARTH." WOW OK.
@MrNoelJMIS "I do think you should keep your mind open to the possibility...what if you're wrong?" Pascal's wager I see. Obviously when someone preached to you they didn't provide you with any evidence or maybe they did. There is no evidence for the flood or the tower of babel confusing tongues or any of that nonsense and there isn't any evidence for the earth standing still for a day either and yet despite all this you still believe? There must be a neurological disorder at work here.
@MrNoelJMIS is what is commanded by God moral because its moral or is it moral because God has commanded it to be so? In other words if we can't be moral without God and he is the moral law giver so to speak then if God himself commanded you to kill babies would you do it? Now, naturally you would say, "Oh God wouldn't do that." But he has when you read the bible and that's my point, if God commanded it would you do it? If yes how are you more moral than me even with God on your side?
@MrNoelJMIS "Actually many very intelligent philosophers and scientists have shown the incredible logic behind a belief in the Christian God. Check out C.S. Lewis, William Lane Craig, Ravi Zacharias, John Lennox just to name a few. It's not a foolish belief- it just takes an admission of our place in the universe." Yeah they present no evidence. It very much is a foolish belief. Your telling someone that if they don't believe as you do they will burn, how is that not foolish and sick?
Really? I'd love to hear the refutations. His arguments I've heard are VERY straight-forward, and generally unchallenged. Also, so what if he is a creationist? So are the others I listed, and this conversation is not about the origins of all things, but the validity of belief in God.
Whenever I listen to Chan, I am challenged. He causes me to look at my own life. In a nation full of prosperity gospel, new gospel churches, Chan stands firm on God's word and truth.
So true.
absolutely. He makes me uncomfortable, in a good way.
don't show favoritism amongst pastors
So true!

Such a piercing message, but so sweet at the same time!

It doesn't mean we can't like them [I assume], but we shouldn't respect them, or value them more than any other human being just because of their social status. It was more of a critical thinking question.
Example: Princess Di fits the scripture in Revelation 18:7 There is a passage somewhere in the Bible that fits us all.
I reckon this is one of the most, if not the most pertinent message for our precious global church in this century! Man I love Christ, I love the Church and I love the instructions and gifts God has given her to live as to glorify Him. Father help us to live so that you can use us to make a change around us?
Earth is not a globe
Praise Almighty God for all things good. That list is endless and just happens to include Francis Chan, his family and his church. Wow...has it really been 3 years since the last post? Well, I guess this kind of message just never gets old!
Thank you for uploading this message. The title doesn't fit, but the message is challenging.
Loved it... Thank you for confirming, what I knew the lord was saying to me!!!
For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.
I LOVE this!!
to those calling francis a false teacher leading those to hell, i guess u forgot about the part where ONLY GOD CAN JUDGE and francis preaches the love of jesus christ. he interprets the bible like all preachers . we are human. interpret for yourself but don't call a child of GOD a false teacher
IF you would read ALL the bible.. you would learn that we are to call out False teachers, Call out the Wolves in sheep's clothing.
@D Mason:
And how many of us has read every single verses in the bible and understood every single words we read which will enable us to call out false teacher?
You or me could be called false teacher just because someone "mis-interpret" the bible. It is always in my believe that there is not a single person who can interpret the bible perfectly and there is no one "smart" enough or holy enough to be able to judge that someone else is mis interpreting the bible.
I guess what I am saying is, if you think that a teaching is not right, then lets just walk away from it. Do you ever feel like the other believes/religion is right? My guess is no, you don't believe they are the right teaching. But do you go up to their religious leader and start calling them false teachers? My guess is no, you don't do that, but instead you leave them alone and maybe, just maybe, you will occasionally pray for them or maybe you don't even bother praying for them, I don't know, I guess only you know :)
So lets just leave the judging to someone else.
@ Calvin Parsley:
How are you living your life? are you living a life as a born again person glorifying God's name?
@@roins8899 I couldn't have said it better myself.
Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.
all out of unconditional love for us even though we are not even overwhelmingly good.
This is what church should be all about, where the church goes out and meet the need of the poor. And while in church, you can ask questions, an interactive service.
Ahh! It played Future of Forestry in the beginning! I love Future of Forestry!
Amen Francis
Thanks for sharing. Got an idea to take my grandchildren and visit one of this refuge camps to show them the state of our world. learn them how good we have it, and maybe stir up my kids to live for others instead of live a materealistic self focused life. God Bless
SO TRUE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And a group from our Church is down there right now.
PRAISE GOD FOR FRANSIS CHAN!
Amen! I’ve felt rejected at church just like everywhere else
@MrNoelJMIS "If I want to steal something because I need it to live, is that morally wrong?"
I'm glad you asked this because my friends and I get in arguments about this.
The end 10mins really spoken to me.
@MrNoelJMIS "what is good?"
Well from a secular perspective a morally right action does the following,
1. preserves one's autonomy.
Nice!
actually we can't even take that.
Conviction!!! Honestly, if Francis came and sat next to me I wouldn't be able to concentrate... Help me Jesus.
so true..
@MrNoelJMIS "We always need a judge to decide what is right, and I choose the Creator of everything because I trust He knows best what to do! I'll get into that later."
So, as I said earlier in my previous post, you subscribe to the primitive doctrine of "might makes right." Because God is God and can't be challenged therefore what he says goes.
Come to Colima, Mexico to serve. :-)
Very Much So! :) You're a fan, too?
buddha teaches that if you follow the eightfold path to a point the the many sins you do make are just ignored.
Under "Natural Law" we are at the mercy of the masses- without omnipotence or omniscience, who have clearly made far too many self-centered decisions."
The point of being a parent is allowing your children to make the best possible choices on their own without the guidance or help of a parent. God is like a parent that never goes away and doesn't allow you to make your own decisions which is silly and wrong.
@MrNoelJMIS "Are any wants/desires immoral?"
I would say this, as long as they don't infringe on the autonomy on others and create detriment to society. However, you might ask what about committing adultery? True its well within a person's autonomy to commit adultery however, going outside ones marriage to have sex without consent is immoral. I'm basing this on the foundation of treat others as yourself.
@MrNoelJMIS "If we desire not to be in God's presence, He gives us our desire."
However, he doesn't leave it there does he? He will send those who don't love him to hell to live where they choke and scream and cry forever and ever till the end of time. But he loves you!!!!!
Loved the sermon, but is that the correct title? I think it should be treat Everyone equally.
All have fallen short..."
God is infinite and in his wisdom huh? So in his infinite wisdom he created people knowing that they would fall and go to hell? Some loving parent.
@MrNoelJMIS I'm sorry I would love to continue this conversation, but I worked all day. I will respond.
@MrNoelJMIS "Well I suppose one could take that section- from Job Two- out of context and be confused"
That's usually the response I get from most Christians when God himself said he ruined Job without any reason or cause and he also admitted that he was incited to ruin Job. You keep reverting back to Job loving God but that not what the story is talking about and even Job realizes that when he questions God justice not his power.
........ THE ANSWER TO THE OPRAH QUESTION IS ----->...... someone leave reply to me below...and put time.please..
You would think someone would do this by now.
It is not about Oprah, it is about how many ppl treat celebrities vs say a homeless person. God does not want us to treat them differently, but rather to love everyone equally. God loves everyone just where they are right now.
30:50 is the Oprah comment
@MrNoelJMIS "this statement really means that Job had given God no reason to be punished...like he was undeserving of the things that happened to him. Make sense?"
uh duh. God had no reason to ruin Job just like you said.
considering they lived at entirely different times with different names, and different goals...and completely different beliefs
no...not really
@MrNoelJMIS "You can disagree with His decisions, but that doesn't mean He doesn't exist."
Lets not go there for your sake. You and every other Christian do not posses any evidence just like the Greeks do not poses any evidence for the existence of Zeus. So, until I see the evidence you win.
"And, who are we as people to decide that His choices are wrong?"
Might makes right. you keep reverting back to this.
"In a Godless world, the strongest opinion wins."
And we fix those problems.
That is why true morality can't exist without God's existence."
Two questions I have for you. The first on is, do Christians reject the idea of morality being subjective because they know that God would be found guilty on various accounts? Infanticide, genocide, murder, rape, and other things that God either commanded or condoned indirectly.
My second question is this,
Jesus loves you
@surshot56 who's job?
@MrNoelJMIS "Because that's how sick we are."
Helping someone and being curious without a religion to teach us how sinful we are is sick?
"In the end, we do need to know that there will be consequences for our actions in order to do the right thing."
So, in your view a person like me who doesn't believe in your God needs to be judged because I didn't believe in Jesus, but I lived my life while trying to be courteous and respectful to others? A man rapes and kills a girl, but goes to heaven
@MrNoelJMIS driving Job into the ground and even mocking Job because he is not almighty. The story of Job gives the most detailed description of God's character I've ever seen. If you want to talk about that in an entirely new discussion, I will be happy to discuss that book and how it ties into God character. All in all, I think all I have heard from you sir is the failed primitive doctrine of "might makes right." Because God is God and i'm human what he says goes and that's primitive.
@MrNoelJMIS "What if they don't?"
That would be their choice wouldn't it?
"I doubt these impoverished people will ever be able to return the favor."
Well that's the point of giving isn't it? I don't expect anything in return, but from a theists perspective you have to convert if giving food and clean water is going to continue.
"and remember a SECULAR humanist can't believe in Karma or any other supernatural reason for good to happen to you."
I don't and I agree with you.
@MrNoelJMIS "Do we not look to human judges for the law?"
Sure we do and your point being what? Whatever a judge decides can be appealed, but in your version of justice no one can repeal a decision made by your God. How are we to know what is moral and just if there is only one judge deciding everything? And this judge just so happens to not have anyone above him. If we have natural flaws then they are a consequence of your God who screwed up everything. Failure after failure after failure.
@MrNoelJMIS "This is the reason man exists- to love and magnify God."
And if you don't into the frying pan you go huh? LOL.
@MrNoelJMIS "He already explained HIS reason."
Which was what? And the LORD said unto Satan, "Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil? and still he holdeth fast his integrity, although thou movedst me against him, to destroy him without cause."
What was the reason before this? I love how you say, "this statement really means" Interpreting it how you will huh?
So, what's he say about Oprah? That's why I came here.
really people go to church to have this question answered? WOW. Not is it wrong that God would answer my prayers and not the prayers of starving children in Africa.
Not much emphasis on Oprah, but the point is made very well that God is no respecter of persons. Maybe a better title could be given, but I am sure it attracted a few people. I hope they watched the whole video.
Don't try to embarrass us away from religion. We know very well that our faith is not futile and our reason for hope is not unreasonable.
@surshot56 the way i see things is..god gives life, and god has the right to take away life
only he knows when our time is up
@MrNoelJMIS "God was INCITED to allow this to happen"
It also means provoked.
@MrNoelJMIS "If you read Job, you know that God allowed the Devil to take from Job to prove that his commitment to God was NOT based on the ample blessings in his life, but on the personal relationship they had."
I'm sorry sir, but if you read Job you'll find that God was "incited" (more on this word and why it doesn't belong in the bible later.) to "ruin" Job without any reason or cause. Not for the reason you just stated. I don't write the book, sir.
You need to read the newspaper and think about your comment. The paper is filled with depavatity.
change the title of this please
every other religion is based on, everything for your own profit, everything for your own good.
@MrNoelJMIS "I'm sorry, where do you get that our natural flaws come from God?"
Oh did some other God create the universe? I'm a little confused. I thought the one who created everything and created all the rules and created the mechanisms for man to fall would at least share some responsibility. I guess Christians have a different view on this and are willing to defend their God at all cost when it comes to accountability.
pray to the lord jebus chrirts
So like, what's with the title?
@MrNoelJMIS "somehow our deeds can make us like God."
Oh boy if you read the homicidal rampages God went on in the OT then our deeds are nothing in comparison to his, but as I said earlier Christians are willing and ready to defend the horrendous nature of God at all costs. Adam and Eve had no idea what eating of the fruit would do to the world. If God had explained what would be the consequence of eating the fruit, I don't think they would have eaten from the tree. But who knows its all silly.
There is no evidence for any of this, but this is funny. You people know more about the afterlife than you do this life, lol.
@MrNoelJMIS "That's what I think, but if there is NO accountability for your actions, there is no reason under secular humanism to do good- give selflessly"
Sorry I took so long to respond. I would to address the issue of accountability. Why do I need to be held accountable for my actions when I am following the law and being pleasant to others while on i'm this earth?
Why does a third party (God) need to be involved when i'm helping someone in need.
@MrNoelJMIS "God gave this world system to the devil to tempt and corrupt after the fall- nothing is guaranteed to make sense or be fair ON EARTH."
WOW OK.
@MrNoelJMIS "I do think you should keep your mind open to the possibility...what if you're wrong?"
Pascal's wager I see.
@MrNoelJMIS because I would want someone to help me.
It's not a foolish belief- it just takes an admission of our place in the universe."
Yeah they present no evidence.
