I you imagine that long ago, in an age undreamed of, Nakano (before learning he's Immortal) was a wizard who befriended a Cimmerian named Conan, it makes the movie seem slightly richer. Slightly.
I'm a fan of both Michael Ironside and Mario van Peebles, but someone really needed to tell them that there is only one Kurgan. It seems like in the sequels the villain tries very hard to take on Kurgans persona. Being reckless, sadistic and hillarious at the same time was Clancy Browns ingenious portrayal. It was completely original and should not have been copied.

IF YOU DIDN'T GET IT... Nakano tricked Kane into killing him on HOLY GROUND! that's why he wanted the highlander out of there and gave him time to run and not get caught in the curse/punishment of the GODS!!!
Hard to tell what people are mad abvout the most, the fact that the sequal to Highlander said the immortals were actually aliens or the fact the last Highlander movie said the same exact thing and titled it " the source". I think for us, the phrase " there can be only one" pertains to the one highlander movie we all conside was the only one they got right the first time.
Its about the ANNUNAKI and most hated the alien aspect because it was closer to the truth. Kind of funny to me. People hate the truth if it is not what they wanted. See the so called black race is despised by many governments and leaders because they are the direct descendents of the ANNUNAKI. They spliced their genetic and gave the world many races. Most those races hate them and now deny they are the SOURCE. This is real life.
I agree with you 100 percent on that, there can be only one Kurgan. I wish they'd at l;east make an HBO series based upon his life, could call it Kurgan Rising, but he'd have to exactly emulate Clancy....nothing less will do.

I haven't even finished 2/3 of it yet. Also I think the work print of this film is better in areas than compared with the theatrical version. For one, Kain doesn't teleport into NYC. Seriously how the hell is that ability tied to the power of illusion? Also the Kurgan two issue miniseries aside from showing his origin it also explains his mad on for Macleod and connects Highlander 3 and the series together in an okay way. Not perfect, but it does the job.
Rumor had it that they hired some punky looking guys to get killed by Kane and one of the crew found them in an alley doing drugs and talking of plans to kidnap Mario Van Peebles
True, I often use my Connor Macloed Kitana at night for practice, but against another sword it'd end up as short order scrap metal. I often use Pakistani steel full tang swords as pruning instruments, scares the hell out of the neighbors but it saves on electricity.
Highlander movies really could’ve been something amazing for all of us. Too bad we all ended up getting garbage after garbage. Don’t even get me started on “The Source”
*"there can only be one"* ensuring that only the strongest and most capable lead the tribe of immortals, other wise they grow weak and feeble, i wonder when faced with the decision of growing gracefully old and forgotten about or hatefully remembered youthfully for decapitating another immortal which will this generation choose?
lol, true...though even Kurgan did belong to another family as a child before circumstances made him have to live with an abusive step dad, whome he had to kill later on. Some dudes from Turkey are pretty dark, but not by much. Could have been part of a roaming caravan from some place in Africa before matuirty. Macleod seems like one of the few that got to age 30 before being banished.
If anyone wants to watch the Highlander movies and have them make sense then follow this order. -Highlander -Highlander 3 -Highlander Endgame Highlander 1 is of course the first so it makes sense to watch it plus it's the best film in the series by my option. After that watch Highlander 3. That's right completely skip Highlander 2. Christopher Lambert even said Highlander 3 is the direct sequel to Highlander 1. Then Highlander Endgame. This is a good way to end the series. I know there's Highlander The Source but I think it completely suck, even more than Highlander 2.
The series and Endgame can fit with the 1 and 3 if you mentally ignore any references to The Gathering. Kurgan and Kane were just powerful Immortals that he had showdowns with, he was never The One, nor did he ever think he was.
The series has a similar ret-con, as Ramirez and the Kurgan are mentioned in the series by name a few times. Still, it probably makes sense to think of it as two different "universes". In one universe Highlander 1 and 3 make sense together, then i fyou prefer you can either ignore number 2 or consider it to be a sequel to 3. How did he resurrect Ramirez? Maybe with Nakano's power via Kane? Also, in the series Cassandra has minor telepathy, consistent with the movie "Magic", which she tried to use on Kronos, but he was too strong for it. So in the pure movie universe, imagine that the series doesn't exist at all, but in the series universe, the movies do exist, they've just been errata'd a bit, namely Connor and the Kurgan aren't the last two and just assume they may have been the last two of a certain group of immortals, for example.
No matter what Lambert wants to think, there is so many reasons why "Highlander III: The Sorcerer" can't be a direct sequel to the "Highlander". No-no-no-no. If you want an ultimate and clear "Highlander" experience, watch just first, or, from this matter, the one and original. And give yourself a favour: ignore all this money milking abominations, that came after, including bloody series and it's shameful offspring bastards, like "Endgame" or "The Source". Or... inject the full dose of poison: watch them all, including cartoon series an anime. This is your life after all. )))
Chronologically/retcon- *Highlander. *Highlander 3 (Connor finds out that there is another evil immortal that has survived, as so the Game has not yet ended). *Highlander the series pilot episode (The 1st episode states that the Gathering is occurring, and Connor shows up to defeat yet another evil immortal). *Highlander Raven series (A piss poor series spinoff). *Highlander Endgame (Connor has now given up the Game and gives his head to his friend). *Highlander Source (This takes place not long into the future after Endgame, since Joe, a normal human, hasn't really aged much since he was last shown in the series. This movie is the worst of all of them). *Highlander 2 (This movie can follow after Highlander 1 and 3. The only way for it to follow after The Source is if you discard the idea that Connor lost his head in Endgame and the ending of the Source never happened or wasn't the actual Prize). *Highlander Vengeance (Takes place in 2187. This follows another McLeod who's sole journey is for revenge against an evil immortal. It makes no references to past films, other than the main character being from the same clan as Connor). *Highlander Animated series (This takes place way, way, way in the future, during the dark times. Connor returns in the pilot episode, where he and other immortals swear to stop playing the Game. An evil immortal decides against the truce, kills Connor, and many years later a new McLeod rises to stop him. Connor's mentor from the original Highlander has a counterpart in this series, who serves as a mentor for the new Highlander).
Highlander III works as a sequel. Everything about it does. Connor killed the Kurgan, won the Prize. He planned to live happily ever after with Heather (was that her name?) who was revealed to have later died in a car accident. That was explained in III. Some years later, the evil immortal Kane wakes from a state of inactivity, and so the Game is continued till one of them receives the Prize. The only continuity error is that its implied Connor can't have kids, even though at the end of Highlander being able to have children was apart of the Prize. However, he may have only assumed this.
Also throw in a few red shirts from Star Trek ( just for amusement) then Ramirez gets a super quickening so powerful it blows up the Earth...then he wakes up as James Bond, throws out his vodka martini and swears against eating Taco Bell for dinner ever again.
mine niether, and one of them's an ex-cop. which reminds me.... Sometime soon, I'll have to go on the roof with my ninja bo and cut back their tree that keeps scraping the roof everytime it grows back.
Hmmmm.....sometimes if they temper it too much that happens. I managed to break a titanium sword with the Toledo sword i resurrected, but then it's the weilder that does that moreoeve than the blade...plus titanium is kind of brittle. Kurgan replica probably just meant for show anyway.
The series sort of explains this. "The Game" actually has no rules, and there is no good end. there is nothing to enforce the "holy ground" rule and there is nothing to enforce the "1vs1" rule. If two or more "good" Immortals are the only ones left alive, then the best possible outcome is the both manage to never piss one another off, and they live for a while, and then more evil Immortals are born. Eventually the "good guys" could all be killed by chance or catastrophe.
There is actually a force in this that enforced the no fighting on holy ground. When MacLeod and Kane fought in that shrine to budha MacLeod's sword shattered. It was a warning to stop and even kane backed down in fear. The only other time immortals tested this was at a temple in pompey on the day mt vesuvius errupted.
As far as a source of immortals altogether though, ( hate to admit it) but them being said they're aliens seems to be the only suitable explaination. If they are making a new revamped Highlander ( like the rumors say) I bet ten to one they'll either screw it up storywise or claim they're aliens again. I like almost anything they come up with ( except The Source) and can't help but see each movie as a cool twist on the original, but they never seem to keep things straight for once.
Mario Van Peebles; the "Savior" of the film! Apparently, the original Bad Guy just upped and left dropping them all in the shit! Christopher Lambert foned his old mate Mario (the both starred in Fortress) n he popped down n saved the day! Not a bad film to be fair as it's not as Si-Fi as the 2nd one was! For In The End: "There Can Be Only One"! 🗡
@UNA SIB The Kurgan and Kane may not have liked each other but I think they had a sort of mutual respect for one another due to their reputations and taste for brutality and sadism.
They said they both wrote it....a better ending would be if Ramirez popped out of the light and decapitated everybody, then yelled " I told all you shtheads before, there can only be one" then made Connor and The Kurgan clean up all the bodies before making them decapitate each other. Would have been weird, but wayyy better. The true origin of Immortals, Sean Connery's talent agency. In truth, back in 1986 that was really the only thing that made people watch the first one.
After movie one, if you wish for a sequal it'd be far better to make one up yourself. After seeing all the others, each of us has had to deal with the grief this stopry line has taken. Sadly, the only ones that makes sense are the "theatrical releases" of movies 1-2, and thats not counting the 2-3 screw ups storyline wise they made in Highlander 2.
o and they said it was the one from the moive i think they said they no a guy that was involved with it so they said i have 2 swords from the real movie and these weird looking ninja turtle looking things from the moive and a sword from the lord of the ring real moive with the stand from the real moive and the real director chair from the highlander idk thats what they said :\
Highlander is one of them films that should not be touched. The youth of today would not appreciate it. It came at a time were it was all about the Showa Scotsman playing an Egyptian yes but it was Sean Connery!! Women play male parts in theatres don’t they. And The soundtrack by Queen and Michael Keamon made the film Immortal. The story has holes in it and it would be very hard to explain it that’s why the follow ups were such a mess. Just leave it as it is it’s a classic that shouldn’t be tampered with
i dont know these rich people that my dad knows they gave him buch of stuff and they told us about the sword they gave it to us cause there son did not want it any more and theirs also a lord of the rind sword and plac to hold the sword dont know how to spell the word plac :( i might make a video on it if you curious cheack it out
Perhaps the biggest joke of all is the fact that if an Immortal somehow becomes the last one, his "prize" is that he gets to....become...mortal...again... Accident? Hardly. That's how "The Quickening" ended, and it's also how "The Source" ended. Although The Source has plot loopholes, because Methos is definitely still alive, as are about 20 of Duncan's Ex-girlfriends...
For the record, I liked the Highlander TV Series, but I didn't like the way the writers did The Watchers Guild. The Watchers in the Highlander universe didn't practice sorcery and they were NO telepathic Watchers who can sense immortals, but The Watchers from the Buffy universe CAN. Also, they should've made Joe Dawson as MacLeod's watcher practicing sorcery just like Buffy's watcher Niles. The guy looks like Merlin for peace's sake. That's my major complaint about the show. -R78
eh...I blame the broadsword. It was too damn heavy to begin with, and too much guard on the handle just gets in the way. Plus that Sgt. Hartman guy from Full Metal Jacket did a show about how broadswords mathced up to katanas. The katana was not only faster ( two handed built for speed) it penetrated better and cut through solid objects with greatest of ease. The last strike the Kurgan did looked more like a suicide action on his part. Probably figured it was best to move before Macleod did.
All the Highlander movies could have been good with more work done on them. If sequel not good improve on next one. The series was good too with great storylines but unlike the movies, the immortals in series were not as strong. Mario was entertaining too.
Producers were doing too much coke when they made this. Somehow, we're "all" supposed to forget about Highlander 2 and accept Mario Van Peebles as better the Kurgan ( which will never happen). Kurgan would have ripped this idiot's head off and walked away, not wanting to dirty up his sword.
Now I know why I really have no desire to see any of the Highlander movies after the first one!! This is Lame! Mario sounds like a dip shit trying to imitate the Kurgan from the first movie lol
I you imagine that long ago, in an age undreamed of, Nakano (before learning he's Immortal) was a wizard who befriended a Cimmerian named Conan, it makes the movie seem slightly richer. Slightly.

Wow! That was... odd.
Foolish samurai!!!!!
body piercing dates back milennia and kane is meant to be turkish.
@RTG2000 No, you do.
Nice notto...
No shit!!! IDK wth they where thinking getting involved in the piece of trash...
writers with too much money screw up all our lives.
Kane was just a Kurgan wannabe
he's dead too ? dammit, why do the good ones always have to die ?
Highlander I was great, but these sequels sucked big time.
Como faso pra acha ele filme
For the record, I liked the Highlander TV Series, but I didn't like the way the writers did The Watchers Guild. The Watchers in the Highlander universe didn't practice sorcery and they were NO telepathic Watchers who can sense immortals, but The Watchers from the Buffy universe CAN. Also, they should've made Joe Dawson as MacLeod's watcher practicing sorcery just like Buffy's watcher Niles. The guy looks like Merlin for peace's sake. That's my major complaint about the show.

* Giles.
@swastikausa I thought he was Mongolian.
I have the Marto Toledo version of the Kurgan's sword.
Not good steel, really...
I have Kanes sword. Awesome look but not well made. Tsuba is defective
Quero assistir agora o lixeiro imortal 3 o Highlander em português traduzido
eh...I blame the broadsword. Probably figured it was best to move before Macleod did.
is it me or does Kane have nipple rings on his armor? 🤡
All the Highlander movies could have been good with more work done on them. If sequel not good improve on next one. The series was good too with great storylines but unlike the movies, the immortals in series were not as strong. Mario was entertaining too.
That's how I want to die.
@trelokamenos...exactly my friend...worst series of sequels ever made-they ruined a perfectly good original movie!
#highlander_quickening
Now I know why I really have no desire to see any of the Highlander movies after the first one!! This is Lame! Mario sounds like a dip shit trying to imitate the Kurgan from the first movie lol
One of the most tragic scenes in cinema history
