I find it refreshing that he admitted he made a mistake hiring Littrell. Hopefully, he can correct that mistake with a quality hire, preferably from an SEC school, so we can build an SEC-caliber offense in year two to match our elite defense going into year two.
I know it sounds crazy, but if I were Brent, I'd at least try to set up a call or even a quick meeting with Joe Brady. He may have it made right now with the Bills, but that doesn't mean he wouldn't at least consider an offer to be the OC at OU, especially if we pay him more which we can. That would be a legitimate hire to take us to the next level.
How refreshing is that? Coach V is awesome and he is the man that can find a great OC. Who knows best what Offenses causes him the most issues? He does!
Idk about that. My opinion he's the best running back they have but Barnes was doing good before he got injured. Hopefully they find a way give both guys playing time when Barnes is healthy.
@jbcool9178 Barnes had a decent game against Maine and Ol'Miss in two years. His best game came against Florida State in 2022 with 100yds. Watch how X does against LSU. He is hard to bring down. Imho Barnes doesn't have the shiftyness or balance. He falls on first contact. I admit he does run hard but usually right into the back of our O-lineman.
How awesome is that for BV to just say what everyone already knows,” I missed it.” The last guy (who shall not be spoken of) would have never admitted to making a mistake.
Said it from day one. BV is a winner and will do what it takes in order to do that. I’ve also always said it’s never perfect and a coaches value isn’t based on what he does wrong but what he does after he makes a mistake is what’s important because EVERY coach makes a mistake at some point especially one that is a new HC even if he has been one of the best coordinators in the last 25 years, being a HC is different and it’s tough. I’ll die with this guys and I’m still confused on why it’s so hard for people to accept those things and that just because BV made a mistake with Seth, doesn’t mean he isn’t capable or is the wrong guy. You want every hire to be right? Saban never made the perfect hire 100% of the time so how can you expect BV to as a new coach? He won’t make that mistake twice and that’s the important thing. I have zero doubt BV will get it to where we want it to be. Every journey is different and we just need to enjoy the journey we are on with BV at the helm.
Why Arbuckle? Washington State’s done nothing of note and they play soft competition. His offenses routinely crumble when they play any team with a semi-competent defense.
Just based on Coach BV's defense and the Alabama game Coach Venables deserves that we see all this through. I would rather have an elite defense and a mid-pack offense then a high flying off. and a garbage D.
It’s an EASY blame, but only a small part of the reality. JJF has done a better job with more production, BUT 1) the OL is far better now than 4-5 games ago, and 2) X is a better back in finding creases and attacking holes than our other RBs (other than Tatum who can’t hold onto the ball). Seth couldn’t run, run, and run some more because low ypc just make you punt, punt, and punt some more. 3) Far fewer turnovers yields far more success.
So, maybe that means that Venables should probably not pick the next OC? Team needs more X Robinsons that want to be there and play their butts off like the 2000 team.
This is just me, but I really hope the new OC doesn't keep DeMarco. Is there any evidence that he is a good running backs coach? Being good at something doesn't always equal being good at teaching others to be good at it.
@@seanb.4712in five years, what has he done to hang his hat on? He’s recruited well, but where has the development been? Every week it’s the same questions… where is this guy? Why isn’t this guy playing? Why has this guy disappeared? I love Demarco, but he’s left a lot to be desired as a RB coach
@donnycoblentz3940 I think you forget Ramondre Stevens, Kennedy Brooks and Eric Gray all of whom were drafted by the NFL. Two are still playing. I agree past two years have been tough with Sawchuk and Barnes just in jury prone. That being said I see nothing that leads me to believe they will be drafted. Tatum needs to stop fumbling but X Robinson is going to be a star.
@seanb.4712 Steven’s, Brooks, and Gray all play one year and some change under Demarco… these guys wasn’t raw when he got there… like I said, I love Demarco, but he’s had a lot of questions over the years, I really don’t see him here much longer
OU should offer a course on how bad Seth was. It doesn't make sense. No one was bothered about that hire because Seth has a good track record, and then he put out the most putrid offense I have ever seen. How is it possible to make a 5-star QB look that bad? How is it possible that Xavier Robinson couldn't see the field until late in the season? I don't think JJF is that good. If he ends up leaving OU, I doubt he will get an OC job in the Power 4.
Littrell needed to be canned but pinning it all on Littrell isn’t reality. He was running Lebby’s scheme and forced to use Lebby’s overrated QB recruit. Too many cooks in the kitchen on offense so an outside hire should be good in this situation to take full control.
Jesse you know I love you brother, and I mean this in the nicest way possible... but I need you to stop shaving!!! Grow your beard out for the next 30 years you grow too good of a beard to shave it.
He's admitting something that everybody knows!!!! How does it take nuts to own up to what we all know? Either own up to it or lie and say Stoops made me do it??? Just tell the obvious truth!!
Wow is this a real comment from a head coach? Incredibly honest.

Love the honesty there from BV
Man...as much as this is absolutely true. BV hiring Seth for OC was definitely a mistake. But I still hate it for Seth

Incredible honesty, love for BV
X has earned the starting RB PERIOD! To start anyone else is ridiculous.

@dillonflanagan7237 yes I agree with Sawchuk #3.
Dude has some stones on him. Gotta respect it. Boomer.
Venables has more integrity in his pinky than Lincoln has in his whole body.
Thats for sure!
I heard that same quote on Tulsa King. 😂

I’d much rather have JJF
Lmao@@oklahomasooner7686
Arbuckle would be a disaster. Low floor and low Ceiling hire.
Why? You have no clue if it would a great hire or not. What evidence do you have? 🤦🏾♂️
Just based on Coach BV's defense and the Alabama game Coach Venables deserves that we see all this through. I would rather have an elite defense and a mid-pack offense then a high flying off. and a garbage D.
Javonte Barnes was the only player I could say on offense that actually wanted to win when we went on that losing streak. He’s the number 1 guy
Most people knew it was a miss when he made the decision. OU needs a big swing at OC. OU doesn’t need a homer or a OC by committee.
jesse, never shave again, you sir, are meant for a glorious ginger beard

Great Man Husband Father Coach.
Now can he say letting Cale Gundy go was a huge mistake!!
Yall don't know who Quentin Griffin is. LOL
I grew up watching him and remember quite vividly, actually!
Don’t love throwing a former player under the bus like that. It is obvious and didn’t need to be said.
Life is tough. It comes at you hard. It happens.
Is it true that Seth Littrell never actually called plays before?
