Vamavarti shankh which we call as Padam shankh is loud in my view
Because it can be blown easily, we can vary pitch during blowing shankh, other shankh than padam shankh also blow loud each shankh has its own sound based on structure of the shankh .

There are 2 sounds sharp and loud .
Both sound can go long distance.
Through regular practice you can learn art.
For sharp sound small to medium size is good.
For loud sound little big size is used.
