It looks like the goal for ZZZ is to provide a simple combat system similar to a lot of recent fighting games for players to get into the action rpg/hack-and-slash genre! How do you guys feel about that? Link to full article here: geekculture.co/geek-interview-hoyoverse-zenless-zone-zero-street-fighter/
Soooooo glad I found you bro, let me say this homie, you are a BREATH OF FRESH AIR. I’m hearing so much lately that ZZZ will fail and doom post the hell out of the game. I’ve even been told to not make content on it cause the game will fail. But screw that with people like you in the ZZZ community I’m now confident we can make a great community for the game bro. Thx for giving me the courage to go all in on ZZZ and man I really really look forward to seeing you grow more and more and wish you nothing but the best. Keep up the amazing content homie and see you JULY 4th
Glad I could inspire you. Always got to realize that the internet doesn't truly know what failing is for a gaming company. The game will be fine and garner its own player base. If it's smaller than Genshin and HSR, so what? I just care about enjoying the game. Hope you have fun on release!
@@KetteiThe7th_remember people doomposted hsr before it even released And now its an sucses I say ignore those bozo's they are not fans they are salty people that played genshin and got mad at hoyo becouse they didnt get atention from the genshin devs
Not the whole side of internet is doomposting ZZZ, only a small part of community like wuwa shills/hoyo haters/cbt2 mindset players create the loudest voice, meanwhile the rest of general audience r clueless what this game is and excited to try it out. Just be in the right side of the internet and u r fine
I definitely should've read that article when it dropped cause he's a fighting game player & fan!? Maaaan he could be doing so much with this game right now.
I agree that the game doesn't need to be complex, but it should embrace DEPTH. I think they should aim for a low skill floor, but have a higher skill celling for most characters, you can already see they are taking steps in this regard when looking at characters with tougher execution like Solider 11. I'm holding out hope!
@@SolessSolXS I agree, I think though I have some favourites, I will end up gravitating to high skill ceiling characters, I also think characters might end up having bits of tech for them individually, and I think these can take many forms such as Nicole having a weird early charge cancel which sent her ball in the air like a mortar (though that’s closer to a feature then anything.) I just think that having someone experienced at fighting games have such a big role in this game’s development \ direction, means that we are going to hopefully get more things like this. Oh, and love your content by the way, I am so damn starved for ZZZ. 🙏
Not sure if i should consider myself a fighting game fans since i never really got into it for competitive gameplay, but i do like fighting games for its character design, movement animation, and of course, the backstory for each character. So maybe that's what he consider when he said about inspiration to fighting games, but idk. Maybe i'm wrong in that sense. Anyway, congrats on 1K subs.
BROOO😭you didn't have to do this but thank you! Pretty similar to what you said it seems like the core concepts of fighting games and the culture of them is what inspired how he wanted ZZZ to be which is really cool to see! I don't really compete in them either but I do love learning and improving at them for my own fun and progression.
There is a difference between Character Action and Hack n’ Slash. I like DMC because it makes me feel like a badass demon slayer from the very beginning. Buying more moves makes me feel like I’m mastering the craft. RPG elements that affects the dmg completely undermines skill. Tekken has tier lists of effort to reward in picking mains for a reason. You want your favourite characters to stay relevant. Gacha games as a genre completely undermines rewarding skill. They WANT you to pull and F2P don’t fill their pockets. I feel like the entire article is just smoke and mirrors at this point.
3:09 I still don't get how street fighters would relate to ZZZ, it's more like a HI3 combat with persona time-events system ? Either way I'm not complaining 👏
I think from what I'm getting its more about how Street Fighter 6 made strong tutorial content digestible for new players to understand the genre better so they took that concept to make ZZZ's combat just as easy to understand
There is one thing they forgot. Those genres have fixed dmg. DMC Peak of Combat sucked balls because of this. I would rather watch paint dry than pretend I’m not carried by stats in HoYo games. HoYo makes sure to balance the game in the way that substats are more important than equipment. WuWa has balanced it so substats isn’t as important as having the right pieces. The latter has easier endgame since substats can be put as something those who like ‘sharpening’ characters can do if they want. HoYo is too greedy like that sometimes. Either way, it complete nonsense to think RPG elements can pair well with fighting game elements. It just makes you realise how useless those combat elements are compared to the stats.
Interesting take. I don't completely agree especially with the Wuwa take because from what I've experienced they feel like a very similar formula to Hoyo when it comes to the stats of the gear. The difference imo is that grinding for said gear to make the perfect build for your character seems to be longer in Wuwa due to the Echo drop rates when farming and the luck you need to get the right pieces. I think the RPG elements isn't what makes Hoyo games specifically easier in this case but the difficulty of the AI in comparison. If Wuwa world boss and end-game content weren't as punishing as they are, they would have a similar issue because no matter what gearing will always allow you to clear faster which still exists in Wuwa but the AI difficulty makes it more interesting in the long run.
Smaller dev team in comparison to the other games so their reusing assets as much as they have isn't too surprising knowing that but it does hurt the game because of how frequently they are used, especially on some of the 4-stars. it does look like some of the newer characters are being given more unique animations tho so only time well tell if they reuse less.
Don't mean to be the guy to mention WuWa, but this mentality of "we have to tone it down to appeal to a more mainstream audience" with Hoyoverse is why I'm gonna end up sticking with Wuthering over this game, the complexity in WuWa combat and the nuances and freedom of how you can play each character is what made me fall in love with it and just isn't something I can find in a Hoyoverse game...imma still try ZZZ but I'm pretty sure I already know where my heart and wallet lie lol
They don't have to but it's their choice and the results for them are true. This is the same for the fighting game genre recently as well. A lot of fighting games compared to the past have been toned down for the mainstream audience because they have been viewed as "too difficult" and the result of that is that the fighting game genre has a bigger audience than ever before. Now does everyone likes it? No, but there is some truth to that thought process. I mentioned before (can't remember if I said it in this video or another), ZZZ still has to strike a better balance for it. This is what I think WuWa does better because WuWa combat is still pretty simple but has a bit more layers to it. I think it just doesn't matter as much though because I still see the general player base not exploring Wuwa's combat which to me shows that a lot of players like the idea of depth in concept but they generally won't strive to learn the execution if they don't need to which is fine. That's why I'll still play Wuwa for that alone but everything else about the game for me doesn't really scratch an itch. Everything about ZZZ for me sparks my interest but the combat can still see large improvements!
@SolessSolXS thanks for the reply, hey just FYI if there's anywhere I'm going to for ZZZ content it's your channel +1 sub. I can respect that take, I'd be lying if I said ZZZ looked terrible it looks cool it's just I already know Hoyo too well to think it'll have the creativity, complexity, and freedom in combat that I'm looking for, for example the ability to parry an enemy attack with any aspect of your kit like in WW as a pose to only being able to do it with one specific button like in ZZZ. I'm more of a Monster Hunter player than a fighting games player and one of my favorite weapons in the series is the Charge Blade and in the weapons kit it has different gaurd points which allow you to guard a monster attack without actually needing to press gaurd and that adds a ton of complexity and mastery to the weapon, all that to say the ability to parry any parryable attack with almost any part of your kit in WuWa reminds me of that complexity and mastery that l love alot but that's one niche example I've been thinking about lately lol 😅
