Thank you for putting these videos up. I am an aspiring Market Gardener / Farmer in Florida with 4.5 acres and will be creating a channel similar to yours once we have the funds and building knowledge to start full time. Excellent material and very helpful. God Bless!
+HurricanePrepper Thanks for tuning in. I haven't posted a video in a long time since I am so busy in my shop. But I hope to get some more videos upon shortly. Keep getting inspiration from any source. God Bless
also buy a 30" rake since your beds are that, it'll save you a lot of time time, you can put rubber hose on the tines to perfectly mark your 3 rows of garlic and drag it all the way down your bed, this way if you sway to the left or right, all 3 rows sway left or right the same amount, this is important for using hand or wheel hoes when cultivating, makes it way faster. you can also take the same rake, re-space the rubber tubes to match your desired plant spacing of 4-6 inches, and come from the side, creating a tic tac toe grid, now wherever the row marks intersect with the plant spacing side marks, that is where you plant. And imo, the ideal tool for planting onion sets and garlic is a dibber, and if you don't have one you can make one by sharpening the end of a stick of adequate diameter. Mulch your garlic with grass and leaves from a lawnmower bag (should be available since fall planting is ideal). Or better yet, wood chips. The garlic is strong and will pop right through next spring (as soon as outside temps are 15-20F). The mulch will keep the weeds down probably long enough for the july harvest, you may slide through without having to weed. I bought my rake at bcsearthtools.com , they sell dibbers too.
don't muscle the gear shifter, will ultimately damage something...feather the clutch while applying light pressure on the shifter, and it will pop into the gear you're pushing for.
I have a Power Harrow and after looking at your Video I’m wondering if there is some way to put some adjustable width and height tines behind it to put the grooves in as you go.
Hi Dave. Wondering how market farming is working out for you. We're about to embark on the same journey. My wife and I are shifting gears and moving from Montreal to an 8 acre farm we bought near Sussex NB. We've been reading Fortier's manifesto and gobbling up information on market farming where we can. Wondering where you got your Grillo in the maritimes? Have you found market farming to be successful for you? Are you selling strictly to farmer's markets or have you been part of/running a CSA as well? Any advice you can give to first time market farmers in the maritimes? All the best.

Lower you rpm before changing gears and feather the clutch. Till in a low gear, no rush
