The 2nd about half good, half EHH. The 3rd never grabbed me. Not a good trajectory. He had a 4-album deal with RCA, and his career might have ended right then... except, he decided to CHANGE his style. His next single was "Take Me Home, Country Roads". RCA did not even want to promote it. He BEGGED them to let him tour the country to make appearances on talk shows and radio stations. That's where I first saw him, in the summer of 1971 on a TV station in Houston. I bought the 45. That 4th album blew the first one out of the water. "JOHN DENVER"-- had finally "arrived". What I find very interesting is... Bruce Springsteen's early career had a very-similar trajectory. He, too, had a 4-album deal, and the first 3 went nowhere. Then he did... "BORN TO RUN". @@jacodasilva6695 uh huh and who does the Klan endorse and vote for today?
...What the hell is this song about? It's clearly about 3rd-wave feminism. So, they are time travelers! So what is it? Just completely random absurdist comedy? Except they claim that "liberals don't have jobs", so that kinda prevents it from being comedy. What the hell is it?!
It's Aged well, that's for sure it's a great song.
You’re thinking wayyy too hard about it. It’s about the kkk, systemic racism, and the institutional bigotry present in the US of A
It's a reminder that you're a retard and that you're too retarded to even realize.
Its funny because the KKK was Democrat. Every Jim Crow law was passed by Democrats. Oh wait, its not Democrats that are bad, its those "Southerners", hilarious. Good thing we made those Democrats give up their slaves, but they are still mad about.
This was back when reactionary white Southerners were a major constituent within the Democratic Party's coalition. Who do you suppose that demographic votes for today? If you don't know, try looking up electoral maps from 1960 to today.
Yes, the black vote turned democrat with LBJ's Civil Rights Act. And here we are, about 55 years later, and every metric about black quality of life is worse today than in 1965. Literacy, poverty, single parenthood, you name it. But keep voting democrat!
@@demef758 It's almost like both parties are Right Wing and refuse to pass policies that help the poor or something.
@@demef758 So you like it better pre1965. With segregation. The Democratic Party with its CURRENT Policies, are better than the present day GOP.
Blacks actually started voting democrat with FDR.
I know John would have supported Trump all the way. Trump2020.....
I think you missed the point of this song
Why would a liberal environmentalist, anti-war folksinger like John Denver support Trump?
@@williamjameslehy1341 because he's making fun of liberals in this song?
It's amazing how these people are missing the blatantly obvious point lol
@@TheFigureKing he’s making fun of the KKK who tried to look cool and friendly, despite being literal murderers, he’s not making fun of the liberals
Hack in real life.
