Next thing you know, they'll be prioritizing catching murderers over people smoking weed! Where will it end? Won't somebody think about the children?!?!?

or NOT shooting people who don't have guns
Amen!! What IS this country coming to?!
Biden should point out the pragmatic side of this change in policy: we need all the workers we can get, especially in health care and food supply. And maybe, without being able to dangle the threat of calling “la migra” on undocumented workers, employers will need to pay them fairly and treat them with dignity.
I've always thought that immigration enforcement (especially in agriculture) was a shell game. ICE and DHS catch and deport a dozen or a hundred people, but the businesses that hire them go on. If the Republicans truly wanted to rid the country of people without legal immigration status, then they should go after the employers. Make the penalties for hiring people without clean paper so high that the practice stops. But that hasn't happened in my lifetime. The business owners want people who are vulnerable to threats.
I was gonna say the same concerning your economic view point. America is short of workers because a lot of the former work force realized during covid (being Essential) that better paths lead to better futures.
kids do u know what is the #1 expanse in growing food Labor by bout 5 to 1 over all other expanses. Start paying field workers a living wage and u will have $10m tomatoes $20 heads of lettuce an orange will cost u 8 bucks Try a gal of milk at $10. We ay so little for food b/c we pay the ppl who bring it to us so little
@@frederickbays405 yes😢 sadly that's true. We have starved our own farmers off the land. The majority of our farms now are huge and draw huge government subsidies to survive. We've gotten out of balance in so many ways. How to fix it is beyond me but saying a living wage for any one on the bottom is wrong is even worse. I grew up on the farm and later dairy farmed. Some years no matter how hard a body worked or how good your decisions were it cost more to feed your animals than you would get at market. Yet we import beef. We send our jobs overseas. Just to have cheap goods in our stores. We've cheated ourselves out of a good life.

Also MAGA supporters- “whys my lettuce so expensive?!?”
…..2020….the year the world found out how ignorant many Americans are….
Put a damn leash on I.C.E. The agency was missused. As a privatized police force.
#AbolishICE
💯
I want something around the neck of ICE but it's not a leash. That agency needs to go, especially after they basically became Trump's secret police.
Create a new immigration agency, one that isn't stacked with guns to the heavens, and doesn't decide its own agenda.
Definitely
It should never have been created in the first place. Yet another Republican expansion of big government power, despite how much they claim to hate it.
Seems like a smart, calculated move.
As much as I dislike the November 2020 cut off, I can't deny it's politically brilliant.
@@BeauoftheFifthColumn True; the second the Republican party begins attempting to reject this in earnest, they might be in for one hell of a rude awakening. Also, it's a great diversion; Republicans will be too busy argueing and fighting about this 'Talking Point' to pay too much attention to what else Biden is doing.
Plus the Republican party would've come up with talking points one way or another, no matter how little they were grounded in reality. Might as well bait them into lapping up a talking point that's easier to blow up than a watermelon full of gunpowder.
@@BeauoftheFifthColumn Yes, it is. He could in theory have cut off at Jan 19th or even Jan 5th, 2021 (before Warnock/Ossoff elections) but that would give Republicans more room to claim people were streaming here after the election because they knew Biden & the Dems would let them in. The pre-election cutoff still allows for plenty of law-abiding recent immigrants to be officially processed & made permanent citizens, as they deserve.
I live in a part of Toronto that is stuffed to the gills with immigrants of one sort or another. I can hear a dozen different languages just in my apartment building. I am an old white broad on disability. I am constantly being helped by people who aren't white, who can barely speak English....and who WORK!!!! Guess what!!! The income taxes that come off of their pay checks pays for my groceries and medical bills!!! And my rent!!!! The lady who comes to wrap my horribly wounded, dripping legs several times a week ( lymphorrea, result of lymphedema, ask Mrs. Beau) is from The Islands. The lady who comes to help me wash , and does some dishes a couple of times a week, she's from The Islands. The ladies who come to do some cleaning, they're from The Islands.
The infectious diseases doctor that keeps an eye on my legs is from the Middle East. The wound care specialist nurse I go to in the hospital is from Russia, my own GP is from India. My terrified heart doctor, bless him, is from the Middle East as well.
And the US is worried that some folks from outside the US want to come in and work their butts off? Sheeeeeesh. Send them up here!
Divine bless you for this comment Sandra!

Blessings to you.
i grew up in silicon valley and we had lots and lots of immigrants. my encounters with them were great for the most part and i enjoyed their different cuisines and they were always so helpful at work. i welcome new people from other nations. it's a wonderful experience since i can't travel.
🇨🇦very nice. I knew a sharp old fella in his 90's, he was thrilled with his care home. He loved the Phillipine ladies who worked there and they loved him. They care about old folks in their culture and it shows. I won't forget his happy face when describing his daily bath routine with the ladies! I loved that guy, RIP.
Giving the Republicans another talking point doesn't matter. They'd argue about what day of the week it is if it could be used to denigrate Biden. They don't tell the truth, it's an obvious agenda. Giving them a this particular talking point is no worse than any other.
Exactly.
If Pelosi said that the sky is blue …

You know what I call folks that just want to complain? Hint: starts with a "b", rhymes with "itch".
Exactly how I see retrumplicans who still follow trump, not honest people.

One thing about old dogs, is they tend to know a lot of tricks. This is an encouraging one.

Another thing about old dogs is not to think of them as toothless. Many still have quite a few good bites left. :)
Let us not forget Melania Trumps parents who received a backdoor naturalization courtesy of the Donald.
Yes. Chain migration. At the exact same time Trump was bemoaning the ills of immigrants bringing their extended families here after they become citizens, he and his wife were hypocritically doing that very thing for her and her parents.
But she doesn't care, do you. Be Best n'shit, and watch her f up the Rose Garden and scare the hell out of Christmas with all those red trees. Anti-bullying was her thing, since 'she was the most bullied person in the world' according to her....
That is the most I had to say about her since the beginning when I remarked about how the Right lost their s*it over Michelle's bare arms, and then had nothing to say about all those pictures of Melania that the Conald leaked out. ('Conald' was a typo, but I decided to leave it. lol). And I did remark about her and her husband's family history regarding immigration.
When Melania arrived here, she was working illegally, but that's okay too---because hypocrisy. She got her permanent residency under the Einstein visa via Donald (and there's a joke in their somewhere).
Donald's father was an anchor baby (he was almost born on the ship over here), Donald's mother's first two or three children were anchor babies. Melania had hers a couple of months before she became a citizen. Trump's first three children were anchor babies, too.
I use the term 'anchor babies' because Trump said that he would use the term when he talked about such things----pertaining only to other people, of course.

@@crystalgiddens7276 Poetry does not need rhyme or meter. To require such would be comparable to requiring that all paintings be created with latex, and in a shade of blue to be considered art. @@Mt-ue9qz I would like to suggest changing that to ALL HUMANS.
That way there is no ambuguity.
In the 80s and 90s in South Florida, immigration went very well. Many Haitians came into the country, worked diligently and succeeded. They endured a grueling trip to get here, they had community support and then they became American citizens. Everyone won.
I wonder, without any change in personnel, or really leadership, how much does a memo really impact how these people behave. We know we have a culture problem with Police in this country, I wager the same culture problem exists in DHS.
The system just starts with the officers. Once apprehended the immigrant had to face a judge who must follow the laws. Or just my wishful thinking!! 🤷🏽♀️

In 2011, (I think) Alabama got up on it's hind legs and kicked all the immigrants that were picking their crops, out of Alabama.
