Thank you for help been trying to find way to turn my IJN Kongo into an American warship but couldn’t get superstructure to work with the kit your guide on styrene was easy to understand and now I believe I’ll be able to do what I need to accomplish my goal thank you sir
This stuff is so awesome, really informative introduction to this stuff too. I have to get my hands on weld on. But I just bought my first pack of sheets lol so excited

Hi, what is a good proper thickness of styrene to build a 1/48 "O" scale building? I am a first time styrene building maker here. I have the windows and doors already.
How strong is the material? I need a light workable material that doesn't flex. A little flex for larger pieces is okay, but it will need to support perhaps up to 10lbs.
You can get it in pretty heavy gauge but even in large sheets it's going to flex. I'm not sure the exact application you're needing it for, I'm thinking 10lbs would be on the top end it could support. Have you thought about a polycarbonate material like Lexan?
@@TandemCTelevision I need to make a platform to place several sensors on. Chances are there will be two layers at least. The platform will have to be perhaps 14in long and 10in wide. It'll be going on a rc car that I'll have drive autonomously to collect data. I'll have to take a look into the other material you mentioned. Is it easily workable? As in not needing fancy tools to cut it down and easily drill able to put screws through. Thanks for the response. Kinda rare that someone responds on a video posted 1yr+ ago.

What is the best way to bond polystyrene tubes together
Good info brother,, like Always

That 3D pen was sweet and it will add so much to the look and it is nice and fast! Can you link us the one that you used?
Hey Troi, amzn.to/2ILb2ak I also put it in the description.
You got another sub! 👍
Thank you!
Been thinking about about those 3D pens, haven't seen one work. Looks like they do well in these applications! Big thanks for sharing that one!!
They're a bit of a novelty, but they're relatively cheap, so not a bad tool to have in the box.
What a good thickness for 1/10 scale stuff???
How do you bent it if you don't want a 90 or 45 degree angle ?
3d pen is cool, never seen one👍
It's basically a print nozzle in pen form. You can kind of print in 3 dimensions.

Very cool, don't be scared, there's only one way to learn.
What kind of sanding block do you use? The mini one looks excellent for small projects.
It's from Gator Finishing Products, I know you can get them on Amazon, but I think I've also found them at Autozone.
Great info. My Question is when I try to get some. No body knows what I mean. What are some brand names I could ask for.
Evergreen is the most popular I would say. evergreenscalemodels.com/
What are the best site to find all the kind of styrene like the diamond plate and texture ones ?
www.micromark.com/Ho-Sheets-Diamond-Plate-2
Where do you buy your sheets from I used to buy it but can't remember the company, who sells that pen to do simulated welds
I usually buy mine the same place I buy everything... Amazon. lol The pen I use is the 3Doodler Create+, but there's many brands.

I'm not overly familiar with building for O scale, but .060 is very common, .040 may be better for such a small scale.
@@TandemCTelevision Hey, thanks for the quick reply. Just what I needed to know. I will go with .40 to start and may be easier to cut.

where on earth can you buy this ?
Most hobby shops should have it, if not, there's always Amazon. Look for the Evergreen brand.
what is the thickness of the piece at 1:50? thank you
Hey shorts, I had to go back and take a look at the video. I believe it was .060, but I'm not positive. I think that's correct.
@@TandemCTelevision thank you!
can i use scissors to cut styrene
The thinner stuff for sure, it may become difficult the heavier stock you go to.
And who is this young fellow hosting this episode?
lol You didn't know I was 22 did you?
A 3D pen? Never even heard of that.
Basically a nozzle and heater element in pen form, they're not too expensive and worth checking out.
Here's a link if you want to check it out. amzn.to/2ILb2ak
