You're absolutely right. I acknowledged this mistake in the Skem First group where it was originally distributed, but forgot to mention it on here. My bad!
The price of Skem train station sucks up the whole of the UK train infrastructure budget - it won't happen, the land will be sold off and another property developer agency will flood it with cheap-material, overpriced houses. What will happen is the new town centre, why do you think Skem police station is being refurbished? No mention of Nye bevan replacement leisure centre either, which is conveniently replacing yet another aged building within the new town centre foundation.
Unfortunately the number of people who say they would like to see a rail line is far greater than the numbers who would actually use it . People say about the demise of our high streets and blame everyone but themselves . It's because the general public are not shopping on our high streets : that's the problem . I fear that a railway / station at Skelmersdale would have to be subsidised by all those not using it .
I use Upholland all the time it’s brilliant 15 mins to Liverpool or 10 mins to Wigan which connects to the main west coast main line, I’ve personally gotten a train from London to Skem with only one switch
The line from Ormskirk to Rainford through Skem closed in 1956 due to poor use, 7 years before Beeching finished the job with all the others.

I grew up in skem and moved to south Oxfordshire 3 years ago when I was 15, Skem is a special place.
