I had the same pistol. Got slide bite everytime. Tried left and right handed. THEN, I had problems that required sending it back TWICE to Taurus.
The whole capacity "thing" is mute in a true "self-defense" AWAY from your home!.
Those capacity people are "obsessed" with GUN FIGHT!
      NO!!!

I chose a Sig P365. It is striker fired. It has a one piece trigger hinged at the top which is the most contaminant resistant configuration. It has a manual trigger safety. 9 MM seems to be the best overall compromise for concealed carry and it is the most available. I modified the magazines to hold 14 rds and I carry 14+1. The P365 grip module was just too small for my XL sized hands so I installed the taller P365XL grip module. The bottom of the grip module and magazine floorplate uncomfortably dug into my hand, so I sanded a radius into the sharp areas and it now fits my hand like a glove. My fingers are so long that my straight index finger is flush with the muzzle end of the gun. My fingers completely wrap around the grip module and touch the base of my thumb. There is NO empty space on the grip module. Nobody makes pistol to fit my XL size hands, so I make do the best that I can. But my hand strength is enough that I can see the grip module visibly deform when I grip it tightly. I extended the magazine release button to a more normal height so that I do NOT need to rotate the pistol in my hand to actuate the magazine release. I have no issues swapping magazines blindfolded. I cut the manual trigger safety lever off of the right side to better fit my pocket holster. But I can still actuate the left side manual trigger safety lever with my left thumb or left forefinger if I ever need to. The longer P365XL will fit with my carry method so I plan to buy one this spring and relegate the shorter P365 to pocket carry. I have nearly all of the available spare parts which are mostly interchangeable. I started shooting rifles at age 12 and shotguns at age 13. At 14 I had my gun safety certificate and could legally hunt without adult supervision. But I NEVER thought that I would need a handgun until the 2020 Mostly Peaceful Murderapolis protests. Having NEVER shot a handgun before, by the 4th magazine my grouping was already down to 3-3/4" at 7 yards. I had NO problem controlling the P365. After a few minor modifications I'm now a happy camper.

Well...pretty inclusive list of attributes. Very good. I like your reasoning about striker fired semi autos. Simple to operate and a wide range of sizes and shapes. A friend of mine says: Beware of the man with only one gun, because he probably knows how to use it. Like many "gun guys" I have more than I need. I compare my collection to hammers. I have several claw hammers, a rubber hammer, a ball peen hammer, a dead blow hammer, a wooden mallet and a couple of small brass and nylon hammers. They are all hammers but designed for different purposes. I have 5 inch barrel competition guns, a few in the 4+ inch range and a few in the 3 + inch range. What I carry varies with the weather and clothing choices but they are all striker fired with no external safety so there is no difference to remember in operation. I carry appendix. I used to carry strong side OWB or sometimes IWB but after 2 back surgeries I can't carry in that position all day without suffering that night. I have found that appendix carry is comfortable, even with a larger pistol, and affords quicker access and control (no one can sneak up from behind and grab it). I also find that appendix carry conceals better than strong side carry. I'm also an RDS man. All my carry and competition guns have RDS on them. Keep up the good work.

I EDC a .45ACP Ed Brown Kobra Carry. I shoot Defensive Pistol competitions every month and practice a lot in between on my backyard range. In seven years, and untold thousands of rounds, it has never malfunctioned. It's accurate as hell and shoots a powerful cartridge I trust. I know the striker-fired plastic fantastic 9mms are all the rage, and some of them are good guns...but they're not for me. Been shooting the 1911 platform for over 50 years - and it is definitey second nature for me.

I have several guns and the Glock 17 is my ideal carry gun, I always list it on my permits, and it is a good fit, is reliable, it wasn't expensive, it is easy to break down and clean, it is upgradable, which I shall do once I get a job, and I just need a good leather holster(I'm not partial to plastic, or neoprene, or material like nylon weave. I do want a leather holster). I believe it is easily concealed. Easy to operate. For me that's what I will carry. I carried my Taurus 780 in .380 since I had a permit. So I carried it in my pocket. I will find the leather holster for my Glock 17 start carrying it. Priorities. Thanks for the Video!-Troy

The whole family carries Glock 9mm's. Magazine commonality, and the girls 11, and 14 can use it need be. We all train IDPA, and steel with Glock 44's so that's our routine. Yes plenty of better choices, but our needs are still met by what we use. My wife carries hers, and a backup in a sling bag. You can figure out why on your own. The Glock 44's are holding up pretty well to the 600 rnds each that they go through each month. Good enough.

I’m new to ccw thanks to Bruen. But not new to shooting. Something to consider is state restrictions particularly on ammunition and capacity. For example I’m in Nj and prohibited from hollow points and limited to 10 rounds. Plenty of legal soft tip hollow point ammunition but 10 rounds makes .45acp a better option if you can control it effectively

This was a great video, thank you! I always enjoy your videos, I feel like you and I think a lot alike on many things. For me, the decision process goes: reliability, caliber, shootability, and carryability. As far as caliber, it's tough because you have this list of attributes and and all calibers are some compromise within those attributes. 9mm is not my favorite, but I kind of grudgingly accept the capacity and affordability, plus it allows a smaller form factor gun. .45 it's actually my favorite, but the capacity, cost, and weight considerations edge it out. I wish there was something in between 9 mm, and .40 to be honest. .40 is actually a great caliber, but the high pressure makes it hard on the pistol and snappy. .357 Sig is a pretty good compromise, but good luck finding it. So for me, 9mm in 124+P is kind of what we have to work with. Another big decision maker, though, is that the gun has to be carryable. I see this with ladies especially, but it applies to everybody… if you're not willing to carry it all the time, the gun is worthless. That's why I don't recommend a Glock 19 a lot of times. Do I think it's a great pistol? Absolutely. Do I love it? Absolutely. Do I carry it all the time? No. It's still just a little too big and heavy. I have settled on the 43x for the most part. I do like revolvers, but they are bulky for the capacity, and I'm not a proponent of them for first time shooters (recoil is higher, and for snubbies especially , they are hard to hit with). Plus being left-handed, reloading is not as fast. Anyway, thanks again for another great video. It's a fun discussion all around! Happy Thanksgiving, and may the Lord bless you and yours abundantly!

Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours too Dan. These are some great thoughts on guns / calibers - 45 is great and leaves a big hole, lol. • @gunmonkey6545
    @gunmonkey6545 5 місяців тому +1

I agree that you pick the gun that best suits you, but I disagree with your reasons for choosing a striker semi over a revolver. I’m not suggesting that someone pick a revolver over a striker, just that the points that you made don’t ring true to me. I don’t think semis are lighter in general, I don’t think they are more simple to operate, and I definitely don’t think that they are more comfortable to carry. The only point you made that I agree with is capacity and the ease of reloading.
I carried a G19, G26, and a G42 as a pocket gun for a long time and they are not easier to carry and they all weigh more loaded than the two revolvers that I carry now.
Just an opinion from someone who carried both platforms religiously.

I'm a Glock fanboy. Carry custom G34 or G19, both Gen3, I designed and built myself. When I am venturing deep into bear country I often carry my factory G23 Gen3; sometimes converted to 357 SIG. I carry with ball or hard nose ammo, depending on caliber, for max penetration in a black bear. Sometimes I carry my G34 loaded with 124 grain NATO ball rounds in bear country. The NATO rounds are around 400 ft lbs at muzzle and average just over 1200fps. There is a 500 lbs plus bruin, that leaves sign yearly when it moves through my property, and 250-300 lb bears encountered often around my home. I'm always in bear country. State record black bear harvested 15 min away. Since my family and personal protection needs are different than most, due to daily circumstances and environment, my EDC weapons were chosen to provide the most flexibility they can afford, fill multiple roles, and provide both bear and human protection. The old G23 is often carried converted to 9mm when human threat is main concern. Same function, design, maintenance, in multiple calibers, with min investment.

My EDCs are a Kimber Ultra CDP II .45 ACP and a 1911ish Sig P938 in 9mm. No mistake you are a Glock Fanboy, but that’s OK, I’m a 1911 Fanboy. Just saying that you should not eliminate an entire segment or two of hand guns in your options.

I own several striker fired pistols. All are....(here comes the hate but dont judge it til you try it once realize youre in love and follow suit) All are made in turkey by Canik. all come with 2 mags from 15 round, 18 round & 20 round.
most can share mags (bonus). All have less than a 4lbs trigger. Most have a 90 degree break and such a tight reset without practice practice practice and even then ya still may hit twice fire fire land where expected b4 double lands in his shoulder or number 2 bad dudes chest. Set up to race out of the box... Im not a competitive shooter. Palmetto may think I am but no im not.Eats anything I feed it.From Range cr-ammo on. My goto is horneday critical duty 135 grain 9mm. We've all heard congress talk about it. It's the only 120 mm tank ammo that fits in a 9mm and turns the firearm into a tank called ironsides. Not that its a transformer but its more like a, ok its totally a transformer set on world domination of my living room. Bit of a nazi so I only fire the 120mm in oh shit moments. Like oh shit Blu thunder is firing at me or oh shit air wolf. Iron sides transform, and grab me some pop corn on the way back. Rare is all im saying. I hate pop corn in my teeth. So I stick with the other less war like 9mm ammo for home defense and to be totally safe I leave another 9 by the door with several Mags and a few war up targets so the bad guy doesnt feel ive not violated their feelings in any way. Trying to even out white privilege is all... My first 20 round mag is snap caps and a flashlight with dead cells Plus there is alway a sandwich and clod beer next to my wallet before hand. Even Steven... Hopefully they get a clean shot so I dont have to goto jail for premeditated murder of what the news future interview of his mother saying "he was a good kid never in trouble except for those times in the past that he has totally over come side he got out this morning to start his life over b4 his life was taken by that white supremacist who refused to turn on HBO after my son walked in through the broken window while wearing a bandana over his face to protect the nazi from covid". Figure im better off not making anymore waves while im trying to get a few hours sleep b4 work... But we're just bad from birth ya know

If budget is a problem, don't be afraid to buy police trade ins, you can get a quality pistol for 3 or 4 hundred that still has more than 90% of it's service life left.

Is it just me or is that definition of “gun control” a verb, not a noun?

Sad Thing Is That He Will Do All Of That Stuff And Then He Will Never Be In A Situation To Do Any Of That Stuff For Real.

Why is it THE GUN that saves your life or the lives of the ones you love, but it's NOT THE GUN when it takes the lives of the innocent? Instead, in that circumstance, you'll blame the user and claim a gun is just a tool as if it's not specifically designed to end lives. As a gun owner and supporter of the right to defend oneself, I recognize the importance to protect those freedoms, but the rhetoric on both sides is appalling.

@@orificium “It’s” not. If you paid any attention I specifically said, “the gun you may need to employ to save your life or the life of someone you love”. YOU do the saving with the tool. Just like the person does the killing with the gun / tool, but the liberal media never frames it that way.
