- The Royal Ballet's morning class in full, filmed as part of World Ballet Day 2016. Watch World Ballet Day 2016 in full: • Video
World Ballet Day was broadcast live across the globe on 4 October 2016
The now-annual live-stream saw 20 hours of non-stop filming from five of the world's top ballet companies including The Australian Ballet, Bolshoi Ballet, The Royal Ballet, The National Ballet of Canada and San Francisco Ballet.
This year, the stream was available to watch via Facebook Live and was the longest broadcast ever shown on the platform.
The day saw each company give insights into daily life for their dancers, featuring rehearsals, interviews and the ever-popular morning ballet class. This year's relay was presented by Gethin Jones and Darcey Bussell. - Розваги
53:47 IS NO ONE TALKING ABOUT THIS CUTE MOMENT WHER BEA DANCED IN HER OWN AND EVERYBODY SUPPORTED HER? THAT'S WHY I LOVE ROYAL❤
I love Bea so much, it's really sad she's not in the Royal Ballet anymore 😭❤️
@@bookswithlove8232 Why isn't she in the company anymore if I may ask?
@@Sofia-rl7ue She's in Stanford University now, in the computer science program
@@bookswithlove8232 Wow that is really impressive! Thank you for the information
Nous aussi parce qu'elle a compris qu'elle ne serait jamais nommé principal ... Bravo les Anglais
Why is watching ballet so satisfying
The guy in the blue onsie is my life goals
SMD 014 it’s Zenaida... she is nothing close to an elderly woman 😂 she was a principal dancer but has since retired
@SMD 014 Elderly woman? 😂 😂 😂 Zenaida Yanowsky? She can wear whatever she dang likes 😂
Your female dancers all look so incredibly healthy! So glad to see dancers that obviously eat well and often.
Melissa Hansen Being skinny doesn't mean they're healthy.
Oh shut up.
You forgot about men
Bruna Mandu they don’t look unhealthily skinny though they just look strong?
Bruna Mandu she didn’t say they all look skinny and healthy. Just heathy in general. I think everyone does too just off of their skin and complexion and good color. Idk. 🤷🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️ the men too.
this pianist is outstanding
33:28 that cuteness tho!!!
Aww, that was Marci! He's my favorite!
I love watching Brian's classes. His combinations are so graceful and elegant and there is such a feeling of creative energy, joy, and excitement in the studio. Bravo, Brian.
Can we please have less conversation during company class section this year during live streaming? Please allow us to enjoy the beautiful piano and appreciate the awesome dancers more
agree! agree! agree!
If you ant to hear another gret pianist look to Assaf Messerers classe in the bolshoi. Old but great!!!!!!
I love how Brian says thank you every so often. Seems like a really cool teacher to work with
Brian is constantly saying "Good, good, good"; I've never seen one of these dancers forget a move or need correction! Amazing.
goals
I love the teacher Brian Maloney. his teaching is very wonderful. I hope his class will be seen in the World Ballet Day 2017.
he has so much fun doing his job!
Ballet master Brian Maloney is very charismatic and inspiring Love his energy and obvious joy in his work.Must make such a difference to the company. His accent being an American who danced in France,I could listen to him giving the French terms ad nauseum. And yes of course Steven McRae is his usual brill self.Good luck to his wife for the impending sibling for Audrey Bluebell.
I just love the way he exales loudly, it makes you behind the screen breathe as thought you were dancing yourself !
I like hearing the French terms being pronounced well ;)
I could watch this all day....
Just for the record, we enjoy to watch the dancers dancing in full view, not so much in partial view.
I never get tired of watching these. These people are the epitome of athletic and grace. Love love it!!
probably complained about this the last time i watched this, but to cut away right before mr. mccrae is going to do barrel rolls is practically criminal.
Zenaida with the blue onesie is goals.
I find it unfair that they praised Elizabeth for dancing while pregnant, but practically shamed that other very pregnant girl for doing the same..:( weird, and sad.
also, Yasmin Naghdi is literally perfection
I'm still upset that we didn't get to see Steven Mcrae's barrels at the end 😭
Methinks there was version of this video with the barrels [in place of the interview about the "style" website]. If memory serves me well. Dommage!
Abigail-Melinda Bonares !!

I think I've cracked the missing pieces, although the camera crew seemed to positively avoid the dancers you've not been able to identify.
Man in all black on 1st row: former first soloist, Valeri Hristov. Lady in the corner on the same row: former first soloist Helen Crawford.
Last man on 2nd row: former soloist Tristan Dyer.
Fourth lady on 6th row: former Aud Jebsen Young Dancer Arianna Maldini.
And the first lady on 7th row is, I believe, former principal dancer and absolute legend, Leeanne Benjamin. Unless I really need to see an optometrist. ;-)
@@vikingballetnista7491 well oops those are some big names, can't believe I didnt recognize them. Thanks again for helping me find the missing pieces, really appreciate it!
@@mojovr5003 happy to help! Somebody should've made these lists ages ago, so thank you, too!
@@vikingballetnista7491 i've got another one over at WBD 2020 if you don't mind :)
@@mojovr5003 The dreaded face mask WBD class. Ok, I'll give it a go!
the combinations
and the music go perfectly together, which is the most important
McRae flawless as always
Yay, thank you for this! Don't ever stop giving this to us every year, we're grateful for it. What does a "ballet rehab specialist" do anyways? My footwork is never that smooth. Boo! 🙍🏻
A ballet rehab specialist works with dancers who are recovering from an injury.
artisticdiva1 thank you for explaining! You're awesome! 💕
Such an inspirational video for people that have just started doing ballet. Love the energy 😳
I love watching the class! just wish their was less commentary!!!
Not to be rude but the pregnant lady at 14:52 had me dying. Way to work girl!!!!
yes! she shamed me into pausing the video and doing my own modest barre which i was going to skip!
Isnt she beautiful ? I better marry a woman with such healthy lifestyle and mentality
beckywiththegood weave Mcrae's wife elizabeth
Fedor: That's right, you BETTER or you're a failure as a human being.
Charlotte I think she means the one that was doing a penche. XD The one in blue. She was ignored for the interview section but she is very pregnant too XD. Guys Alex doesn't mean the one in black! Click on this 14:52 but watch till 14:55 the OTHER girl is also 8 months pregnant and was doing a penche!
Haha the one in the penche not the passé XD. Both are AMAZING. But such a shame she didn't get an interview like Elizabeth even though she was right there! ;)
can't believe I watched all that 1 hour class video. It was so interesting and inpiring to see professinals warm up. I definitely learned a lot
It's great that you have included parts containing rehearsals with dancers from the different ranks in the company. I love to watch them besides the principals, who are constantly shown in clips during the year.
I just watched this class for the millionth time ☺️... I love the world ballet day classes and I'm looking forward for this date in 2020.
Everybody calm down !! i can do this too ... hold my beer
and 2 years have been passed
Finished yet?
I've been holding this beer for three years, will you please stop dancing, Tsar!
Still going? 😂
All these dancers are absolutely lovely to watch!
I wish I could watch morning class everyday! 😍
When I studied dance we always had live music. I took it for granted.
I love watching dancers Mark it!! With their hands!!
Excellent classes!
I can´t believe you cut out the last part for an interview =( Those amazing jumps and the free dancing ist the part I love the most
the teacher is also outstanding
Un bravo para esa compañía...historia,talento y excelencia....
I TOTALLY LOOOOOVE THIS!!!!!!
Cannot wait. Houston Ballet portion was amazing. Wish you had more of it!!
I love the teacher brian maloney!! I hope he will come back on October 2, 2018!! World Ballet Day 2018!!!!
oh thank you for this .....YOU HAVE BROUGHT ME TO TEARS!
I just watched "Romeo and Juliet Ballet " from Masterpiece Theater. Some of the dancers are credited from being at the Royal, so hear I am trying to locate them... lol. I never took much notice to Ballet but as I get older, I can definitely appreciate it more. Very hard work that requires years of dedication.
P.S. to anyone who has not watched Romeo and Juliet i highly recommend it.
My daughter and i enjoy to much to watch this videos!
Art in motion. Thank you for giving me this opportunity I otherwise would never have.
no comment needed for this!! i love thi studio, its floors are great
Wonderful class!!
I watch their body and then I look down and see mine and...😂😂😂
how elegant and beautiful their figure and moves are.
Love this!!!
So amazing!!!
1:05:57 Darcey says 'these are corps de ballet girls, they may do the odd solo role' whilst First Soloists Claire Calvert, Beatriz Stix-Brunell and Yasmin Naghdi are dancing!!! Don't be so patronising Darcey!
yes. that was pretty tasteless
I didn't find her remark patronizing. Darcey Bussell was probably not aware that they'd been promoted.
I've never seen better talent anywhere and I'd give anything to see them in real life
Love this
Just following this along with them confirms that this is what I want to do for the rest of my life. It was hard, and tiring, but I love it
Much gratitude:)
OMG! There is Eric Underwood! Love you, boy! 💙💙💙
This is where I want to dance someday 😍
Looks like a lot of fun - I'm gonna join a ballet class in the Fall!
I'm following along at home during the Covid-19 quarantine. Hello from California! :)
Me too! Every day. Thank god there are 6 or 7 or these :)
Watching them is the most satisfying thing ever. Also Zenaida's blue onsie is giving me life😂😂😂
But... Steven's barrels. =(
essas sequencias são parecidas com as que são utilizadas na minha aula de avançado, super amei...
This is my new therapy
I wish world ballet day were everyday...
This is so beautiful I could literally cry.
I wish I could take part in a professional dance class at least once in my life, eventhough I am not really good.
did not expect the royal ballet to be so lax, but yet so disciplined at the same time
Awesome.
deberían quedarse callados para poder apreciar la clase!!
I would have liked to see the barrels at the end😊😞
Omg 😲 this is so incredible when I. Was little I said to my mom I wannna be a ballerina when I grow up. This video was very inspirational. Gtld
Dieter. Nuhr Kabarett
The women all have their hair in such beautiful chignons, plaits and buns! It would be great to see some of the dancers doing their hair in the styles they would for warming up or rehearsing. Elegant and practical hairstyles for exercise or work are always useful to learn, especially from such high level athletes. Amazing dancing as always, thank you!
Olivia Cowley, a Soloist of The Royal Ballet, runs a blog which might be of interest - e.g. this post includes videos of several dancers preparing their hair www.ballet.style/video/2016/11/17/ballerina-bun
Brilliant! Many thanks for directing me to this!
The guy who nearly got killed at 1:09:20
I can’t stop rewatching that
I love how his friend move him out of the way hahahahhahahahahah
Matthew ball turns so well!
yea that was dumb to cut of Steven at the end. I wanted barrels!!!!!!!
Agreed. Who cares about ballet fashion when we could have seen barrels?
He is so handsome!!! Omg
Thanks so much for this!!! I just wanted to ask if the Royal Ballet will go on tour to Australia (Sydney, Melbourne etc)??? If so would it be this year or the next? Thanks a lot!
Pregnant dancers are incredible 😯
Who is the morning class teacher of World Ballet Day 2017? I want to see Brian Maloney again! His class is brilliant!!
ohh I'm so glad to see Fernando Montaño the Colombian 💛💙💗
Ah yes, company class. I was so lucky to have danced professionally even though I always bellyached at having to be at the studio by 9am. We did a ball-buster ballet class much like this one, and then a modern class. I always thought: aren't normal people just getting to work right now? However much I complained, I'd give anything just for one more year. The other day I realized it has been over 20 years since I retired. How I miss those days of my youth. Now I'm just an old fart who programs computers.
I read your comment, then glanced at your username. Almost choked on my coffee....;) Oh ya, getting older is hard work. lol
You're lucky to have a job at least after being a dancer, I wish I could learn how to program 😐
Fantastic dancer at 22.30 in the coral top!
She is Itziar Mendizabal www.roh.org.uk/people/itziar-mendizabal
Super, thanks ROH!
How do they memorize these routines after only hearing the instructions once?
It's really not the difficult part. One gets used to it and it is so much better and interesting than set class.
you get used to it. in fact i’ve had teachers that only say it and they only said once and expect you to know it
You need to focus it took me a long time for memorizing but I got it
Actually those might not be new routines. I could see people not even looking at him and doing the routines right after he finished assigning them. But it's absolutely mind-blowing to see how fast they catch on to what they have to do.
Beautiful... sorry what was that combination? 🤦♀️ so hard .. I’ve only been dancing for 3 years ... absolute beautiful 🩰
I have to say that it tickled me no end seeing the presenter walk through the dancers after his "interview",,, while dancers are all going en-dehors on everything he nonchalantly walks all turned in... LOL!
I love the teacher
Sorry, I don't want to be rude but all this conversation during class really messed up whoever was doing the class. The piano was not heard, only the interview, it's a shame that a class so beautiful and so well played was so hindered by this endless conversation. .
Wtf why did they cut off his barrels :(
I spy a Sarah Lamb on the far left 38:14. 💕👏
I love 😘😘😘
25:01 that leg! That technique! OMG!
教头好帅。。招式完美
Steven Mc Rae😍😍😍
The marathon analogy is a good one.
The commentary is a bit excessive!!!
indeed, towards the end Bussell is lengthily explaining that all the men want to outdo each other and do the highest jumps. That's silly. There are guys who jump big; there are guys who turn beautifully, there are wonderful partnering princes. It takes all kinds. A company with only high jumpers would not work. Similarly she says all the girls in the corps want to be soloists. That's just not true. Being a soloist takes a kind of personality and many dancers are happy not to stand there all alone.
emmanuel patterson You said it!
does anyone know from where the boys get buy their tights and what kind of tights they buy? especially the long colorful ones/ 40:41l
His wife is pregnant again?! Whoa.
XD Haha.
oh please tell me you are part of that dynasty Betsy Kirkland !
