I used this bat when I played ball in the 80's in High School - This was a solid bat and when you connected everyone at the ball park knew it - Sounded like the bat exploded !!! Great Memories
I’m 45 so this bat is a little before my time. I do remember swinging this in the late 80’s. Easton black magic from the 90’s is the bat that I remember most. 32-27 was ridiculous!
Thanks for the memories. I used this bat occasionally, but never quite liked it and preferred a Louisville Slugger bat instead. But to this day I vividly remember the first time seeing this. As a pitcher, the barrel looked humongous and if the batter could hit with power, it felt like they were giving Superman brass knuckles.
Hey Will love the channel! My son and I watch every video together. I used this exact bat (33/29) my freshman year. I believe it was purchased in 89. The Easton bat from the early 80s did not have the gray stripes. Keep up the great work!!
I'm restoring the end cap on my 35-31 green Easton from 80s...everyone who was strong enough to swing it, loved it...its nickname was the "green monster"
I've seen lots of old bats on this channel, but there is one that I remember well but haven't seen here - people called it the "ultralight" - it looks almost exactly like the B5 but instead of green it is maroon and instead of being drop-4, it's drop-5. That one and the Black Magic are the two I remember best.
The green Easton you have here, is actually an update in the later 1980's. The first original design had only green graphics, without the dark grey label. If I recall, the original was not the CU31 alloy
I am 55 and that 1980 Easton bat brings back a lot of memories . I have a smile on my face watching this video. It was the Bat I used all through high school . I used a different Easton bat .in college.
Nice! Love the retro bats fellas. I have an early 90s black magic from high school that’s a -3 (34-31). Used it a couple years before the -3 went into effect and used it until it too was banned because it was a 2 3/4 barrel. It was an absolute hammer. I pulled it out a few months back and hit with it and cracked the barrel on only a few swings. RIP Black Magic. I’ll never throw it away!! I always thought it was a weird size for the time it was made and the -4 is even stranger. Keep crackin fellas!!
This video was awesome. I had a smile on my face the whole video. Wow Great memories. I am 55 years old and that was the bat I used in high school and college. Thanks for posting this.
Old school Eastons without the grey, with the piece of electrical tape midway to show the limit where you could put pine tar - those were the best looking bats ever made, IMO.
I sat in the dugout once and watched Frank Thomas swing an original green Easton while at Auburn - he got badly fooled on a changeup, way out over his front foot, one handed, line drive over the fence at dead center, 400ft. Some guys have power.
Yesterday, at my daughter's middle school where I help coach softball, I found a B5T 33/29 laying on the ground. A teacher had brought it in thinking they could use it or she was going to throw it away. It's mine now. She gave it to me. I just need to find out the difference between the B5 you have and the B5T.
Glad to see you giving the green Easton some love! I used that exact bat in college (33/29). The bat you had was probably mid to late 80’s. They didn’t have the grey striping on them until then. Before that they were only green. I had an all green one until the weld on the knob broke in like ‘89. Easton replaced it under their warranty with one that was exactly like yours. I still have it and still use it in the cage with my boys. Funny that you added to the grip, back in the day I cut the grip off and replaced with one layer of tape and tar of course.
We had 2 Gold bats. When you swung them you could feel a plug or weight slide inside to the end. These were 2 piece bats. The knob would twist. They became illegal due to flying apart. Then we had Black label Louisville sluggers, Worth Thumpers and then the Green Easton in 2 grip sizes. I used a 34" with a 3/4 grip. Power alley hitting. Thanks for the nostalgia.
I had a green Easton Pro from the 80’s …. It started as a 33.5 and was a 33 after the knob had to be welded back on… it was hot and was 10 years old when I got it.
Ah yes that loud ping at the end really brings back childhood memories playing in the little bucks league as it was called in my area in 97-01 years lol
I played ball in the early 80’s in New England and used that same bat! 1970s aluminum bat technology was in its infancy and in High School I used a Spaulding 34 inch - 37 ounce bat. Hitting BP one day with the Easton increased bat speed and ball carry...the reason why it was so popular, I never went back to the heavy hunk of iron. Thanks for sharing, hearing that sound of the ball coming off that bat brought back some memories but I think I would have liked the BBCore technology when hitting balls in April on a cold brisk day. The grips back then were a thin rubber wrap and would be quite painful if you hit one down on the handle.
Still got mine. Actually split my first one in half during practice in high school. Legion coach happened to be there and he took it and got me a replacement. Good times!!
I've got this same exact bat in my garage - even the same size/weight. I also have a slightly newer version that I bought in '95 when I was 12 years old, CU31 Alloy. My favorite bats of all time.
Bought the same bat in 1987 and that thing helped me hit ropes! Even better was the CU31 alloy Easton in red. I called her Red Betty cause she was smoking hot.

Back then even in the College leagues most teams only had one or to Pitchers that that thew in the 90s consistently. So the bigger heavier familiar bat was my favorite.
I used a B5 34-30 in high school but an Easton H7 Howard's Western Steer 34-30 softball bat when I played softball in the summer. Both were great bats.
I have the older Green Easton without the graphics. 33.5”. Like another comment, cut the grip off and taped the handle for pine tar. When you connected it made the coolest sound. I love that bat.
