I've recently been researching 18th-century Venice, where Vivaldi lived. When I listen to Opus 6, my feelings for Vivaldi become stronger and stronger. From Suginami, Tokyo, where spring has come.
I am from the far east who is not familiar with western music, but Vivaldi music touches my heart immediatly;how sweet, simple, romantic but at the same time great and grandeur his music is.
This inspire me more of wanting to know the life of the man who wrote these celestial music. I shall be grateful if any one suggest any books about Vivaldi in English, thang you.
I'm not suggesting you a book about Vivaldi; but I'll give you a little list of masterpieces which I guess you'll love: op3 (estro armonico); Gloria; Sinfonia al santo sepolcro; Madrigalesco; op4 (la stravaganza) and op6, of course.
He wrote a lot of great music; but if you like this style, you can explore other italian masters of Baroque too: Albinoni, B. Marcello, Brescianello, Torelli Geminiani, and many others.
Ciao from Italy - RMd
Maya Tai Michael Talbot: Vivaldi. The standard Vivaldi biography. Cheers!
Nick Birkhead Vivaldi boring?! You better think and learn about music and music history before talking! If anything, Vivaldi and Boccherini are very similar in spirit and the way they express their musical ideas, so much so that their critics and fans react similarly to both of these great Italian composers! One could actually say that Boccherini is Vivaldi's great heir! And yes, I adore Vivaldi and I adore Boccherini!
See, and I always thought it was Boccherini who was the one who was kind of boring. Guess Maya will just have to decide for herself. :)
nice
Splendid works of Vivaldi. Makes you want to listen more and more.
Comfort and wonderfulness of Vivaldi’s music are an order of magnitude
This world is wonderful, and comfortable performances like this Vivaldi's music
It's up to you whether you realize it or not
Perfección , Vivaldi es divino !!
Sublime: varietà, controllo, virate improvvise, dolcezza sottese, melanconici richiami è la sintassi del genio. Vivaldi divino.
Beautiful like Alina
Bravo Mr Butterfield pour cette magnifique performance au violon En espérant que vous serez bientot de passage à Ottawa.
Vivaldi, la perfeccione in musica.
Why make a montage like this? Incomplete parts, fragments, etc. Why would you disfigure the audio?
Have you tried the new Sherlock Holmes story about discovery of Vivaldi's manuscripts - The Red Priest's Treasure Trove by Orlando Pearson on Kindle Direct Publishing.
A real eye opener and there's a great theory about Bach's Brandenburg concerti in the story as well
can you please give me the title of the film? or it s just a book? thank you in advance :)
This music takes you too long times ago. Very touching and dreamy.

Nice
Just perfect!!
This is so incredible. It was said, life not examined is not worth living. Similarly, For one reason or another, life lived without Vivaldi's music although it can't be 'not worth' because life is far more greater and deeper but it could be said it isn't lived well. Basically, Vivaldi art of music enhances the quality of the mind and life, in general.
maravillosa version
Sounds very similar to L'estro Armonico. Isn't it?
