So that's why king's damage seems so familiar... The mortal blow is equivalent to a 999 ATK critical hit damage, and so is +3 defense with scale 999 DEF which is around 750 basically a critical hit when you have ATK -3

I wonder how hard this challenge would be without the Scales clothing? Would it just be a bit more tedious or just completely impossible?

It's definitely possible, you can use robot and legendary sword, if you're lucky enough you can do it
