Saw one landed on the football oval at Swanbourne Barracks back in the 1970's, utilising the "Fremantle Doctor" for lift on take-off. Also a hard aircraft to stand up in whilst loaded with your parachute and equipment as the large tail fin moved the craft around a lot.

My first jump was out of a Caribou. 40 went out the back of her before my jumpmasters and I exited. Best jump plane. No feeling in the world like than standing in that big open tailgate and stepping off into the sky.

does it provide actual lift? in some cases it does and if so... then it would be a horizontal stabilizer(?)

Slow, huge, ugly and sloppy,,,, of course at low speed.
I fell in love with this machine. Never divorced her but irresponsible people put her to deplorable sleep.

That's called the stroberscopic effect and is the difference in frequency between the device you are watching the video and the device originally making the recording.

Either someone has messed around with the soundtrack or these blokes, who should know better, continue their narration even when the Boo is making maximum prop noise. Irritating. Still, lovely to watch these old war horses. Cheers, BH ex-486 Sqn.

Additionally what's EXTREMELY annoying is blasting that f#¥@^!+g Fortunate Son nonsense over the PA system it's completely unnecessary and when I go to an airshow specifically to see a Caribou it seems to be the only display that some self indulgent monkey feels the need to add a music track to. You don't need to add a shitty song to the display to give a 'Vietnam era feel ' or to know that it served in Vietnam which in the grand scheme of the Caribou' s service in the RAAF is a small fraction of it's career of course not for a moment trivializing or taking away from the incredible and amazing tasks it performed over there and the fact it was the first first RAAF aircraft in and the last to leave . The displays should focus on its total career not just one specific segment
