- A compilation of ways to lose in I'm on Observation Duty 5, a rather fun spot the difference sort of game where you report changes in scenes before four anomalies become active. Additionally, there are intruders (or other anomalies) that may be able to kill you if ignored for too long. They also tend to have a goofy jumpscare which makes losing worth it.
I cut some of the dead time of intruders staring at the camera before killing you as some of them take 30+ seconds before they'll attack. A few of them have different positions in a scene and move closer to the camera the longer you ignore them.
I'm pretty sure this is all of them but if I did miss one do let me know!

they're kinda goofy when you see them one after another, but seeing them in-game is a special kind of terrifying

I like how in any other game these jumpscare a would be considered pretty cheap but since this is a quiet game that require ur full attention these jumpscares catch u pretty off guard when ur so focused on looking for differences on the screen
I find it's pretty funny though, the only thing that scared me in these are just loud noises.
On top of that this game isn't even really about the jumpscares, they just add spice to the game. It's really about making you question every little thing including your sanity

Huge Man is literally just the gigachad anomaly. Being in his presence is like being blessed by him. He just allows you to be in his presence until the timer runs out, giving you every chance to send a report. A true anomalous gigachad.

I enjoy how these jumpscares aren't just loud and brutal scream montage, but have LOTS of physical stuttering and shaking. And the screams are less monstrous and more "what?!"
That's a uniqueness I can appreciate about these jumpscares: they're not loud and screaming at you, but are still intesified by the quiet atmosphere/gameplay. They're actually pretty goofy lol.

the creepiest one to me is the abyss presence in the metro. there’s something about being slowly pulled into darkness while ominous ambience (or whatever) plays in the background, combined with the whispering when it completely sucks you in that just scares me a lot.
It’s like a black hole, you can’t see inside and you can’t escape it once you get so close, very fascinating but terrifying at the same time
There's a whole category for abyss presence but that's the only abyss in the entire game

I am not sure if it triggers a jumpscare if you stare at it too long, but there is an "intruder" in Metro at the gates that if you report him says "Are you certain its not a doll?" and then you have to report it as extra object. Meanwhile it does a lot of animation and headmovement
I don't think that one attacks. I stared at some of the other intruders for a bit to make sure as I thought the fellow on the ceiling in the bank would be a jumpscare.

This game is my kind of horror, the weird and uncanny type of horror that legit freaks me out, definitely one of the best horror games imo

There’s just something so unsettling about the entrance intruder, I love the way his head twists in the direction of the camera 😭 like it’s an easily avoidable death but it’s still so creepy

The fourth game had the best jump scares. This just has human models slightly distorted. The fourth one had eldritch horrors like the eyeball things and that guy holding his own head with an arm coming out of his neck.
I think it's a mix between four and five for myself.

There's a secret in iood3 that might suggest that all intruders in a suit are a variation of Timothy
The abyss could be from the influences of the anomalies causing a part of reality to collapse into a black hole containing the whispers of the anomalies that you & previous reporters reported
Distortion is probably a power that anomalies that cannot move use in order to get you,
and the one in the metro & the bedroom in the first game is due to the same reasons abyss presences exist
(pure speculation with no proof)
I feel like Timothy may have done something (perhaps a ritual?) that caused anomalies to appear, and that he may be part of them somehow(based on the secrets I've seen so far). or that these are from alternate universes and appeared here or something
and we're here to clean up the mess he made
Though when you switch to a camera to find an intruder it's terrifying the faces they make in their jumpscares are just so goofy to me

That's only for three of the levels - the Apartment, the House, and the Bank. The other three levels still require you to note the anomaly.

These games were SO close to not having the stereotypical jumpscares. Honestly I feel like it's way more unsettling if they just suddenly do a quick motion with no sound rather than wiggling with a loud boom sound effect
I’m curious how they kill you through the camera. Do they do something that makes you go crazy or die from a distance?
Or is it a failure because now they’ve gone berserk and now the “correction” team has a much harder and more dangerous job?

True, it could just be that you’ve agitated the anomalies and you’re fired for making this situation (whatever it is) much worse. Or maybe not even that, but now the operation no longer calls for an observer. Maybe they really, really don’t want anyone to observe what they have to do next…
There’s an achievement called “RIP” which I got after staring at an intruder until he went all twitchy. So I’m assuming I died lol

Oh my god! These games! I got interested in them when Jacksepticeye uploaded a couple videos playing with his gf. They seem very anxiety inducing and scary, specially when you got anomalies active and you don't know where hahaha
I only recently found out about them and thought some of the jumpscares were a bit goofy. It has startled me a few times when there's suddenly someone at the camera or loud noises happen. The game is more fun than I thought after giving it a go.

Listen closely at Entrance Abyss Presence, you can hear a voice whispering. To me, it sounds like the voice says "things aren't normal"
I remember one in the school, one of the let's players reported him and he suddenly bent over backwards and said "Hello there!"
I believe I remember that one. He isn't a fatal intruder if I recall correctly.
So what have we learned, the camera can move by itself into different rooms, it's game over when they jumpscare the camera and that some of those people barely move when doing a jumpscare.
Incident report 04100:
Monitor person had been found by our staff after they witnessed an intruder type anomaly. They were found lifeless and to have physical contortions as their body had 'rolled up' downwards with limbs protruding on each side having to be stretched, emaciated, and going through accelerated decomposition. There was a yellow thick liquid substance leaking out from each side of the 'roll' which seems to be a substitute for their blood.
Staff witnessing the body had gone through a state of hysteria before being evaluated for behavior and mental changes in various ways, which had anomalous properties themselves. 4/3 personnel were rehabilitated from witnessing this incident (with the fourth person being a POI for anomalous involvement.)
Security measures have increased by officials. New monitor person is requested. Victim of intruder anomaly left in room for safety purposes.
I like it, I would just change “Monitor person” to “Observer” or something like that. Monitor Person just sounds like a poor translation.

Dumb question but I'm hella curious lol, some intruders have a little animation (the zooming into the intruder's face animations) and for some of them the report button doesn't disappear so I'm curious if you could report them before you die and that way you can choose not to die and keep going or is it just impossible?? kinda feel like there's a lot of time in some of those animations to be able to report them lol
Yes, for ones like where the camera zooms in on them and removes your ability to switch cameras you need to report ASAP as otherwise you will lose. If you submit the wrong report during this time frame you won't have time for a second report.

The intruders and jumpscares are pretty goofy but I suspect the horror element is being startled by intruders in front of the camera and/or making loud noises when you're trying to pay close attention to small details.

I find none of these scary as the sound I hear after they say “it’s over” just destroys my immersion. This game looks funny though
On their own, they're almost sillier than scary. But the reason the Observation Duty series is effective is the fact that 99% of the changes you're squinting to focus on are benign and mundane, so the sudden terror of a face staring back you is really effective during gameplay.

These games are basically FNAF meets Paranormal Activity. It is a pretty neat concept.
If other anomalies kill you
Extra object: A ticking bomb or a mask hurdling at you
Door opening: 2:18 with darkness behind it
Object movement: object crushes the camera or camera moves into a circle of dancing furniture.
Light anomaly: light shines so bright that you can’t see anything.
Other: You name it.
I can’t think of anything for object disappearence, camera malfunction, or painting anomaly.
Painting can be a girl that comes out of the canvas like the ring
by my opinion, platform intruder is the easiest one to report until he gets too close to the camera
True as he takes an extremely long time to get close. A lot of these intruders give plenty of time to report unless it locks the camera and will probably only result in a game over if you just ignore looking at a room for a long while.
I always had this sense that some of the intruders attacked for a reason. I only know 2 like this. The huge man most likely attacks because he wasn't called a "huge man." He demands he is called strong. The skinny prince attacks when he receives attention. You get a warning to report an intruder in the gym and to not look there. If you look before reporting, he attacks. He most likely didn't want to be seen, just indirectly noticed.

It depends on the intruder as not all of them will jumpscare you but the ones that can will do so if not reported in time.
