  • I hope you guys have a fantastic Thanksgiving week! I will be spending time with my family but I wanted to make sure to still share something with you. I built this Trojan Horse last summer and never got to share. I hope you enjoy it! Also I am using a new microphone so my voice sounds weird to me... what do you guys think?
    Trojan Horse Documentary: Sorry, I looked for the one I watched and I can't find it now. But there are plenty of other videos out there if you want to do your own research ;)

    I really love him, he looks exactly as I would picture the Trojan horse. And I love the shields, that's a really nice authenticity touch!

    A little help but how do you get the starting base I was gonna use this for a mythology project but I’m having trouble creating a base like yours.

    • @BentleyHouseMinis
      @BentleyHouseMinis  2 роки тому

      The base is made from foam board that I just covered with wood sticks. The wheels are fake and just have blocks behind them to help it stand up. I hope that helps!

    Your imagination is beyond imagination!
    First - the subject! Who'da thunk of a Trojan horse?
    Second - the concept! Who'da thunk of using actual "planks" of wood?
    Third - the execution! Who'da thunk of making a "base model" first instead of trying to just build it out of craft sticks as a stand alone?
    Fourth - my admiration! Who'da thunk I'd become addicted to watching your creative process and the end results?

    Great video to watch and learn how to make your very own trojan horse! A wooden horse that ended 10 long years of war and its history is so famous now. I wonder what happened to the trojan horse after that war?

    How did you stuff the horse? There's nothing holding the tissue and paper towels to the mat board. I've constructed mine, but having a difficult time.

    • @BentleyHouseMinis
      @BentleyHouseMinis  4 роки тому

      I might have used a few dabs of hot glue to hold the paper towels onto the form while I wrapped the whole thing in masking tape. The masking tape will hold it all together in the end. And you can do multiple layers of the tape until the shape is just right (adding bits of paper towel in between). I hope that helps!

      I think I had one bag of each size stick... so one bag of regular craft sticks, one with the elongated skinny sticks (possibly 2 of these depending on the size bag you get) and one of the large tonge depressors I used near the bottom. This will at least get you started ;) Thank you for the kind words!

    How did you stuff it with tissue paper and mask it with masking tape without the tissue paper falling out before you put the masking tape on?

    • @BentleyHouseMinis
      @BentleyHouseMinis  5 років тому

      I would add the tissue paper and then use little bits of tape until I get it in the right spot... and then I would take a long strip of tape and go ever the whole thing once I like the shape. It's a fiddly process. You can also use hot glue to hold the pieces on before you tape.

    This is awesome. Where do you find contests to enter?

    • @BentleyHouseMinis
      @BentleyHouseMinis  5 років тому +1

      Thank you Edwina! There are a few places you can find them.... some dollhouse FB groups run them, both Greenleaf and Real Good Toys (both dollhouse companies) run them every year I believe, and if you can find a local group often times they run contests as well. I used to be a part of an online miniatures forum (its no longer active) that ran contests all the time and I grew so much participating in those! Maybe if I see them I can start posting them on my FB page :)

    Do you think this could be done in a week for a school project?

    • @BentleyHouseMinis
      @BentleyHouseMinis  3 роки тому +2

      It took me a couple weeks at least. There were lots of drying times. Maybe if you used larger sticks or paper instead of sticks so they don't have to be soaked... you might be able to speed up the process.

    Is it possible to finish this within 2 weeks?

    • @BentleyHouseMinis
      @BentleyHouseMinis  5 років тому

      Yes if you stay on top of it and have any wet wood layers dry in front of a fan. If you wait for them to dry naturally it will take longer. Once you get to the parts of the horse that have straight sticks you can use hot glue and then it speeds up even more.
