      @@bparkerfool Give it a go, one thing at a time, they're both disastrous for your health so well done on giving up on smoking. They reckon nicotine is as addictive as heroin. If you can beat that, you can beat the booze. Why do you feel you're lifestyle makes it required? They're both big steps in life, just i mainly smoked when I drank. Not going to a bar meant it was a lot easier for me to give up smoking.

      I also had severe depression and was diagnosed with it. I decided I didn't want to have that diagnosis anymore when I quit drinking so I worked on my sobriety and my physical health. The bonus was that my mental health came back!
      I told the doctors to stop asking me about depression and that it's gone!
      Every now and then I feel sad, but I just lay down and think about what's making me feel that way. Usually it's something external or I'm just tired. If it's out of my control, then it's not my problem.
      I went from being depressed almost every day to maybe being sad about something once a month. If that came in a pill form, everyone would be on it!
      If it's in my control, then I have work to do!

    When I stopped drinking, some 20 years ago, I started buy DVD:s of my favourite movies and have some ice cream in the fridge. So that anytime I passed an inviting looking bar, instead of going to have ’one’ beer (usually meant 5-10 plus pizza or burger) I could remind myself: ”There is a movie and ice cream at home, just keep on going..” For me reason was that after divorce I hated to go to empty home. So I sat in the bar until sleeping time. Then later I learned away from sugar habits.

    Hey man! I can't tell you how helpful these videos are to me. I was a hard-core binge drinker for 23 years of my life and fast food junkie. Never had any problems with drama, DUI's or getting into trouble but all that drinking caught up to me in health problems. Having tingly feet, almost 300lbs, brain fog, tired all the time, in a bad mood, depression if I wasn't drunk was a wake up call for me. I manned up, went to the doctor, got some blood work done. Come to find out I have Type 2 Diabetes and fatty liver. Which I could figure out on my own. My A1C was an alarming 2.60. I've now been sober almost a month in a half now. Which hasn't been easy but I'm pushing through. I eat well, walk about 2 hours a day, and im on Metformin. I now weigh 270 lbs and my Blood Glucose is down to 180.00 average and dropping. My drinking was in the legendary status. Pounding 12-30 beers a night was the norm. I'm talking stuff into the 8%-10% range drinking 16 oz in a 6 second time span, one after another until I went from 100% sober to 100% wasted. Sadly I took pride in this and created a huge following on Tik-Tok for beer chugging challenges. Horrible. Just wanted to share my story. Anyone out there who's reading this, no matter how bad off you are or trapped in the alcohol web, if a total wasted rager like me can do it, so can you!

    I’m 11 days sober and so proud of myself 💪 Staying productive is what’s kept my mind off alcohol and my house is looking so clean and organized. I want to start working out and getting really toned next. I’m getting a trampoline today so that should help. I also need to quit vaping but I’m dreading it. I’m so addicted to my vape 😩 I think I’m going to try to tackle that one in a month or two.

    I’ve been drinking for 50 years. I’ve been sober since Labor Day -when I was taking to the ER for heart, palpitations, dizziness, and shortness of breath- I had diarrhea for months because my entire digestive track was irritated and I wasn’t absorbing any nutrition, especially electrolytes like potassium, magnesium, etc The doctor put me on potassium chloride pills, and magnesium supplements, and also B12 injections once a week along with thiamine- I look and feel 100% better. I’m still tired and I still miss my cocktail hour at 5 o’clock after work. I find other things to do at 5 o’clock to take my mind off wanting a drink. I’ll get through this. Thank you for all your videos.

I've started to incorporate new good habits to build upon as you mentioned in the video. Working out at the gym 2-3 times a week with weight training. Therapy session once a month. Last year I did dry January and half of February and I lost 30 pounds and didn’t feel any pain. I felt really good. Six weeks ago I decided to give up alcohol, cannabis and sugar. I have been successful with the alcohol and cannabis although sometimes I want to drink or have some edible. I understand about habits, and if I have a drink or cannabis I will have to start counting from day 1 again. I failed miserably quitting sugar, and I have not lost weight. Your videos REALLY help.

    • @MCR1565
      @MCR1565 6 місяців тому

      Congrats! Hang in there. Sugar is in everything. And what it isn’t in, the body converts carbs into sugar. Here’s how I quit. I did the long, long, slow taper method.(sugar is a skin to drugs for the boy) I measured how much sugar I was consuming daily in just beverages to start.Once I had the number I observed. Then I found stevia. I gradually started mixing it into sugar and then I gradually just cut some out at a time and replaced the sweetness with the stevia. Take as long as you need and keep a journal. Just a little tiny bit at a time helps your taste buds get use to the stevia. It’s a slow road to transition but also watch your weight and log it daily too. You will adjust to the taste. Especially when you see the scale moving. Don’t eat anything you don’t make at home. Use the same method in all of your cooking/baking. Once you get the hang of excepting the taste, cut and cut again until you are completely off of it. Go slow and pay close attention to yourself. You can totally do it. You don’t have to use stevia. There are other options. I gave up all processed foods too. That part was easy. I just decided to start with eating only things that I made. I take my own food in a cooler with me every where. It takes commitment but you can do it! After I got that down, I moved in to the low carb world. Low glycemic index first then cut out carbs slowly and tapered off completely. It’s all about the taper and determination. But it’s the taper. Lol!! I stoped trying to “make low carb”this and that because I had to lose serious baby weight after 40. Don’t ask as God has jokes. 😂
      At any rate, once I got serious about eating whole, natural food and saw what was happening, before I knew it I had lost 90 lbs in a year. Just 12 months. Little to no real exercise due to taking care of my 4 kids and busy life. I just saw my body become fat adapted and sugar is a thing of the past. I don’t have a sweet tooth. I love tomatoes more than any food on the planet. Home grown ofc. But I had to cut them out too. So every once in a year when the harvest is ready. I do enjoy them. Other than that, I get back on the eating clean for me. It works like a dream! I’m 50 now and saw this channel. There’s some serious dedication going on here too. It’s the same mind set and you can do it! Be patient with yourself and remember when you slip up, just jump right back onto your new journey! You got this! Happy Healthy everybody!🤗

      You don't have to announce that you're an alcoholic, and this is NOT a holier than thou community.
      It's all about making realistic progress, that you can be proud of and look back on one month, 6 months, and 12 months later knowing that you've made genuine change!

    Thanks for sharing your wisdom. The bonus portion of the video, you made some great points. I've been working on these things for about the past year and the way you articulated them really got me pumped. 8 days into it, this is the furthest I've gotten. Looking forward to seeing more of your videos along the way.

    30M day 4. I find doing cold plunges first thing in the morning is helping my mood and inflammation. I’m still eating junk food and not working out, but progress over perfection!
